The number of grandparents who have responsibility for raising their grandchildren is growing. This study seeks to understand the grandmothers' needs about parenting their grandchildren. The following questions were set up for this study. 1. What is the difficulties about grandmothers' surrogate parenting their grandchildren? 2. What is the grandmothers' needs about surrogate parenting their grandchildren? Twelve grandmothers were individually interviewed. The contents of the interviews were transcribed and collected cases were encoded and classified into appropriate categories. The following results were obtained from the study. First, grandmothers have much difficulties because of the lost of their spare time, exhaustion, alienation, and the conflict between family members. Second, grandmothers demand complex-facilities, educational information, community network, and economical support. The study's limitations are discussed and suggestions made for further studies.

본 연구는 유아교사 및 유아의 어머니 면담을 통하여 유아교사와 어머니 간 의사소통에 대한 경험과 인식을 질적 분석하고 의사소통 저해 요인을 탐색하였다. 연구 결과, 의사소통 저해 요인 중 교사 요인은 부모의 요구에 대한 교사의 낮은 수용 수준, 교사의 전달력과 의사소통 기술 부족, 자녀양육 경험이 없는 교사가 느끼는 유능감의 한계로 나타났다. 부모 요인은 타인에 대한 배려나 감정 통제에 앞서는 자녀양육의 압박감, 조부모 등 대리양육자의 전달 과정에서 빚어지는 오해, 부정적 평가에 대한 반감과 회피로 나타났다. 교사?부모 복합 요인으로는 부모의 양육관과 교사의 교육관 간 충돌, 상호 간 과잉 해석을 들 수 있다. 상황 요인은 전문가의 권위를 빌려 권고해야 하는 교사의 낮은 위상, 책임소재가 불분명하고 교사에 따라 다른 의견을 전달하게 되는 종일반의 특수성, 학교 폭력 현상에 대한 사회적 불안감 확산 및 학부모 민원의 증가로 나타나 교육 현장에 시사점을 제공하였다. The purpose of this study is to find the implications for successful parent-teacher communication of the mothers and early childhood teachers through analyzing experiences and awareness on teacher-parent communication. For this qualitative study, 10 mothers and 10 teachers of young children were interviewed with the face to face method. The results of this study are categorized into two themes - hindrance factors and promotional factors of communication by the procedure of qualitative data analysis. As a result of teachers"s side, the hindrance factors of communication appear as the insensibility of teachers, the lacks of communication skills, and a feeling of helplessness. As a result of parents"s side, the hindrance factors of communication appeared as stress of bringing up, misunderstanding caused by grandparents, refusal or avoidance Finally, there should be environmental and institutional foundations to provide them with supports to promote teachers-mothers communication efficiently.
