The basic concept of performance-based seismic design is to design buildings to satisfy the target performance level for earthquake load that may occur during the term of use of those buildings. In such a concept of seismic design, therefore, there has been active research in displacement-based-design method controling that the response is within the given target displacement. Therefore, this paper aims to review the basic concept of displacement-based- design, to apply this to the seismic design of structural R/C shear walls for comparing with design results, and to propose a displacement design-based seismic evaluation method.

A study is performed to analyze the status and research trend of retrofit method used in building structures at Korea. 152 Reinforced Concrete buildings with retrofitted members of 7238 in domestic after 1999 are gathered and reviewed. In addition, literature review about 191 research papers for retrofit of RC structure is performed. Results show that most widely applied retrofit method and target member are wire tension method and flexural member such as beam and slab. respectively. Recently. the use of Carbon Fiber Sheet(CFS) is increasing and many research results concerning it are provided. Therefore, it is recommended to develop an effective method to estimate the structural capacity of retrofitted member with CFS.
흙막이용 H-Pile과 R/C Wall로 구성된 지하합성벽에 관한 해석

H-Piles are generally not used as structural members in the retaining wall system. But this is definitely a economic loss. Composite Basement Wall is combined with H-Pile and resists lateral soil pressure together. In this system, Shear connector as like a stud should be connected to the H-Pile and R/C Wall. Stud connectors are used to combine those member. The flexural capacity of composite basement wall which consists of steel beam and R/C wall is evaluated by non-linear analysis in this study.

The objective of this paper is to verify the effect of embedded depth and width of head to the tensile capacity of head reinforcement embedded in concrete. FEM(Finite Element Method) analysis is conducted by using ADINA program (version 8.4) for the embedded reinforcement. Main variables in the analysis are embedded depth and width of head. Analysis result showed that the stiffness and strength depended on the embedded depth of head reinforcement. However, the increment of stiffness and strength were not high even if the width of head increased. On the other hand, flexural deformation occurred at the head when the width of head was increased.

Recently, the construction demand for large underground space has been in creased so that the excavation technology for underground construction of building has been being developed. The construction of sheeting pile is for resisting the lateral pressure of soil during the excavation. In general, conventional sheeting H-pile is often used as a temporary member installed upon construction of outer retaining wall at basement floor. In CBW (Composite Basement Wall), R/C basement wall is combined with H-Pile and resists lateral soil pressure together. In this study, a total of five specimens with simple-ends were tested. Main parameters were the depth of basement wall and arrangement of shear connectors. The purpose of this experiment is to evaluate the flexural capacity to offer the raw-data of composite basement wall.
화재 피해를 입은 철근콘크리트 보의 전단거동에 관한 실험적 연구

This paper presents experimental result about the shear behavior of RC beam damaged by fire mine parameters in the test are the exposed time to fire and shear span-to-depth ratio. Test result shows that the temperature of fire is mare effective to the strength of specimens then the exposed time. In case of experiencing same exposed time to fire, the variation of shear strength of specimens with different shear span-to-depth ratios in similar to those without fire damage.

This paper reviews the disasters affecting the structural capacity of buildings in domestic. And the structural behavior of building with damaged columns due to a disaster was investigated by analytical method in order to the prepare basic data for the safe dismantling of damaged building. ZEUS-NL program was used to analyze the nonlinear behavior of building. As a result, the stress was concentrated to the beam that a column was removed, and as it goes up to higher stories, the moment change of an upper story appeared small and the deflection value also showed similar each other. This may result from hanging action of beams.

Recently, a research related to development of form-block has been performed to improve the effectiveness in both construction of new building and retrofit of old building. From several previous prism tests on the form-block wall (FBW), it has been revealed that the concrete filled in the void of the form-block expands to horizontal direction when the compressive load increases and the failure of FBW at ultimate load is governed by the shear failure of web of form-block. This failure brings on weak resistance of wall. In this manner, this paper aimed to verify the compressive strength of the form-block reinforced with steel fiber through both compressive and prism test on the block. In addition, the suitability of previous equation to predict the prism strength of form-block is evaluated. Main parameters in the experiment are type of steel fiber, strength of grout and mortar, and strength of base mortar. As a result, the compressive strength of block and prism strength were improved by adding 1% of steel fiber into block. The ductility of block with steel fiber was improved but was not in prism test. The prism strength of the form-block wall can be properly predicted by using the AIJ equation.
