Ceramics are very difficult-to-cut materials because of its high strength and hardness. In this study, to give good machinability to the ceramics, hBN powders are added to AIN by volume of 10, 15 and 20%. The effect of content on mechanical properties, crack propagation and machinability of based machinable ceramics were investigate. Also, As a result of rapping test process, the surface have good rough condition fewer than 0.5㎛(Ra). Get results can be used to develop machinable ceramics of good material properties and machinability.

In this study, machining characteristics of AIN-hBN composites were evaluated in end-milling process. As a first step, AIN-hBN composite specimens with various hBN contents were prepared using hot press method. Material properties of the composites, such as relative density, Young's modulus and fracture toughness, were measured and compared. Then, a series of end-milling experinients were performed under various cutting conditions by changing cutting speed, depth-of-cut and feed rate. Cutting force variations were measured using a tool dynamometer during the cutting experiments. Machined surfaces of the specimens were observed using SEM and a surface pro filer to investigate the surface integrity changes. The cutting force decreased with an increases of hBN content. The cutting process was almost impossible for monolithic AIN, owing to severe chipping. In contrast, at high content of hBN, surface damage and chipping decreased, and better surface roughness can be obtained.
금속 박판 Al/Al 및 Al/Cu의 초음파 용착 접합성 평가

This paper describes an experimental study on ultrasonic welding of similar and dissimilar metals. There are optimum welding conditions which are found for welding of Al/Al and Al/Cu. It evaluated weldability using tensile test, SEM observation and EDX-ray analysis. Both ultrasonic welding of Al/Al and Al/Cu have amplitude as the variable factor. Al/Cu welding was examined again with welding time as variable factor to find the best conditions. The more welding time or amplitude increase, the better weldability. The optimum conditions for ultrasonic welding of Al/Al were formed at pressure 0.25 MPa, welding time 0.25 sec, amplitude 90%. Pressure 0.25 MPa, welding time 0.4 sec, amplitude 80% are optimized for Al/Cu ultrasonic metal welding and solid-state diffusion generated by ultrasonic vibration and frictional heat is confirmed at the welded interface.

This study manufactured a minimum quantity lubrication (MQL) supply system and identified the optimal MQL machining cutting conditions for plastic mold steel (SCM440). A series of experiments were consisted of twice. Optimal cutting conditions were derived using the Taguchi method, and cutting force variance; surface roughness; tool wear; and cutting temperature in dry, wet, and MQL machining were measured experimentally for these optimal conditions. The measured results decreased from dry to wet and MQL machining, being particularly large for dry machining due to increased cutting time. Measured MQL machining metrics were similar to those for wet machining, particularly for surface roughness, which is an index of machining quality.
