      • Emotional Interactions on the Basis of the Self-Similarity between Users and 3D Avatar Robots

        For humanoid intelligent robots to coexist and interact with human beings smoothly, in-depth interdisciplinary research on the expression depending on the type of mutual interaction is needed. Meaning, the consideration of cognitive·psychological expectations that users will have when they meet robots" face will be an important factor in interaction. This study aims for an empirical study of users" emotional reaction on the face of 3D avatar virtual robots with self-similarity. First, the literature study was designed to examine emotional interaction between robots and human beings, then SD method image investigation on participantive questionnaire and samples of the participant was performed by designing 22 samples of virtual robot faces for demonstration. As a result, ① the impression formed by the shape of robots was found to affect users" emotional interaction. ② The impression of 3D avatar robot face similar to the user and operational robot face were found to have different effect which represents the degree of difference of emotional interaction, and ③ sad or painful emotion in users" long-term memory can be converted into a positive energy through smiley robot face with self-similarity(of users).

        This article is aimed examining the relations between the Republic of Korea (ROK) and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) over the past two decades since the establishment of ROK and ASEAN dialogue relations in 1989. With regard to the ROK`s perspective, ASEAN is not only a significant friend in ensuring peace and security on the Korean peninsula, but a major economic partner actively engaged in trade, investment, and construction. The ROK and ASEAN have frequently exchanged human resources, recording 4 million mutual visits per year. In particular, Korea`s enhanced brand image, due to the Hallyu (Korean Wave) within the ASEAN region, has enabled ASEAN`s preference for Korean mobile phones, electronic products, and durable goods to stand eminent. Over the past two decades, ASEAN-ROK relations have developed since the early establishment period and negotiations for a permanent consultative mechanism, followed by cooperation expansion and deepening stages. More importantly, in commemoration of the 20th anniversary of ASEAN-ROK dialogue relations, at the ASEAN-ROK Commemorative Summit in Jeju Island in June 2010, the ROK government initiated plans for development cooperation, low-carbon green growth, and cultural and human resources exchanges, which are the three main policies of the ROK government`s diplomacy toward ASEAN. In addition, at Hanoi ASEAN-ROK Summit in October 2010, it is noteworthy that the existing ASEAN-ROK comprehensive relations had been elevated to a strategic partnership. At present, ASEAN-ROK relations have been institutionalized, through 24 cooperation mechanism meetings on issues ranging from politics/security, economy, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to transportation, the singing of the ASEAN-ROK FTA, and the establishment of the ASEAN-ROK Center. A representative mission to ASEAN in Jakarta is also planned for 2012. Following the Asian financial crisis in 1997, both the ROK and ASEAN have endeavored to expand cooperation at the East Asia level. Furthermore, the establishment of the ASEAN+3 has served as the most institutionalized mechanism in East Asia. The expansion of the East Asia Summit (EAS) by the accessionof the US and Russia has ushered in a new era in the history of the East Asia regional cooperation. At such time, a new vision would be necessary to guide the future of East Asia. In this regard, the ROK government will take the lead in submitting the EAVGII report to the ASEAN+3 Summit in 2012, successive to the 2001 EAVG report.

        태양열이용 Baffle식 축열조를 갖는 급탕난방시스템의 열성능 해석

        A numerical study has been performed to investigate the thermal performance of solar heating system with baffle type of storage tank by using the commercial code TRNSYS. As a result, the solar fraction depends strongly on the efficiency and heat loss coefficient of solar collector as well as the heating capacity of house and the water temperature supplied to the shower. In addition, the solar fraction has been basically ranked to higher level in baffle type of storage tank than typical type of single storage tank for the range of operation condition.

        가구디자인에 있어 자연과 기술의 기호적 내포에 관한 연구

        Nature and technology are very popular themes in the everydayness of modern world. In our industrial age which is based on technology nature becomes an lost origin and basic environment. On the other hand, technology is conceived as future hope and realistic environment. Through 1960s they had been transformed as signs and connoted into furniture design. As signs, they structured environment, organized space, and bred their own aesthetics. In this context, Danish designer Verner Panton presented nature as experiential landscape and Italian designer Joe Colombo expressed technology as amusing machine. What they showed were not real but sign of nature and machine. Nonetheless they were successful to create aesthetic atmosphere and meaningful projects. Also they showed the potentiality that furniture design might include discoursive issues and values. They also extended functional interesting between furniture and body to cultural domain of social viewpoint in behavioral pattern.

      • 웹 GUI에서 인터랙티브 스토리텔링에 대한 연구

        웹 브랜딩은 사이트 구조와 구조에 담긴 내용 그리고 시각 컨텐츠로 부터 생성되는 "이야기하기(storytelling)"를 이해하는 것에서 출발해야 한다. 또한 인터페이스 3가지 심상모형의 구성요소 중 하나인 사용자 심상모형을 이해하기 위해 인지심리학의 장기기억을 살펴 보았으며, 인터랙티브 스토리텔링이 이미지 스토리텔링을 지닌 인터페이스와 장기기억의 감정을 지닌 사용자 사이의 상호구조 안에서 작용하는 것을 알게 되었다. 먼저 인터페이스 3가지 심상모형 중 사용자에 대해 살펴보고 "내러티브"를 시작으로 "인터랙티브 스토리텔링"의 개념과 스토리텔링 구조를 살펴보아서, 인터랙티브 스토리텔링이 사용자 장기기억 속 이야기를 자극하여 웹 브랜딩에 영향을 미치게 됨을 논하고자 한다. 또 광고회사 Nakedcomms.com 의 웹사이트를 대상으로 20대 남녀 대학생 100명에게 단순 설문조사 및 주관식 서면 인터뷰를 하여, 사용자의 장기기억과 웹GUI의 이미지 내러티브 상호간에 이루어지는 인터랙티브 스토리텔링이 사용자의 긍정 또는 부정의 감정을 유도하여 웹 브랜딩 제고에 영향을 준다는 것을 고찰하였다. Web branding should begin with understanding of site structure, contents in it and "Storytelling" created by the visual contents. To understand the user image model which is one of the components of the three Interface Image Models, long-term memory of cognitive psychology was observed to find that Interactive story telling is the interaction between the users who have interface contained in the image story telling and who have feelings of long-term memory. Beginning with "Narrative" the concept of "Interactive Story Telling and the structure of Story telling were examined for the user among the three Interface Image Models to suggest that Interactive Story telling stimulates the story in user"s long-term memory and gives effect on Web branding. And a simple survey and prepared interview with 100 male and female students in 20 s were performed for the advertising company. Nakedcomms.com. As a result, it is observed that Story telling between the user"s long-term memory and image narrative of Web GUI induces positive and negative feelings of users affecting the improvement of Web branding.
