Effects of Anchored Instruction Utilizing Algorithms in Elementary Mathematics Class

Overcoming an inert knowledge has became an utmost issue in educational field as there were unceasing efforts to make learning practical and integrative. In Korea the 2009 National Reformed Curriculum has also emphasized that elementary mathematics learner should be able to utilize the mathematical knowledges in their own context, and find learning meaningful. In this context, the study will analyze effects of the Anchored Instruction utilizing algorithm in mathematics class of elementary schools on the learners`` level of academic achievement and mathematical attitude. To achieve this, the following research questions, ``Does anchored instruction utilizing algorithm have effects on enhancing the level of academic achievement of elementary school students?`` and ``Does anchored instruction utilizing algorithm have effects on enhancing the elementary school students`` attitude toward learning mathematics?`` were established. In order to solve these research questions, the research was conducted in the following process. First, the meaning of macro-context real situational problem solving in mathematics class of elementary school was explored and the necessity of anchored instruction was discussed. Second, the Anchored Instruction model was derived by applying N. Landa``s algorithm from instructional design theory in order to help students`` cognitive process. Third, in specific, 8 themes from 2 units among the 5th grade``s 1st semester mathematics were selected to develop and apply Anchored Instruction. The subjects were 48 students of the 2 classes recognized as homogeneous groups in the pre-test of the level of academic achievement and mathematical attitude of 5th graders of ``D`` Elementary School located in Seoul. After conducting Anchored Instruction utilizing algorithms on the experimental group, and conducting the existing method of class on the control group, changes in the level of academic achievement and mathematical attitude of the two groups will be analyzed. Fourth, the trends of changes in the subordinate domains of the level of academic achievement and mathematical attitude will be analyzed through t-test and MANOVA.

With the recent increase in short-form videos, platforms that allow a user to upload his/her dance videos or watch others videos have become increasingly popular; however, direct participation is still limited. Hence, this study proposes an online random-play dance platform that allows participation from anywhere, anytime. A user accessing the proposed dance platform can stand in front of a mobile camera and dance to randomly selected music, whereby the platform detects the user’s body joints in real time and analyzes the dance motions to calculate their similarity with the reference dance motions of the randomly selected music. In real-time play, the front end sends the extracted joints to the server, and the platform offloads the front end by allowing the server to generate motion vectors to calculate the similarity. In addition, data caching was performed to enable the fast processing of rapidly changing data. As a result of fine-tuning a predefined gesture-similarity neural network, applying min–max normalization, and considering movements of only arms and legs (excluding the torso), motion-similarity error was reduced, thereby achieving better accuracy in computing dance-motion similarity.

랜덤 플레이 댄스 라는 오프라인 이벤트를 언제 어디서나 참여할 수 있도록 실시간 온라인 앱 서비스로 제시한다. 실시간 플레이를 위해 앱으로 사용자 영상에서 바로 스켈레톤을 추출하고 웹소켓으로 스켈레톤 데이터를 주고받으며 스켈레톤 추출, 시각화, 송출을 한다. 플레이가 끝나면 안무 동작 정확도 알고리즘을 통해 사용자가 자신의 춤 정확도를 가늠할 수 있다.
지역아동센터 이용 아동과 주 양육자의 지역사회 환경에 대한 인식이 아동의 신체활동에 미치는 영향

Purpose: The aim of this study was to identify the influence of children’s and caregivers’ perceptions of local neighborhood environments on children’s physical activities (PAs) and screen-based activities (SBAs) among low-income families. Methods: Secondary data analysis was performed using the data of 171 low-income children attending community child care centers and of their caregivers. Descriptive analysis, factor analysis and logistic regression analysis were employed to analyze data. Results: PAs were insufficient and SBAs were excessive in the majority of children. Children and primary caregivers had moderately negative perceptions of their local neighborhood environments. However these perceptions were not found to affect children’s PAs or SBAs significantly. Conclusion: Although perceptions of local neighborhoods were not found to significantly influence children’s PAs or SBAs, efforts are needed to make community child care centers and neighborhoods safer and more activity-friendly.
