Micro scratching test using nanoprobe with multi arrayed tip was carried out in this study. New nanoprobe which was widely used in the measurement of micro structures was developed to apply to cutting tool. Therefore, it can be used in scratching applications as well as measuring by changing the tip of probes. When using the probe as cutting tool, the diamond tip of 1×n arrangement was designed to produce multi micro patterns. This process will improve the productivity of manufacturing of micro pattern. In experiments, the angle of a diamond arrangement of tip and pattern intervals were adjusted to find machining characteristics of micro pattern.

Pregnancy-induced hypertension(PIH) is a syndrome of hypertension, proteinuria, generalized edema and occasionally superimposed convulsions after the 20th weeks of gestation. It is a cause of maternal morbidity and mortality. Causes of marternal mortality from PIH include intracranial hemorrage, cerebral edema and pulmonary edema. Mitral regurgitation(MR) is the second most common valvular defect in pregancy, but well tolerated by pregnant women. The reduced systemic vascular resistance characteristic of pregnancy may even reduce the intensity of the murmur of MR becauce of increased forward flow and less backward flow. Acute MR result in a sudden and dramatic increase in left atrial pressure that can lead to pulmonary congestion, pulmonary hypertension and right heart failure. This is a case report of patient with toxemia and MR who underwent emergency cesarean section. She was treated with oxygen, diuretics, steroids, bronchodilators, digitalis, semisitting position, suction and positive end-expiratory pressure(PEEP). She recovered completely. A 6-year-old boy was anesthetized with halothane-N2O-O2 for anal fistulectomy. During induction of anesthesia, trismus developed soon after intravenous injection of S.C,C. and persisted for several minutes, associated with increased serum creatinine phosphokinase (C.P.K.) levels and elevated body temperature only up to 37. 8C (without hyperkalemia & myoglobinuria). The operation was postponed and uneventfully performed 4 days later with a normal limit of serum C.P.K. levels, under premedication by intramuscular injection of Valium(diazepam) and induction of anesthesia with halothane-Oplus intravenous injection of Valium for intubation, without any muscular rigidity or increased serum C.P.K. levels. Therefore the authors think there is a difference between this case and malignant hyperpyrexia following anesthesia, and also that the boy had a hyposensitivity predisposition to S.C.C. rather than halothane. Without accurate investigation for predisposition of muscular rigidity, ve recommended Valium injection for premedication and induction of anesthesia for prevention of the muscular rigidity.

Background : Evidence has accumulated that opioids can produce potent antinociceptive effects by interacting with opioid receptors in peripheral tissues. Bupivacaine is potent analgesic with early peak onset in the postoperative period. The combination of intra-articular bupivacaine and morphine has been suggested as an ideal analgesic after knee arthroscopy. Methods : Thirty patients scheduled for knee arthroscopy under general anesthesia were allocated randomly to two groups. Group 1 received morphine 5 mg in normal saline 25 ml, group 2 received morphine 5 mg in 0.25% bupivacaine 25 ml intraarticularly, and all solutions contained 1:200,000 epinephrine. Tourniquet was inflated above knee joint for 10 minutes after injection in each of the patients. Postoperative pain was assessed using the visual analogue scale at 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 12 and 24 hours after the intra-articular injection. The need for supplemental analgesic was recorded. Results : Patients in the group 2 had lower pain scores than group 1 at first and second hour. There were no significant differences from 3 hours to 24 hours postoperative period. Supplemental analgesic requirements were significantly greater in group 1 than group 2 for the first 3 hours. Conclusions : It is concluded that, after knee arthroscopy, intra-articular morphine 5 mg in 0.25% bupivacaine 25 ml results in satisfactory analgesia with small amount of supplementary analgesic.
