The purpose of this study is to investigate the dyeing properties and the functionalities of the cotton and silk fabrics dyed with Alnus japonica bark and heartwood extracts. The dyeing properties of the fabrics were studied by investigating the characteristics of the colorants; the effect of dyeing conditions such as dye concentrations, dyeing temperatures, and the duration of dye uptakes; the effect of mordants; and color changes. The study also estimated the colorfastness, antimicrobial abilities, ultraviolet-cut abilities, and deodorant abilities of the dyed fabrics. In the ultraviolet-visible spectrum, the wavelengths of maximum absorption for the Alnus japonica bark and heartwood extracts were found to be 279 and 281 nm, respectively, and tannin was found to be the major colorant component. On the basis of Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) results, tannin was assumed to be hydrolyzable. The dye uptake of silk was better than that of cotton and increased depending on the increasing dye concentration, dyeing time, and dyeing temperature. It showed relatively better affinity toward heartwood than the bark. The dyed fabric without a mordant produced a tan color and showed various other colors depending on the mordant types. The washing fastness was found to be not good, but the light, dry cleaning, and perspiration fastness were moderate. However, the rubbing fastness showed a relatively good grade. The ultraviolet-cut abilities and deodorant abilities of the dyed fabrics were improved. Moreover, the dyed fabrics showed very good antimicrobial abilities of 99.9% against Staphylococcus aureus and Klebsiella pneumoniae.
PET, Tencel, Cotton MVS 혼방사로 제직된 침구용 직물의 성능평가

This study evaluated the performance of bedding fabrics consisting of warp (150d/144f, polyester) and weft (polyester, Tencel and cotton MVS blended spun yarn) with blend ratio of weft. We measured electrostatic propensity, moisture properties, pilling properties and mechanical properties of the fabrics for this study. F-P fabric showed outstanding moisture properties and pilling properties. However, tensile properties and electrostatic propensity were relatively inferior to other characteristic values. Significant static electricity may make F-P fabric uncomfortable. F-P7C3 fabric showed outstanding moisture properties and pilling properties. Static electricity may make F-P7C3 fabric uncomfortable; in addition, F-P5C5 fabric showed outstanding moisture properties and pilling properties. Rough and stiff hand feel were expected to increase because tensile properties decreased and surface properties increased. F-C fabric showed outstanding pilling properties and electrostatic propensity. However, it showed inferior moisture control properties. F-P5T4C1 fabric showed outstanding moisture properties, pilling properties and electrostatic propensity. Several properties are outstanding; however, the hand feels are very rough and stiff from bending. The water evaporation and static electricity increased with increasing polyester content. As the content of cotton increased, tensile properties were improved. However, water evaporation and static electricity decreased. The addition of Tencel increased the thickness and compression energy so that it exhibited a soft characteristic upon compression and an excellent moisture control properties, but the surface became somewhat coarse.

This study investigates the physical properties of Murata Vortex Spinning (MVS) blended yarn with yarn count(20’s, 30’s, 40’s) and blend ratio(Polyester 100, Polyester70:Cotton30, Polyester50:Cotton50, Polyester30:Cotton70, and Polyester50:Tencel40:Cotton10). This study evaluated tenacity, elongation, bending rigidity, bending hysteresis, hairiness coefficient, irregularity and twist number. The structure of MVS blended yarninfluenced stress, strain, bending rigidity, bending hysteresis and the hairiness coefficient of MVS blended yarn decreased as the yarn count increased. MVS blended yarn consists of core and sheath. The core of MVS blended yarn is composed of a parallel fiber with a wrapping fiber that covers thecore fiber. This special structure of the MVS blended yarn effects the physical properties of the yarn; in addition, the mechanical properties of the component fibers influenced the stress, strain, bending rigidity, bending hysteresis and hairiness coefficient of MVS blended yarn with the blend ratio. Polyester decreases and cotton increases resulted in decreased physical properties. Asimilarpolyester content increased thetencel and physical properties. Appropriate physical properties and a variety of touch expression can be realized through a correct blend ratio.
도트 무늬의 크기와 간격에 따른 침구류 직물 선호도에 대한 연구

The purpose of this study is to investigate consumer needs, image sensibility and preference of bedding fabric according to size and spacing of dot pattern. 18 kinds of dot pattern fabrics were designed with different diameters(6, 8, 10cm) and distances(4, 7, 10cm) in regular arrangement of diamond figure. The subjects were 162 male and female university students. The data were analyzed by SPSS 24.0. Fabrics were assessed subjectively using a 5-point scale 17 consumer needs and 33 sensory descriptors. The most consumer’s needs for bedding fabric was shown to be functionality of bedding including hygiene, touch, warmth, ease of washing and management, air permeability, and hygroscopicity. The other parameters of consumer’s needs were shown to be physical property and design parameter. The results of analysis of the dimension of image sensibility for fabrics with different size and spacing of dots are derived from six factors including joyfulness, coziness, uniqueness, charm, femininity, and complexity. As a result of analysis of preference with fabric kinds, there was a significant difference in preference with fabrics. The preferred fabrics were characterized by the pattern and the base fabric being striking three-dimensionally with 1/3 twill and 3/1 twill fabric. Sensory descriptors related to joyful image and unique image were analyzed as evaluation terms that can distinguish the preferences of fabrics. Correlation analysis showed the fabrics are preferred as the difference in luminance and reflectance between the base and pattern of the fabric become larger and the spacing of patterns become closer.
써멀마네킨을 이용한 군용 방한복의 보온성 평가에 관한 연구

This paper proposes a novel test method for the evaluation of thermal insulation capability of military cold-weather clothing. A new evaluation method for thermal insulation using a thermal manikin was developed, and the thermal insulation capabilities of various materials were tested using the proposed method. The experiment was conducted under environmental conditions similar to that of actual military operations. The thermal insulation capability and specific mass were evaluated for 31 innerwear and 9 outerwear items. The criteria for selecting the optimal winter clothing was proposed through the statistical analysis of the results of the experiments.

3년(’14년~’16년)에 걸쳐 스피드 스케이팅 경기복에 대한 항력 특성 분석을 위한 풍동시험 연구를 수행하였다. 풍동시험의 목적은 한국스포츠 개발원에서 스피드 스케이팅 경기력 향상을 위해 개발한 경기복에 대해 기존의 제품과의 항력특성을 분석하는 것이다. 항력특성을 분석을 위해 실제 스피드 스케이팅 경기중 가장 많은 비중을 차지하는 Glide 포즈 형상의 마네킹을 제작하여 경기복을 착용시킨 후 항력을 측정하였다. 데이터의 신뢰성을 확보하기 위해 각 경기복 별로 3회 반복시험을 실시하였으며, 시험결과 한국스포츠 개발원에서 개발한 경기복이 기존의 시제품보다 0.6 ~ 2.7%가량의 항력 저감효과가 있는 것으로 확인하였다. A wind tunnel study for drag reduction of speed skating suits were performed at KAFA subsonic wind tunnel laboratory in the past three years. The objective of wind tunnel test is to analyze the drag characteristics of newly developed speed skating suit by comparing existing suits. In this study, 1 newly developed suits and 4 existing suits were performed in wind tunnel test. Three repetition test are performed to verify the accuracy of experimental data. The results show that the drag characteristics of newly developed suits better than the existing ones, which reduced the total drag by 0.6~2.7%.
