Monoclonal antibodies(MAbs) against field isolates of the bovine rotavirus A strain(G6), V strain(G10) and reference I-801 strain(G8) were produced and characterized. Six MAbs(4C2, 4D9, 5E1, 5E7, 5D5, 3E4) against A strain had neutralizing activity and reacted only with the G6 bovine rotaviruses determined by fluorescence focus neutralization (FFN) test. Otherwise, five neutralizing MAbs(1G2, 2G6, 5E2, 5E12, 5H7) against I-801 strain neutralized the G6 and G8 bovine rotaviruses. Five non-neutralizing MAbs(5F12, 7F12, 5E11, 2A11, 2B12) were VP6-specific and cross-reacted with all bovine and porcine rotaviruses examined by fluorescence antibody(FA) test. None of the MAbs reacted with bovie viral diarrhea virus(BVDV) and bovine coronavirus(BCV) determined by FA and FFN test.

Eight monoclonal antibodies(MAbs) against bovine coronavirus(BCV) were produced and characterized. Three MAbs(1G9, 4H12, 5C1) specific to the S glycoprotein and two HE glycoprotein-specific MAbs(2A5, 5G4) were found to neutralize the BCV in fluorescence focus neutralization(FFN) test. Two HE-specific MAbs from the neutralizing MAbs inhibited the hemagglutinating activity of the BCV. None of the N protein-specific MAbs(1C1, 5A12, 6H1) neutralized the virus infectivity. Bovine coronavirus and mouse hepatitis virus, which belong to group II coronaviruses, were differentiated from other groups of coronaviruses(porcine transmissible gastroenteritis virus, porcine epidemic diarrhea virus, canine coronavirus) by all MAbs in fluorescence antibody test(FA), but not in FFN test.

Purpose: To evaluate differential changes in the central and nasal fat pads of the upper eyelid associated with aging and the effect of body mass index in Koreans. Methods: Using a standardized scale, the volume grade of the central and nasal fat pads was graded from 0 to 3 (0 for depressed, 1 for flat, 2 for mildly protruded, and 3 for markedly protruded) in normal adults, consisting of 20 males and 20 females from 30 years of age to 80 years of age. The body mass index was calculated for every patient through interviews using their height and weight. Statistical evaluations correlating age and body mass index with central and nasal fat pad changes were performed. Statistical evaluations correlating age with fat pad changes except for the effect of body mass index were performed. Results: Except for the effect of body mass index, the central fat pad increased (r = -0.176, p = 0.007) and nasal fat pad decreased (r = 0.252, p < 0.001) with aging, which was statistically significant. Conclusions: With aging, the central fat pad increases and nasal fat pad decreases in the upper eyelid. Clinically, this finding has implications in cosmetic and functional upper eyelid blepharoplasty. In addition, the results may be useful to determine whether to conserve or remove the fat as well as the amount of fat removal during upper blepharoplasty.

To determine the prevalence of bovine rotavirus infection in Chungbuk area, fecal specimen were collected from calves with diarrhea and tested using ELISA. The positive rates were 53.8%(1 to 30days old), 19.0%(31 to 60days old), and 3.2%(over 60days old). Electrophoretic migration patterns of genomic RNA from field isolates were similar to that of NCDV strain, prototype of bovine rotavirus. Bovine rotavirus field isolate showed characteristic morphology of rotavirus particle with 80nm in diameter, using EM.

The reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) was used for the detection of bovine coronavirus (BCV) in fecal samples by using reverse transcriptase and two primers which flanked M gene sequence of 407bp. RT-PCR detected bovine coronavirus specifically, but did not detect mouse hepatitis virus (MHV), transmissible gastroenteritis virus (TGEV), and bovine rotavirus (BRV). The M gene sequences of MHV are homologus to that of BCV, but minor differences exist in the primer regions, preventing annealing of the primers. Detection of BCV using RT-PCR was compared with ELISA and the agreement of BCV detection by RT-PCR and ELISA was 95.3%. RNA detection in positive clinical specimens was significantly better by PCR than immunological detection of BCV by ELISA.

Fecal samples were collected from 47 calves with diarrhea and 12 clinically normal co-habitants, and tested for virus using MDBK cell cultures. Three cytopathic viruses were isolated from 8 fecal samples obtained from diarrheic calves. The isolated viruses were neutralized by bovine coronavirus hyperimmune serum in plaque reduction assay and were detected in the cytoplasm of MDBK cell by bovine coronavirus hyperimmune serum using immunofluorescence staining. The viruses agglutinated mouse erythrocytes only among the various animal erythrocytes tested and new isolates were identified as bovine coronavirus.

Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was developed to detect rotavirus antigen in fecal samples using VP6-specific monoclonal antibody(2B12). The ELISA for rotavirus antigen detection found to have specificity to all bovine and porcine rotaviruses tested but not to bovine viral diarrhea virus and bovine coronavirus. The ELISA appeared to have similar sensitivity and specificity compared to fluorescence antibody assay(FA) and electropherotyping(PAGE).

Yeh-Wiener 측도공간에 도입된 척도불변인 측도가능성(scale-invariant measurability)이란 개념을 이용하여, 일반화된 Riemann-Stieltjes 적분의 존재성(Theorem 3-1)과 임의의 두 완비정규직교 함수들의 집합에 관한 일반화된 Riemann-Stieltjes 적분의 일치성(Theorem 3-2) 그리고 끝으로 피적분함수가 유계변동인 함수(a function of bounded variation)일 경우에는 일반화된 Riemann-Stieltjes 적분이 보통의 Riemann-Stieltjes 적분과 일치함을 보였다(Theorem 3-3).
