        This study aims to develop the information service system of integrated seakeeping performance for seagoing vessels. It has been successful in developing the intended system which has made possible to provide the following functions and capabilities. o immediate computation of the dynamic motions of a ship against the present and future weather conditions; o evaluation of the integrated seakeeping performance of a ship on a real time basis and providing the navigators with the seakeeping informations on the spot enabling them to take the most appropriate countermeasures; and o supporting the navigators in the selection of a safe sailing route by providing the integrate seakeeping performance.

        선박의 연료소모량 절감을 위한 항해 속력에 관한 연구

        최근 국제 원유가의 폭등으로 선박의 연료비 부담이 상대적으로 가중되고 있으며, 또한 연료의 연소과정에서 발생하는 온실가스에 대한 국제적 규제 움직임도 가속되고 있다. 이와 같은 상황에서, 온실가스의 배출을 최소화하면서 연료소모량을 줄이기 위해 많은 선사들이 감속운항을 취하고 있으며, 선박용 엔진 개발 분야에서는 엔진의 연료 효율성 개선 문제와 대체에너지 사용 분야에 주력하고 있다. 따라서, 본 연구에서는 실제 해상에서의 선속대비 연료소모량을 계측하고, 건조과정에서 실시된 육상 엔진실험 자료와 2007~2009년까지의 AB-LOG를 분석하여, 특정 외력조건에서의 대상선박에 대한 연료소모량을 고려한 최적의 속력을 14~15노트, 주기관의 RPM을 140~150 RPM으로 제안하였다. Recently, due to the rapid rise of the international oil price, the burden of fuel oil expense is relatively increasing in a ship. And the international restriction of the greenhouse gas which was generated from the burning of fuel oil is also rapidly strengthened. Therefore, to reduce the greenhouse gas and fuel oil consumption, many shipping company adopted the low speed navigation and it was focused on the improvement of fuel consumption efficiency and the usage of alternative energy in the marine engine development field. In this paper, the fuel oil consumption according to the ship's speed was measured in the actual seas and analyzed the shop test results in the shipyard and the ship navigation data from the abstract log. And then it was proposed that the ship's economic speed was 14~15kts and the optimum rpm was 140~150 in specific sea conditions.

      • 실시간 기상정보를 이용한 선박의 종합내항성능 평가에 관한 연구

        There is a limitation for a ship which is sailing on sea to gather weather and seastate informations. To make up for this weakness, land organizations can gather wider variety of information and evaluate the seakeeping performanceon ship. And supply this information to the ship. In this study, calculated the response amplitude of shp motions with the weather information provided in real time, the nominal speed loss with obtaining increase of resistance caused by wave and stochastic process of the seakeeping performance elements. And the results have been achieved to develop a system which can evaluate the synthetic seakeeping performance. Using this system, the results have been studied to determine the feasibility of using simulation in actural operation onboard ship.

      • 선박의 항해중 종합내항성능지표에 관한 연구

        This paper presented a method of evaluating navigational safety of a ship by means of the integrated seakeeping performance index(ISPI). The ISPI is defined by measuring only any one factor through the medium of relative dangerousness of the other factors for evaluating seakeeping performance. This evaluation method can be applied to the ships for any types and loading condtions. In developing the practical evaluation system of navigational safety, it is expected to be useful to solve the difficulties in measuring factors by sensors. The results are also useful for developing the optimum type of ship by applying at the initial design phase.

      • 선박 탑재형 내항성능 평가시스템 개발 (1) : 내항성능 평가요소의 상대위험도 D/B 구축

        본 연구의 목적은 항해하고 있는 선박의 항해안전성을 평가할 수 있는 탑재형 내항성능 평가시스템 개발을 위한 각 내항성능 평가요소에 대한 상대위험도 D/B을 구축하고자 한다. 탑재형 내항성능 평가시스템은, 선박에 설치하여 선체 운동에 의해 발생하는 상하방향의 가속도를 측정하는 상하가속도 측정기와, 선박의 항해 안전성을 평가하는 종합내항성능지표를 계산하는 컴퓨터 및 종합 내항성능지표를 토대로 내항성능 평가도 및 경과도를 모니터 화상 처리 공간상에 표시되도록 구성되어진다. 본 논문에서는 이중에서 선박의 변환 평가치 및 한계 평가치를 사용하여 파랑 중 선박의 종합적인 항해안전성을 평가하는 종합내항성능지표를 계산하는데 필요한 내항성능 평가 프로그램의 알고리즘에서 중요한 역할을 담당하는 내항성능 평가요소의 상대위험도 D/B를 구축하는 방법을 제시한다. 그리고 모델 선박을 사용하여 구축된 상대위험도 함수가 주어진 화물 적재상태, 해상상태, 파향 및 선속에 대한 해당 조건을 토대로 내항성능평가 프로그램에서 정확하게 구현될 수 있는지를 검토하였다. The final goal of this research is to establish the relative dangerousness D/B for factors on seakeeping performance. This D/B is essential, to develope the seakeeping performance evaluation system built-on-ship. The system is composed of the apparatus for measuring a vertical acceleration to be generated by the ship's motions, computer for calculating the synthetic seakeeping performance index and monitor for displaying the evaluating diagram of navigational safety of ship. In this paper, a methodology on the establishment of the relative dangerousness D/B for factors on seakeeping performance is presented by a numerical simulations, playing an important role on the algorithm of the program for calculating the synthetic seakeeping performance index. Finally, It is investigated whether the relative dangerousness D/B can be realized an accurate values according to the loading conditions, weather conditions, wave directions and present ship's speed of a model ship.

      • 安全空間 設定에 의한 船舶 耐航性能의 評價시스템 開發에 관한 硏究

        The recently-developed automated vessels require a system which evaluates the operating condition of the ship at present position from weather information as well as sensors; forecasts the operation condition in the sea state to come in foreseeable future; and suggests the optimum course and speed for ship's safety. According to a study, deck wetness, propeller racing, slamming, rolling, vertical acceleration, lateral acceleration, vertical bending moment at midship etc. were chosen as the factors for evaluating seakeeping performance. As a matter of fact, there is no developing the hardware of a system which could consider all the factors on seakeeping performance. This study introduces a theoretical method which makes it possible to evaluate the seakeeping performance by applying a theory from reliability engineering, and thereby establishing a safety space. The author adopts rolling and pitching as the factors on seakeeping performance by clarifying the correlation of stochastic processes with the factors presently adopted for evaluating seakeeping performance, and develops the overall seakeeping performance evaluation system in consideration of the safety of human being, cargoes and the ship. This method of evaluation shall be of much use in developing the practical system of seakeeping performance of a ship in waves.

        It is of great importance for any vessel under way, especially in rough sea, to be maneuvered safely with proper seakeeping performance. In this paper, the author aims to develope a navigational safety evaluation system in rough sea by analyzing ship’s motion with the theory of wave spectrum using random process analysis and the theory of evaluating the seakeeping performance. The author suggests a computer model of navigational safety evaluation system and examined the validity of the model by computer simulation.

      • 벌크선의 積載狀態에 따른 航海安全性 評價에 관한 硏究

        A method for quantitative evaluation of the navigational safety of a bulk carrier according to different loading conditions is presented here. Generally, the navigational safety of a ship in various loading condotions is evaluated by a loamanual. However, the loading manual of ship handles only statical factors such as weight and buoyancy of ship without including any wave conditions. Practically ship's safety is much concerned with ship's actions on the rough sea as propeller racing, rolling, deck wetness, vertical acceleration, lateral acceleration, and slamming. These phenomenonena are occurred not by wave or ship's conditions independently but by coreactions of wave and ship's conditions. Response amplitude of ship's motion is manipulated by ordinary strip method(OSM) on a given bulk carrier of 170,000 deadweight tonnage under 6, 7, 8 and 9 Beaufort scale of sea states. Author applied each response amplitude of ship's motion induced by OSM to short-crested and irregular waves for stochastic process of phenomenonena on navigational safety of the bulk carrier. And the occurrence probability of the phenomenon is caculated by Rayleigh's joint probability density function according to different speed and loading conditions of the ship. Utilizing the evaluation indicies, the dangerousness, the maximum dangerousness and the evaluation diagram on the results, author depicted the general safety evaluation diagram. In order to make evaluation simple and effective, author adopted propeller racing and ship's rolling as the representative factors on navigational safety in bulk carrier through clarifying the correlation of factors of stochastic process. The simulation model of the study is 259.00m Lpp, 170,000 d.w.t, single screw, diesel engine operated bulk carrier. And the loading conditions adopted are four, homogeneous full loaded, half loaded, heavy ballast loaded, and normal ballast loaded conditions. This study has presented some different results of dangerousness on ship's varied loading conditions. By applying the evaluation diagrames, navigators are able to avoid dangerousness by keeping away of the danger encountering angle of wave direction which the diagram showes. This evaluation method may be useful for developing the practical safety evaluation system of ships as well as human beings and cargoes at sea.

      • 몰수평판에 작용하는 Radiation 유체력에 관한 연구

        라디에이션(radiation) 문제를 해결하기 위해서 중합격자법을 개발하였다. 중합격자계는 이동격자계와 고정격자계로 이루어져 있으며 이동격자계는 운동하는 물체에 적용되어 운동하는 물체와 동시에 이동된다. 이러한 수치계산법은 자유표면 부근에서 운동하는 몰수평판에 작용하는 라디에이션 유체력을 계산하는데 응용되었다. 현재의 수치계산법에 의한 결과는 실험값 및 선형포텐샬 이론에 의한 결과와 상호 비교하였으며, 수치계산의 신뢰성을 확인하였다. 그리고, 몰수평판에 작용하는 비선형 점성감쇄효과에 대하여 평가하였다. We have developed a composite grid method for the solution of the radiation problem. We divide the domain into two different grids; one is a moving grid system and the other is a fixed grid system. This numerical method is applied to calculation of the radiation forces generated by the submerged plate oscillating near a free surface. The experimental data are compared with the numerical ones obtained by the present method and a linear potential theory. As a result we can confirm the accuracy of the present method. Finally, we have evaluated the effect of nonlinear and viscous damping on the hydrodynamic forces acting on the submerged plate.
