Stress or march fractures among military personnel, especially recruits, has been appreciated for many years. According to the classical references, the second metatarsal was one of the first sites identified as a focus for march fractures and radiological evidence of fracture appeared as late as several weeks. The purpose of this study was to document the clinical feature of march fractures in Korean infantry soldiers. From 1997 to 1998, at one infantry medical company of OO infantry corps in Korea, 15 (19cases) patients with march fracture were detected among infantry soldiers. There were some different finding in the fracture site and its clinical features from the previous foreign reports. 1. There were pain and local swelling in all cases as clinical manifestation. By physical examination, direct point tenderness on the location of the fractured metatarsal shaft was characteristic. 2. On roentgenographic examination, cortical fissuring or break was seen one week after onset of symptoms and external callus was seen from two weeks or at the least four weeks. Oblique view was more useful than AP view in the diagnosis of march fractures. 3. The third metatarsal was the most frequently involved site(7 cases, 48%). and the second metatarsal was Jess frequent(3 cases, 20%). This difference of frequent site with previous reports might be attributed to the relatively long shaft of the third metatarsal, but should be analyzed in further study. 4. The incidence of the development of march fracture was 1 per 104 infantry soldiers.

The fact that, under similar training activities performed in the same environment, march fractures develop in only a certain percentage of the trainees indicates that intrinsic factors are affecting the prevalence of these fractures. Among these intrinsic factors, the relation between foot arch type and the occurance of march fractures was investigated in this study. From 1997 to 1998, at one infantry medical company of infantry corps in Korea, 15 march fracture patients were detected among infantry soldiers. Quantitative measures of the foot arch (longitudinal) structure of 15(30feet) march fracture patients were established and compared with those of 15(30feet) normal person. The results were as follows. 1. From the lateral X-ray film, three parameters (i.e. calcaneal angle, forefoot angle, height to length ratio)were defined to describe the structure of the longitudinal arch of the foot. 2. The mean value of the calcaneal angle of march fracture group and normal control group showed 16.4 degree, 20.5 degree respectively. The difference between two groups was statistically significant (P>0.006), but those of forefoot angle and height to length ratio were not. 3. In the calcaneal angle twenty-six feet(87%) of march fracture group were lower than 17 degrees but twenty-five feet(83%) of normal control group were more than 17 degrees. That is, march fracture were more prevalent in feet with low calcaneal angle. 4. In the low arch foot, the orthotic device might relieve the energy load carried by the foot, thus reducing the incidence of march fractures, and should be analyzed in further study.
전류형 HVDC 성능 개선에 대한 연구 (STATCOM를 중점으로)

우리나라 HVDC 시스템은 제주1호기, 2호기에 이어 제주와 육지간 HVDC와 북당진-고덕 HVDC, 동해안 HVDC를 계획하고 있다. 특히 북당진-고덕 HVDC 시스템은 Back to Back scheme 특성 가지며, 이벤트 발생 시 HVDC Run-up기능을 동작하면, 낮은 DC 전압으로 인해 DC 전력이 목표치에 상승하지 못하는 문제가 발생한다. 북당진-고덕 HVDC의 고덕 측의 TOV(Temporary Over Voltage)의 문제를 해결하기 위해 STATCOM을 설치하였다. 실시간 계통해석 시뮬레이터(RTDS)를 이용하여 전압원 모델을 HVDC 양 단에 설치하고 인버터단에 STATCOM을 투입하여 시뮬레이션 하였다. STATCOM의 AC전압을 유지시키려는 특성으로 인해 투입 전보다 DC 전력이 상승하지 못하는 결과를 보여, STATCOM의 Vset 전압을 높여, AC 전압, DC 전압 또한 상승시켜, DC 전력을 목표치까지 출력하는것을 확인하였다.향후에는 우리나라 전계통을 이용하여, 765kV 선로로 시뮬레이션하여 이벤트 발생 시 STATCOM 의 설정전압에 대해 정밀한 모의가 필요하고, 동해안 HVDC 구축 시 두 HVDC의 모의시뮬레이션이 필요하다. Following Jeju Units 1 and 2, Korea’s HVDC system is planning HVDC between Jeju and the mainland, HVDC between Bukdangjin and Godeok, and HVDC on the east coast. In particular, the Bukdangjin-Godeok HVDC system has a Back to Back scheme characteristic, and when the HVDC Run-up function is activated when an event occurs, a problem occurs in which DC power does not rise to the target value due to low DC voltage. STATCOM was installed to solve the TOV (Temporary Over Voltage) problem on the Godeok side of the Bukdangjin-Godeok HVDC. Using a real-time system analysis simulator (RTDS), a voltage source model was installed on both ends of the HVDC and STATCOM was input into the inverter for simulation. Due to the characteristic of STATCOM trying to maintain the AC voltage, the DC power did not increase compared to before input, so by increasing the Vset voltage of STATCOM, the AC voltage and DC voltage were also increased, and it was confirmed that the DC power was output up to the target value. In the future, Using Korea’s electric system, a 765kV line is simulated to accurately simulate the set voltage of STATCOM when an event occurs, and when constructing an East Coast HVDC, the correlation between two HVDCs is needed to be simulated.
인체 표피 Langerhans 세포의 농축수호법과 자가 및 동종 임파구에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구

Separation of Langerhans cells in epidermis of 16 healthy Korean individuals were performcd. Separation of Langerhans cells by density gradient centrifugation on a colloidal sillica(percoll) polyvinilpyrrolidone gradient. And autologous, allogeneic mixed skin cell leukocyte culture reaction was done with each fractionatcd cpidermal cell suspensions. Also lymphocytes, epidermal cells was cultured in media alone, respectively. The results was quantitated by the incorporation of H-thymidine by p-liquid scintillation counter. The densities of I angerhans cells within the epidermal cells, fraction-2 was most higher concentration (22.0+2.8%) and fraction-5 was most lower concentration (3.4+ l.9%). 2. In the comparison of the results of Langehans cells enriched and depleted population in autologous mixed skin cell leukocyte culture reaction, the former was higher than the latter on lymphocyte stimulatory capacity. There was significant differences(p<0.005) And also same as result in allogeneic mixed skin cell leukocyte culture reaction. 3. Langerhans cells enriched fraction in this study was more lymphocyte stimulatory capacity than depleted fraction in allogeneic mixed skin cell leukocyte culture(p<0.01~0.05). Ailogeneic mixed skin cell leukocyte culture reaction was more lymphocyte stimulatory capacity than the autologous(p<0.005~0.05).

A total of 315 microorgainisms were isolated from 256 pneumonic lung samples of pig in abattoirs of northern Chungnam area during February to November 1994, and identified 97 strains as Pasteurella multocida, 89 strains as Staphylococcus spp, 54 strains as Streptococcus spp, 22 strains as Mycoplasma spp, 21 strains as Escherichia coli, 18 strains as Haemophilus parasuis, 11 strains as Corynebacterium pyogenes, and 3 strains as Actinobacillus spp by Gram`s and Dienes stain, and biological properties test involved API system. After that, they were examined antibiotic susceptibility for ampicillin (AM), cephalothin(CF), chloramphenicol (CP), erythromycin (EM), kanamycin (KM), gentamicin (GM), neomycin(NM), penicillin(PC), streptomycin(SM), tetracycline(TE), tiamulin(TIA), tylosin(TYL), methicillin(DP), colistin(CL) and trimethoprim(SXT). In antibiotics susceptibility test, 293 isolates except Mycoplasma spp 22 strain were highly susceptible to DF(79.2%) and AM(76.2%), but resistant to PC(14.0%), NM(19.5%) and KM(23.2%). The multiple drug resistant paterns were noted inmost isolates, whereas only 7 isolates resistant to single drugs.
