This study was conducted to identify the trend of military nursing research among the Nursing Officer in Korea and to suggest the direction of future military research in the graduate level. The data were collected from 129 master's and doctoral papers in 1970 to August 2001. The results of the study were as follows: The number of research increased from 27 to 87 between the 1980's and 1990's. the most frequently employed research design was descriptive study in 1980's but some experimental studies had appeared in late 1990's. The most widely studied area was clinical practice in 62%, administration in 20.2%, health system in 5.4%, education in 3.9% respectively. Most of research subjects are soldiers 24.8%, nursing officer 20.2%, respectively. 85.3% of research design were nonexperimental study. 72.1% of nonexperimental studies employed descriptive approach. Most of 70.5% research data collection tool were self-reporting questionnaire. The key words appeared on the these name were 'nursing officer', 'soldiers', 'stress', 'satisfaction of job', 'military hospital', 'health promotion', 'military', 'leadership', 'Officer'. For the last 30years, military nursing research in the Nursing Officer has developed research methodology in quantity and quality. However, there has been a lack of research on development 'body of knowledge' in Military Nursing. Most of them were at the descriptive level of phenomena and only a few were concerned with effective measures of nursing intervention. Most of researches with repeated studies showed little relation to previous studies, and thus little accumulation in knowledge. There was also little evidence of linkage to nursing theory in most studies. There findings suggest that various research design including qualitative approach, as well as experimental approach should be employed. Further research should be employed to be utilized in military environment, and thus to develop Military Nursing in 21st Century. Future research in Military Nursing should be focused on military hospital, emergency trauma nursing, medical support in War, curriculum development in Military Nursing.
마음챙김 기반한 ‘공감과 소통의 대화’ 수업 후 변화 연구

This study aimed to examine the changes in students’ empathy, communication skills, and mindfulness after mindfulness-based classes on ‘conversation of empathy and communication’, a liberal arts subject. The experimental group consisted of 17 students, and the changes before and after class were examined through questionnaires. As for the control group, the data of 19 students taking general education classes were analyzed. The homogeneity between the control group and the experimental group was confirmed, and the analysis method was carried out by pre-post paired sample t-test using the SPSS program. The dialogue class of empathy and communication uses the dialogue model of nonviolent dialogue (NVC) as a dialogue method based on mindfulness that observes one’s mind as it is at the present moment. Students who participated in the class showed statistically significant changes in perspective acceptance, thought control, and emotional expression among the six sub-competence factors of empathy. These results suggest that this class can be useful basic data for improving the healthy and efficient life of college students.

This study aims to examine the role of meditation to prevent cognitive decline and improve cognitive function due to inefficient functioning of the default mode network during the aging process. As for the research method, literatures were investigated on the relationship between aging and mental illness, the function and role of task-positive networks and default mode networks, their interrelationships, and the role of meditation. The research content of this thesis is that the default mode network performs high-level cognitive functions, but when performing task-related works, the default mode network must be suppressed. However, as this inhibition decreases during the aging process, the mental health status of the elderly is threatened. Meditation practice can prevent cognitive decline in the elderly. Meditation can slow cognitive decline in older people and improve their quality of life by encouraging a healthy lifestyle. These findings suggest that they may help develop new strategies to promote optimal aging.
일부지역 초등학생의 약물남용과 약물에 관한 지식 및 태도

Purpose: To provide basic data for strategy of substance abuse through the investigation of the status of substance abuse and knowledge and attitude about drugs in the elementary students. Method: Subjects were 565 6th grade of elementary students. Data were collected from June to July 2001 by using structured questionnaire. Result: 1) Among the students of respondents, 10.2% of them had the experience in smoking, 26.7% and 08% of them in drinking and inhalants, respectively. 2) The degree of students' knowledge about substance was 20.9 points on average with the highest score being 30. Students' knowledge about substances, smoking came on top, next came drinking and inhalants followed them. There were no significant differences in the knowledge of substances by general and drug related characteristics of the students. 3) The students' attitude about substances was negative with 30 points on average with the highest score being 108. As for the attitude about substances, they revealed the most generous in drinking next in smoking and inhalants. Those of boys, bored in school life and experienced in substance abuse were significantly generous in the attitude about substances. 4) There was a significant weak inverse relationship between the student's knowledge and attitude about substances (r=-0.13). As for the relationship between the student's knowledge and attitude about substances, the strongest relationship was shown in inhalants (r=-0.18) next in drinking (r=-0.16) and smoking (r=-0.06). Conclusion: The results of the finding suggest that the developing of programs in substance abuse for the elementary students are needed not only for the prevention but also for the cessation.
