Asian English and the Intersections of East Asian Languages

English is a means of international communication and it has a wide variety around the world. However a single world standard is not needed and will not arise, neither will mutually unintelligible English dialects. In this paper, the interpretation of English in Asian context is taken into intelligible consideration and as an attempt to find out mutual intelligibility and common standards in local areas of Asia, comparison of three Asian languages Chinese/Taiwanese, Japanese, and Korean is given through cross-linguistic investigation, which will be of help to English teachers in Asia, native and non-native speakers alike. The identity of Asian English is not specified yet, and this study will support the argument of Asian English's feasibility

피부 질환 증례 연구를 통한 白虎湯과 白虎加人參湯의 비교

Objective : The purpose of this paper is to analyze the difference between Baekho-tang(白虎湯) and Baekhogainsam-tang(白虎加人蔘湯). Methods : We compared the effect of Baekho-tang on atopic dermatitis and the effect of Baekhogainsam-tang on allergic contact dermatitis. We focused on the level of thirst. Results : After the Baekho-tang treatment, the SCORAD of atopic dermatitis patient decreased 63.8→14.3 and VAS of pruritus on atopic dermatitis patient were improved 8→2 respectively. Meanwhile, after the Baekhogainsam-tang treatment, the VAS of pruritus on allergic contact dermatitis patient was improved 7→2 and the thirst of the patient improved. Conclusions : There is a difference between Baekho-tang and Baekhogainsam-tang at the level of thirst. Baekhogainsam-tang continues to thirst hard enough to find water.

치자벽피탕(梔子檗皮湯)으로 호전을 보인 아토피피부염의 치험 2례

Objective : This case report presents the effect of Chijabyukpi-tang(梔子檗皮湯) on Atopic Dermatitis. The patient was diagnosed with Yangmyung-Yeoljeung(陽明熱證) based on Shanghanlun provisions. Methods : We have classified the patients according to the shanghanlun six meridian patterns diagnostic system and the patients are treated with Chijabyukpi-tang. The severity of Atopic dermatitis was evaluated by SCORAD index, visual analouge scale(VAS) and pictures. Results : After the treatment, the SCORAD index of 2 patients decreased from 78 to 20.2 and from 67.4 to 38.2 respectively. Conclusions : Although Chijabyukpi-tang is unusual treatment for Atopic dermatitis, this case report showed the effectiveness of using Chijabyukpi-tang on Atopic dermatitis according to shanghanlun six meridian patterns diagnostic system.

Since the mid-1990s, the corporate social responsibility(adhere CSR) has risen as an important issue in Korean company. We have classified 3 effects of CSR activities on corporate performance. That is, this study investigates the relationship between CSR and corporate performance, which are financial performance, marketing performance, human resource and organization performance. Previous literatures discuss how CSR activities influence on corporate performance. But they have not reached at a clear conclusion and the issue is still debate. The relationship between CSR and corporate performance is actually more complicated, so this study is to review literature of various perspective. In this study, CSR management tool proposed for effective and efficiency CSR management by literature review. A right measure is fundamental factor for effective and efficiency CSR management. This study provide fundamental tip for CSR measure using of principles of ISO 26000.

Analysis of putative miRNA function using a novel approach, GAPPS-miRTarGE

Deciphering the function of miRNA is one of the most important research subjects directed toward understanding the regulation of gene expression. Several experimental methodologies and bioinformatics programs have been developed,however, elucidating miRNA function has not been an easy task. Herein, we suggest a new method, GAPPS-miRTarGE,which is a novel methodology for predicting miRNA function based on the proportion of mRNA targets expressed during embryonic developmental stages, the Theilers stages (TS), in mice. GAPPS-miRTarGE is essentially a computational approach that groups miRNAs using shared expression patterns of their target genes during the 28 different TS. In this study,we present not only several examples derived from the GAPPS-miRTarGE analyses that confirm previously known miRNA functions but also examples of function prediction for valid but functionally unknown miRNAs. Furthermore, we show that tissue-centered GAPPS-miRTarGE, such as brain-centered or heart-centered, is useful for predicting miRNA function on a more detailed level.

Application of Mental Spaces to L2 Learning: Configurational Differences in Counterfactuals

When human communication is viewed as building and interpretation of mental spaces, differences of languages are reflection of differences of mental constructions in each language, and learning a second/foreign language is learning the differences of mental constructions. This paper examines the functions and meaning of transfer in L2 acquisition and its relation to mental space theory. In addition, through the investigation of the configurations of mental spaces with conditional statements in English and Korean, the synthetic consideration of second language acquisition sheds a light on the theory of language acquisition.

아토피 피부염의 환경적 요인에 대한 동서의학적 고찰

Objectives : Atopic dermatitis(AD) and environmental factors are closely related, but there is lack of oriental medical examination. So we compared the relationship between AD and various environmental factors in Oriental medicine and Western medicine. Methods : We described the relationship between AD and environmental factors through the latest papers and a review of the oriental medicine literature. Results : The regional diversity of AD incidence implies a close relationship between climate factors and AD, and high altitude and low pH springs also have an effect on AD. Air pollutants from industrialization and urbanization aggravate AD. The increase in indoor residence time and the increase in room temperature and humidity have also increased the sensitization to allergens such as house dust mite. In oriental medicine, wind(風) is one of the environmental factors and is an inflammatory state due to external irritation. Wind-Humidity(風濕) refers to erythematous wetting dermatitis with itching and exudation, Wind-Fever(風熱) refers to acute inflammatory reaction with erythematous papules and plague, and Blood-Weakness(血虛) refers to aggravation and chronicization of inflammation due to persistence of skin barrier impairment. Conclusions : We examined the relationship between AD and various environmental factors. We also described the oriental medical viewpoints of the environmental factors in the occurrence of AD and skin barrier impairment.

아토피 피부염 환아의 정신 건강 분석 및 아토피 피부염 교육을 통한 인식, 인지도 개선에 대한 고찰

Objectives : This study aimed to investigate the awareness improvement of atopic dermatitis(AD) for AD children's parents and to evaluate the mental health condition of AD children and QoL of their parents. Methods : We conducted elementary school visit education(the first education) and recruited children and parents who wanted to participate the hospital visit education(the Second education). In the first education, we lectured about AD, performed survey about QoL and awareness about AD and obtained 48 valid results. In the second education, we performed an education for AD again, skin condition evaluation, mental health analysis survey and obtained 29 valid results. We compared the AD and non-AD groups of each education in the first and second education. We assessed atopic awareness, FDLQI, DFI, CDI, BAI, and KISE scores by gender, age, duration of disease, onset, and severity of AD. Results : Despite children with AD, the survey showed their parents lacked knowledge about AD. However, they acquired the necessary knowledge in AD education. There was a significant difference in the total score of Atopic awareness between the AD group in the first education and the AD group in the second education. (p=0.042) In addition, the CDI and BAI scores of all patients were divided by the duration of disease, and it was estimated that depression and anxiety disorders may be aggravated by longer term illness. Conclusions and Discussions : This study confirmed duration of AD affects AD children's mental health, and verified positive changes in atopic awareness after AD education.
