Oriental medicine explains aging as the weakening of Kidney-Qi, and Kidney-strengthening herbal medicines such as Yukmijihwang-tang have been studied for anti-aging effects. In Western Medicine, the hypothesis that reactive oxidant species(ROS) contribute to the aging process is generally accepted. It has been reported that Moutan Cortex Radicis extract (MCR) was the most effective constituent of Yukmijihwang-tang in decreasing ROS production in oxidative-stressed cells. The purpose of this study is to confirm the anti-oxidant effect of MCR on PC12 cells, the expression of Heme oxygenase (HO), Macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF), Catechol-0-methyltransferase (COMT) using real time RT PCR. PC12 cells were treated without or with hydrogen peroxide in the presence or absence of MCR using MTS assay. Hydrogen peroxide decreased the viability of PC12 cells by 53% and MCR did not influence that of stressed PC 12 cells irrespective of dose or incubation period. However, MCR showed an inhibitory effect on production of ROS in stressed cells, both dose and incubation time dependently. In particular, 1 mg/ml of MCR for 24 h culture almost returned to normal level. In the quantiation of anti-aging related gene expression, MCR at 1 mg/ml increased the expression of HO by 370%, MlF by 180% and COMT by 280% through real time RT PCR. In conclusion, MCR treatment protected PC12 cells from hydrogen peroxide and decreased ROS production and enhanced anti-oxidative gene expression such as HO, COMT and MlF, which suggests that MCR is involved in controlling anti-aging of nerve cells through elimination of cytotoxic stimuli..

The effect of VIV(vortex-induced vibration) was recently considered significantly in the long slender structure. Nowaday, a strake is used to remove VIV, but that has some disadvantages such as a difficulty in assembling strake with the main frame, a higher cost and the increase of the total weight. Furthermore, it was reported that the strake could induce the heave motion. In this study, the experiment with the circular cylinder covered some film was executed to reduce the side effects. The result from the experiment shows that the film is managed to reduce VIV by removing the lift force.

This paper presents an optimization model for revising train timetable based on an existing timetable to improve transfer time at each station. The transfer time consists of walking and waiting time. The model is formulated as a mixed integer programming. The objective function is to minimize the transfer time from one train to another train at each station. To reflect real situations range of revising departure time is considered as major condition in the model. To validate the effectiveness of the model rudimentary computational results are included and the results are analyzed in terms of transfer time.

1996년 서울 고덕동~상일동 구간 시내버스에 교통카드 시범실시 이후 다년간 정부의 지속적인 지원으로 현재 수도권 대중교통 승객의 교통카드 이용률이 90%를 넘어서고 있다. 현 상황에서 국내 및 국외의 교통정보시스템은 도로운영 및 제어, 실시간 정보 제공에 집중되어 있으며, 기존의 교통정보시스템과 차별화되는 교통카드자료를 활용한 교통정보시스템에 관한 연구가 진행되어야 한다. 본 연구에서는 교통카드 사용이 활성화되어 있는 국내 및 국외사례를 중심으로 각 국에서 활용되고 있는 교통정보시스템을 비교/분석하여, 교통카드자료 기반의 대중교통 정책 및 제도 개선을 위한 의사결정지원 기능, 승객 통행정보에 대한 과학적 분석, 새로운 노선 구축에 대한 수요예측 및 변화 등의 정보를 제공할 수 있는 진화된 미래 교통정보시스템의 모습을 소개하고 발전방향을 제시하고자 한다. After conducting demonstration of transportation card for bus from Godeok-dong to Sangil-dong in 1996, due to continuously support for public transportation, the transportation card utilization of metropolitan public transportation passengers is currently going beyond 90%. In the current situation, transportation information system is mainly focused on road operation and control, offer of real time information and research of transportation information system using transportation card data which is differentiated by previous transportation information system is needed to study. This paper compare and analyze transportation information system, which is being used to each country, based on foreign examples of activating use of transportation card then introduce figure of advanced transportation information system which provide decision making feature for improving policy and institution of public transportation based on transportation card data, scientific analysis of passenger information, information of demand forecasting, variation and so on for constructing new route.

본 논문은 장래 도입되는 KTX2 고속차량을 이용한 중련편성 운영계획 최적화를 위한 방법론 제시를 목적으로 한다. 중련편성 운영계획 최적화를 위한 수리적 모형을 제시하고, 제안된 수리적 모형의 적용방안을 제시한다. 특히 확률적 수요를 고려한 모형을 수립하여, 계획수립 단계에서 수요의 확률적 요소를 보다 현실적으로 반영하고, 모형내에서 좌석 서비스 수준을 직접 조정할 수 있다. This paper presents a mathematical model for a double-fleet operation in Korean high speed rail (HSR). KORAIL has a plan to launch new HSR units in 2010, which are composed of 10 railcars. The double-fleet operation assigns a single-unit or two-unit fleet to a segment, accommodating demand fluctuation. The proposed model assumes stochastic demand and uses chance-constrained constraints to assure a preset service level. It can be used in the tactical planning stage of the rail management as it includes several real-world conditions, such as the capacities of the infra-structures and operational procedures. In the solution approach, the expected revenue in the objective function is linearized by using expected marginal revenue, and the chance-constrained constraints are linearized by assuming that demands are normally distributed. Subsequently, the model can be solved by a mixed-integer linear programming solver for small size problems. The test results of the model applied to Friday morning train schedules for one month sample data from KTX operation in 2004 shows that the proposed model could be utilized to determine the effectiveness of double-fleet operation, which could significantly increase the expected profit and seat utilization rates when properly maneuvered.
