Many wind energy industries have invested in the development of a large-scaled direct-drive generator with high efficient power production, such as the axial flux permanent (AFPM) typed generator. The AFPM-typed generator, however, causes overheating on the stator’s surface, so that a proper cooling system is needed. Although a conventional convective-typed cooling system has been developed, there were lots of difficulties for its application to the large-scaled direct-drive generator with capacity exceeding 2.5MW, because the capacity of the devices such as air blower for decrease of high temperature on the stator’s surface should be also grown up. In this study, a new conductive-type cooling system for the 2.5MW AFPM-typed generator was proposed, and the heat transfer characteristics were investigated. In addition, the efficiency of the conductive-type cooling system was estimated in comparison with that of the conventional convective-type cooling system.

For the sustainable development of wind energy, the energy industries have invested in the development of highly efficient wind generator such as an axial flux permanent magnet(AFPM) generator. The AFPM generator, however, has a history of overheating on the stator surface, so that power production decreases significantly. A proper cooling system, therefore, is needed. Although in the case of low capacity generator, a convective-type cooling system has been developed, the size of the air blower must be increased when the generator’s capacity exceeds 2.5MW. In this study, a newly developed conductive-type cooling system was proposed for the 2.5MW AFPM generator installed on an offshore wind turbine. Through electromagnetic-thermal analysis, the characteristics of the heat transfer in the generator were investigated. For the application of the proposed cooling system, the temperatures on the surfaces of stator and permanent magnet were 86 and 68℃, respectively, which could not affect the decrease of the power production efficiency.(KETEP 20134030200320)

Wind power energy is one of the attractive renewable energies. Comparing to on-shore wind turbine, the off-shore wind turbine has advantages such as higher energy density and fewer constraint conditions. However, due to a high initial investment, the unit cost of power production should be reduced by using a large-scaled wind turbine with capacity of more than 5㎿. The geared-type wind turbine needs a relative high maintenance cost of power train system, so that the industries begin to pay attention to the large-scaled gearless-type wind turbine. In this paper, a case study to design the rotor of the AFPM(Axial Flux Permanent Magnet)-type generator applied to the gearless type wind turbine was performed. Under a design constraint of deformation, i.e. smaller than 3㎜ at the end of rotor, the design parameters such as thickness of spider and width of rib in the rotor were determined, in which the total weight of the rotor was below down 19tonf.

업체에서 자체설계하여 생산중인 소형 Semi-NC 선반의 기어 Box에서 소음 및 진동이 발생하였다. 이 진동 및 소음에 대한 원인을 규명하고 방지대책을 수립하고자 기어 Box와 동력전달과정에 대하여 주축의 횡진동 해석, Gear-Shaft system의 비틀림 진동 해석, 기어 Box에 대한 진동 모드 시험과 공명 주파수를 해석하였다. 주축의 임계 속도(Critical Speed)와 시스템의 주 동작 속도를 비교한 결과, 공진 형상은 발생하지 않는 것으로 판단되었다. 하지만, 비틀림 진동 해석과 기어 box의 진동 모드 시험 및 공명 주파수 해석에서는 기어들의 가진 주파수와의 공진 가능성이 확인되어 기어잇수비의 변경과 기어 box의 내부에 보강재를 설치함으로써, 공진이 의심되는 주파수 대역을 완화시켜 진동 및 소음을 줄일 수 있었다.
Biotransformation of quercetin to quercetin 3-O-gentiobioside using engineered Escherichia coli

Various flavonoid O-diglycosides are found in nature but the biological activities of only a few compounds have been explored due to difficulty in obtaining samples. In order to circumvent the need for extraction and purification of the natural compounds from plants, we used engineered Escherichia coli strain that harbors two uridine diphosphatedependent glycosyltransferases (UGTs; BcGT1 and CaUGT) and two nucleotide sugar biosynthetic genes (pgm and galU). Using this strain, we synthesized quercetin 3-O-gentiobioside. After optimization of induction temperature, cell density, and reaction temperature, approximately 46.2 mg/L quercetin 3-O-gentiobioside was synthesized from quercetin with 49 % conversion efficiency.
