The purpose of this study was to develop a suitable jacket pattern for elderly women. The subjects were two women of the ages of 65∼70, who had different bust size. To reflect the ready made pattern drafting system, 4 industrial patterns were selected. After analyzing the problems of these patterns, a new jacket pattern was proposed. The results were as follows : 1) The amount of appropriate ease in fitted jacket for elderly women was about 10cm at the bust circumference, 10∼12cm at the hip circumference and the height of sleeve cap was AH/3+0.5cm. 2) Considering an enlargement of waist and abdomen, difference between front and back size was 2cm on the bust line, 6∼8cm on the waist and hip line. 3) Because of the shape of concavity of back-waist, center back line in the pattern was folded by 0.5cm from center back waist toward side seam for manipulation. 4) The new jacket pattern was compared with the existing pattern through the wearing test by sensory evaluation. It showed that the fit and comfort of experimental pattern was superior to those of the existing pattern.

This study selected clothing materials that are frequently used in summer season. These are 100% ramie, ramie / cotton, ramie polyester, and ramie / rayon. With these materials, the writer analysed their shrinkage rate from laundering and dry-cleaning. The results are as followings. 1. The Shrinkage Rate as the number of laundering. The shrinkage rate from the first time of laundering the above 4 materials showed the greatest increasing amount on their warp and weft. And then repeated laundering showed a little difference in shrinkage rate. 2. The Shrinkage Rate was generally greater in the warp than in the waft. 3. The Shrinkage Rate was Shown Within 0.7% from the first Drycleaning. And, after that another time of laundering showed less shrinkage rate than the case of laundering only, but repeated laundering showed little difference. 4. The Differences of Shrinkage in the Materials. 100% Ramie showed the greatest change and then ramie / cotton the second, ramie / rayon the third, and ramie / polyster showed the least shrinkage rate.

This study was performed to classify the torso somatotype of elderly women and to analyze the characteristics of each somatotype The subjects were 320 elderly women aged from 60 to 85. Data were collected from anthropometric measurements of each subject and analyzed by factor analysis of principle component model, cluster analysis, analysis of variance and duncan test. Seven factors were extracted from the factor analysis. Through cluster analysis using 7 factor scores, four types were categorized. The characteristics of these four types are as follows: (1) Type 1 is characterized by tall and slender types, and straight posture from the lateral view. (2) Type 2 is characterized by medium height and medium-sized types, and straight posture from the lateral view. (3) Type 3 is characterized by short and medium-sized types, and the back bodice length is short in comparison to the front bodice length. It is also characterized by protruding abdomens, result in a backward-bending lateral view. (4) Type 4 is characterized by tall and obese physiques, and the front bodice length is short comparison to the back bodice length, resulting in a forward-bending lateral view.

The purpose of this study is to provide total information for elderly women's clothing construction by classifying and analyzing the characteristics of their lower body types. Three hundred three subjects, between the ages of 60 and 82, were chosen. The data were collected from 37 anthropometric measurements of each subject and analyzed by the multivariate method. Through the factor analysis of principal component model, eight factors were extracted from anthropometric measurements. The most important factors were obesity, vertical size, and shape of below waistline to hip. The subjects were classified into 5 types according to cluster analysis by Ward's minimum variance method. The dominent types were type 1, 2. The chracteristics of type 1 are average height and sized types, a greater difference between hip and waist. The charateristics of type 2 are shorter height and comparatively fat types, fatness of the waist and abdomen.
