In this paper, we propose a special indoor Localization using Ceiling-Looking 2D-LiDAR. The widely used Localization (Based on radio waves or computer vision) is dependent on their usage environment. But, the proposed Localization is based on the comparison between a Ceiling shape and a Blueprint. The LiDAR is a kind of high-precision distance measurement sensor. And, the Ceiling shape information is rarely changed. So, the proposed Localization is independent on its usage environment. The compare results show that the proposed Localization’s error is less than 10cm. So, the proposed Localization is enough to provide the high-quality service.

In this paper, we propose a froth edge detection method for froth recognition in froth flotation. The widely used edge detection methods(based on gradient) can not be used for froth edge detection. The main reason is that a high gradient-value appears not only froth boundary but also high-light spot(form light-source) boundary. So, the proposed froth edge detection method uses local normalization image. The local normalization process reduces the gradient-value of the high-light spot boundary and the effect of illumination(too bright, too dark) to enable detection froth edge.

In this paper, We propose Haze Removal in HLS Color Space that compensates the defect about Haze Removal using Dark Channel Prior. Haze Removal using Dark Channel Prior adjusts RGB color information. This being so, Color information is distorted sometimes. Haze Removal in HLS Color Space can resolve this problem. This solution retains Color information and adjusts Luminance, Saturation.

This paper proposes a control system to keep the balance of a unicycle robot. The robot consists of the disk and wheel, for balancing and driving respectively, and the tile angle is measured and used for balancing by the IMU sensor. A PID controller is designed based on a non-model based algorithm to prove that it is possible to control the unicycle robot without any approximated linear system model such as the sliding mode control algorithm. The PID controller has the advantage that it is simple to design the controller and it does not require an unnecessary complex formula. In this paper, assuming that the pitch and roll axis are dynamically decoupled, each of the two controllers are designed separately. A reaction wheel pendulum method is used for the control of the roll axis, that is, for balancing and an inverted pendulum concept is used for the control of the pitch axis. To confirm the performance of the proposed controllers using MATLAB Simulink, the dynamic equations of the robot are derived.

Hydrogen comes into the spotlight as the alternative energy. On board generation of hydrogen is being explored via catalytic or plasma-based reformers. Synthetic gas reformed from hydrocarbon-based fuel mainly consists of hydrogen, carbon monoxide, and nitrogen. In order to use synthetic gas as combustion, clarifying combustion characteristic of synthetic gas is important. From previous study, flammability limit of synthetic gas was confirmed. This paper details experiments relating to combustion characteristics of synthetic gas. Composition of the mixture in a constant volume chamber was controlled with partial pressure of each gas in various ambient pressures. This study investigates effects of H₂/O₂ ratio and sum of H₂ and O₂ volume fractions on combustion from combustion pressure and rates of heat release of synthetic gas. Also, flame speed was calculated by visualizing combustion of synthetic gas.

N/A In this study, various model composite latexes were synthesized using n-butyl acrylate and methyl methacrylate as comonomers by seeded multi-staged emulsion polymerization. Monodispersed model composite latex particles with size of 190 nm and polydispersity index of 1.05, which have various morphology including random copolymer particle, soft-core/hard-shell particle, hard-core/soft shell particle, and gradient-type copolymer particle, homopolymers particles were prepares. The designed morphology of model composite particles were confirmed.
