휴리스틱 평가 방법을 이용한 웹 애플리케이션의 사용성 측정

본 논문은 Jakob Nielsen이 개발한 휴리스틱 평가 방법론을 사용하여 웹 애플리케이션의 사용자 인터페이스/사용자 경험(UI/UX)에 대한 사용성(Usability) 측정에 대한 연구 결과를 담고 있다. 웹 애플리케이션의 사용성은 학습성(Learnability), 효율성(Efficiency), 기억성(Memorability), 오류(Errors) 및 (Satisfaction) 이렇게 다섯 가지 구성 요소로 부터 도출한 총 열 개의 측정 항목을 기초로 하며, 본 논문에서 선택한 사용성 측정 대상은 Web Programming UNPAS라는 인도네시아어 기반의 학습용 웹 애플리케이션이다. 사용성 측정 과정은 우선 웹사이트의 구성 요소를 분석하고, 웹사이트 개발자와 인터뷰하며, 여러 전문가 패널에게 설문을 배포해 열 개의 측정 항목에 대해 각각 개선의 긴급성에 따라 다섯 가지 등급의 심각도(Severity) 점수를 매기는 방식으로 진행된다. 수집한 모든 데이터는 휴리스틱 평가 방법론에 적용되어 개선이 필요한 구성 요소를 도출하게 되고, 개선 권고를 반영한 웹 애플리케이션의 UI/UX 모형 디자인이 만들어지면 동일한 과정을 통해 사용성을 재측정하여 사용성이 향상되었는 지를 검증하는 과정으로 진행된다. This paper presents the results of usability measurement for user interface/user experience (UI/UX) of web applications using a heuristic evaluation methodology developed by Jakob Nielsen. The usability of a web application is based on ten metrics derived from five components: Learnability, Efficiency, Memorability, Errors, and Satisfaction. The usability measurement target in this paper is an Indonesian-based learning web application called Web Programming UNPAS. The usability measurement process consists of analyzing the website components, interviewing the website developer, and distributing a questionnaire to experts to rate each of the ten metrics on a five-level severity scale based on the urgency of improvement. The collected data is used in a heuristic evaluation to identify areas for improvement, then create a UI/UX mockup design of the web application that incorporates the recommendations. Lastly, the usability is re-measured using the same process to verify the improvement, showing that the presented methodology can successfully improve the web’s usability.
