        저농도 복합유기용제 노출근로자의 신기능 변화에 관한 연구

        Objectives: The authors evaluated the effects on renal function of workers chronically exposed to low-level organic solvent mixtures. Methods : The authors measured the level of urine β 2-microglobulin(β2-MG) and microalbumin as biochemical markers or renal function and damage in 29 male workers exposed to organic solvents for more than five years and compared their results with those of 30 male office clerks as a reference group. Results: 1. The mean values of hemoglobin, hematocrit, SGOT, SGPT, γ-GTP were all with in normal limits and there was no significant difference, except for hemoglobin(p<0.01), between exposed and reference group. 2. The value of BUN and serum creatinine were within reference limits and there was no significant difference between exposed and reference group. 3. The difference of mean values of urine microalbumin corrected by urine creatinine were statistically significant(p<0.01), but those of urine β2-MG was not. 4. There were no correlation of urine hippuric acids with BUN, serum creatinine, urine microalbumin and β2-MG. 5. There were no significant difference of BUN, serum creatinine, urine microalbumin and β2-MG upon work duration. Conclusion: It is assumed that chronic low-level organic solvent exposure in these workers shows early renal dysfunction, glomerular changes. The result corresponds to previous studies showing the relationship between hydro-carbon exposure and glomerulonephritis. For evaluation of impairment on kidney tubules, we need further study using more precise markets and long-term follow-up.

        다상공존형 Al-Li 합금의 계면제어에 의한 인성개선

        For the purpose of ameliorating of toughness by boundary control, Be was added to Al-Li multiphase alloys. Interface behaviors during ageing were investigated by means of the measurements of hardness and tensile strength, and also the observation of optical and transmission electron micrographs. In order to evaluate the fracture toughness, instrumented Charpy impact test was carried out and fracture surface was observed with a scanning electron micrograph. Grain size was refined by α-Be particles that acted on dragging force at grain boundary in Al-Li-Cu-Be alloy. And PFZ half width in Al-Li-Cu-Be alloy was decreased by early precipitation of T₁ phases compared with Be-free alloy. Double eak phenomenon which was observed at the hardness and tensile tests in Al-Li-Cu-Zr-Be alloy may be estmated by the precipitation of secondary T₁ phases due to the change of δ′, T₁ and θ′ phases stability. And considering toughness and elongation, it is possible to think that the secon peak condition may be the most optimum condition of heat treatment because of the remarkable improvement of elongation in Al-Li-Cu-Zr-Be alloy. In case of Al-Li-Cu-Zr alloy containing minor Be, higher impact absorbed energy than that of Be-free alloy was observed. This remarkable improvement of fracture toughness was attributed to the change of fracture mechanism from brittle to ductile mode. the high energy fracture mode of minor Be added alloy was associated with homogeneous deformation due to various interface controls.

        상완골 간부 골절의 금속판 내고정술과 Ender 정 고정술과의 치료 비교

        The humerus is anatomically and physiologically unique bone: firstly, it is a non-weight bearing bone; secondly, it has greatest range of motion; thirdly, while the person is standing, the axis of bone hangs vertically and is influenced by gravity, and conservative methods are usually used in treatment. However, in the cases of closed reduction failure, open fracture, multiple fracture, and old age etc, operative methods may be employed. This decision should be based on the type, location of fracture, the presence of concomittent injuries, the age, and the general condition of the patient. When open reduction and internal fixation is carried out, the periosteum and soft tissue attachment is stripped off and operative time is longer. Flexible Ender nailing is a simple procedure which does not disrupt or strip off periosteum and soft tissue at the fracture site, and decreases the chance of infection and allows early exercise. Authors carried out fixation in 28 patients and Ender nailing in 24 patients having humeral shaft fractures who were treated at the orthopedic department, Hae Dong hospital from March, 1990 to February, 1994.
