Most structures were designed by allowable stress method instead of performance-based design such as pile, foundations etc. Nowadaya, several countries have studied on this subjects. In is paper, design schemes of performance-based methods are studied for designsystem, maintenance stages, which more considerations should be continued in geotechnical field.

During the design stage, several design items are required on foundations conditions. New applicability of the code instead of deterministic design code should be confirmed. The guidelines of performance design in foundations can be its specific performance instead of allowable design method in the future.

The performance design required some items of foundations hierarchized in order to increase new acceptability of the code instead of deterministic design code in the construction market. The hierarchy structure of performance design focuses on final systematical requirements to foundation structure for its specific performance instead of allowable design method.
