무기체계 성능 분석을 위한 교전시뮬레이션 시 사용되는 M&S모델을 효율적으로 개발하기 위해서는 모델의 재사용성과 조립성이 고려되어야한다. 본 논문에서는 국방과학연구소의 컴포넌트기반 체계모의환경(AddSIM)의 표준화된 구조를 따르는 유도무기체계 물리모델의 하위 컴포넌트를 설계하였다. 일반적인 유도무기에 대해 각 컴포넌트를 구성하고 모델링 정확도에 따라 해상도를 정의하며, 사용하는 변수들을 데이터 타입에 맞게 분류하였다. 설계 결과는 라이브러리 형태로 제공하여 다양한 해상도의 유도무기체계 시뮬레이션이 가능하도록 한다.

It is important to decide which procedure to employ between canal wall up mastoidectomyand canal wall down mastoidectomy (CWDM) as each procedure has its own advantages anddisadvantages. To combine the advantages and compensate the disadvantages of each procedure,various methods and approaches have been devised. Mastoid and epitympanic obliteration,which minimizes the dead space in the mastoid cavity, was previously known to preventthe occurrence of retraction pockets. We performed mastoid and epitympanic obliteration alsoto prevent the occurrence of cavity problems without meatoplasty. Here we describe the surgicalprocedures for modified CWDM without meatoplasty and mastoid obliteration using autologousmaterials.

Metaphorical perceptions of Chinese college students about English learning experience

The present study has investigated the metaphorical perceptions of first-year Chinese students toward their English learning experience before college. Metaphors were collected using the prompt “English learning was (like) … because ….” and analyzed qualitatively by Elicited Metaphor Analysis. The results revealed four types of metaphors: work, journey, leisure, and necessity. Regardless of metaphor types, the students tended to perceive English learning as a slow, hardworking process leading to a sense of accomplishment and personal growth as well as language development. As for attitudes toward English learning, the students generally conceived of learning English as a highly challenging endeavor with ultimately worthwhile outcomes. .

Muscle tension dysphonia (MTD) is a voice disorder characterized by excessive tension of the laryngeal muscles during phonation. Voice therapy is the gold standard of treatment for MTD. However, patients with MTD do not always respond to voice therapy. Multidisciplinary approaches have been attempted to treat intractable MTD such as lidocaine instillation, lidocaine injection to recurrent laryngeal nerve, botox injection and excision of false ventricle using CO₂ laser. Recently, injection laryngoplasty is suggested that assists in more efficient phonation and voice therapy to MTD patients. A patient with intractable MTD underwent lidocaine injection and injection laryngoplasty showed improved voice quality and remained stable until postoperative 3 months without any complications.

Indications of fiberoptic laryngeal laser surgery (FLS) procedure have broadened by the development of flexible fiberoptic endoscopes and flexible laser systems. FLS procedure performed under local anesthesia and it is the unique value of FLS. The surgery can be performed on patients who are impossible to undergo general anesthesia and difficult to be exposed by laryngeal microsurgery. Main indication of FLS procedure was small to moderate sized hemorrhagic vocal polyp, but we experienced a case of huge vocal polyp with difficult laryngeal exposure treated by FLS procedure under local anesthesia. The vocal polyp was removed successfully without vocal fold scar through fiberoptic laryngeal laser surgery under local anesthesia.

2022 영어 교육과정에 반영된 English as a Lingua Franca의 특징과 실현 가능성

본 연구는 새로 발표된 2022 영어과 교육과정에서 내포하고 있는 링구아 프랑카로서의 영어(English as a Lingua Franca, ELF)의 특성과 교실 상황에의 적용 방안을 어떻게 제시하고 있는지 텍스트 마이닝을 통해 분석하였다. 교육과정은 영어 학습의 목표를 다양한 세계인과의 효과적인 의사소통과 문화적 다양성을 이해하기 위함으로 제시하는 점에서 ELF를 반영하고 있으나, 이해 가능 정도(intelligibility), 유창성(fluency), 평가와 같은 적용에 영향을 줄 수 있는 핵심 용어를 명확히 정의하거나 설명하지는 않았다. 이는 용어의 상대적인 이해를 방지하고 명확한 목표 제시를 위해 개선되어야 할 부분이다. 마찬가지로 ELF 목표 달성을 위한 관련 요소(예: 음운론적, 단어 강세, 리듬, 억양 등)에 관한 연구 결과를 제한적으로 반영하고 있으나, 구체적인 목표 성취를 위한 교수법과 평가에 관한 내용은 부족한 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로 이해 가능 정도에 영향을 미치는 한국의 학습자의 영향은 교육과정에서 언급되지 않았는데, 이는 적용에 영향을 미칠 수 있는 실질적인 요소로서 적극적으로 논의될 필요가 있다. 이러한 분석을 바탕으로 관련 용어의 명확한 정의와 구체적인 적용을 위한 내용 제시의 필요성을 주장하고, 한국 상황에서 영어 학습자들의 특성을 고려한 연구를 바탕으로 한 교육과정과 교육 자료 개발의 필요성을 강조하였다. Observing the shift to English as a Lingua Franca (ELF) in the national curriculum for English education, this study analyzes ELF-related features in the 2022 curriculum’s learning aims and evaluates their feasibility using text mining. The findings indicate that the curriculum reflects ELF, for example, by viewing English as a medium of communication among diverse speakers whose first language is not English. The curriculum’s emphasis on cultivating learners’ awareness and appreciation for different cultures also aligns with the ELF literature, since communication contexts are not limited to interactions with native English speakers. However, the findings reveal that the curriculum lacks definitions of key terms, such as “intelligibility,” “fluency,” and “accuracy.” It also fails to provide pedagogical implications for its ELF-informed suggestions, such as introducing various English variants and teaching for effective communication. There is also a need to address Korean learner factors, as they are known as significant contributors to mutual intelligibility. Furthermore, the absence of information on assessment could significantly impact classroom pedagogy and calls for explicit guidelines. Drawing upon these findings, the study concludes with a call for the inclusion of definitions for key terms and pedagogical methods to achieve the curriculum’s objectives, considering unique characteristics of English learners in the Korean context.

Neuroendocrine adenoma of the middle ear (NAME), a rare cause of middle ear mass, was first descripted by Hyams and Michaels in 1976. Radiologic image and clinical feature of NAME is not characterized. The most frequent complaints are unilateral conductive hearing loss. We report a case of 35-year-old male who presented with ear fullness and middle ear mass. We performed endoscopic tumor removal by transcanal approach. NAME was diagnosed based on immunohistochemistry. In 9 months following surgery, the patient’s adenoma has not recurred, although long-term observation will be required.

A critical discourse analysis of communicative teaching in nonnative contexts in language pedagogy textbooks.

To explore ways to improve the relevance of language teacher education to the aim of teaching for communication in Korea, the present study examines discursive patterns in passages on communicative teaching of nonnative-speaking teachers in non-Western contexts and related ideologies that are from four popular language pedagogy textbooks. The study draws on the critical discourse model proposed by Fairclough in examining how the texts normalize communicative teaching, and how they advocate its key features, which may be at least partially incompatible with local instructional situations like those of the non-West. The methodology of the study involved content analysis focusing on relevant passages concerning communicative teaching (including CLT), various teaching contexts, and nonnative-speaking teachers. The findings of the analyses revealed three major discursive patterns: representation of communicative ability as the universal goal, advocacy of communicative language teaching as the general method for achieving it, and implied negative presuppositions about nonnative teachers and their contexts. Informed by findings, this study concludes with two suggestions for language teacher educators: carefully use the texts so novice readers could contextualize the pedagogical knowledge, and address critical issues early in training to prevent reproducing the existing prejudice against nonnative speakers and their contexts.
