Background: Hand eczema is a common skin disease in the general population. The etiology of hand eczema is obscure and many causative factors have been proposed. However, there are only a few reported studies of the relevance of contact allergy in hand eczema. Objective: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the diagnostic value of the patch test for patients with hand eczema. Methods: We analyzed the clinical characteristics and the results of the patch tests of the 37 patients with hand eczema and we then compared these with the clinical subtypes. Results: 26 patients (70.3%) showed a positive test to one or more allergens. The common allergens were nickel sulfate (35.1%), mercury ammonium chloride (21.6%), and cobalt chloride (18.9%). The positive rates for a patch test were 82.4% for the vesicular form, 77.8% for the fissured form, 20.0% for the hyperkeratotic form and 66.7% for pompholyx, respectively. We found more significant improvement of the clinical symptoms in the vesicular group (57.1%) than that in the non-vesicular group (9.3%) after avoiding the verified allergens. Conclusion: This study shows that the patch test is a useful tool for the detection of contact allergens and it must be performed for the patients with hand eczema, and especially for those patients with the vesicular type. Background: Lichen striatus is a well-known, acquired, self-healing, linear inflammatory dermatosis. The therapeutic approach that is usually adopted is topical steroid, even though the prolonged use of this may lead to several side-effects, and particularly cutaneous atrophy. Objective: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of topical calcineurin inhibitors for the treatment of lichen striatus. Methods: Twenty nine patients received topical application of calcineurin inhibitors twice a day up to the marked disappearance of the cutaneous lesions. Results: Six (20.7%) of 29 patients achieved a complete response after a mean treatment period of 2.5 months. A good response was observed in 8 patients (27.6%) and a partial response was seen in 8 patients (27.6%). Of the 29 patients, 22 patients (75.9%) had more than a 50% response without any severe adverse effects. No significant differences in the therapeutic responses were found with regard to the patients` ages, the duration of the disease and the length of the treatment periods. Conclusion: Our results show that topical calcineurin inhibitors may well represent a useful therapeutic alternative for the treatment of lichen striatus. (Korean J Dermatol 2009;47(10):1135∼1140)
공유형 자율차의 이동 경로 예측에 관한 기초연구: AI 분석 기반의 택시 경로와 도시 빅데이터를 이용하여

본 연구에서는 대구광역시를 대상으로 택시 DTG(Digital Tachograph) 데이터를 활용하여 공유형 자율주행차의 주행 형태가 택시와 유사하다는 대전제를 두고 공유형 자율주행차의 주요 이동 경로를 예측하기 위한 기초연구를 수행하였다. 택시 이용자의 승차지점부터 하차지점까지의 주행 경로가 기록된 DTG 데이터를 바탕으로 승차율 분석결과를 히트맵으로 시각화하였으며, 주행 경로를 통해 택시의 주요 이동 경로를 확인하였다. 승차율 분석결과 대구광역시 도심인 동성로, 부도심인 동대구역의 승차율이 높게 나타났으며 그다음으로 승차율이 높은 지역은 상업시설의 비중이 높은 지역으로 확인되었다. 분석결과 지하철 노선과 도시 내 주간선도로와 유사한 축으로 나타나는 경향을 확인하였으며 이를 통해 향후 간선도로와 보조 간선도로, 지하철 노선을 따라 공유형 자율주행차를 위한 인프라가 구축 될 수 있다는 시사점을 얻을 수 있었다. 또한 머신러닝 기법인 랜덤포레스트와 LightGBM를 활용한 회귀모형을 구축하여 택시 이동 경로 결정에 영향을 주는 인자를 분석하였다. 모형 추정결과 2개의 회귀모형 모두 적합성을 확보한 것으로 나타났으며, 지하철역까지의 거리, 간선도로, 유동인구 수, 카드매출 실적, 버스정류장까지의 거리가 주요 변수로 도출되었다. 장래 이와 같은 영향변수들의 변화를 고려하여 공유형 자율주행차의 주행과 관련된 필수 인프라를 전략적으로 배치하는 데 에 본 연구의 결과가 활용 될 수 있을 것으로 기대한다. This study analyzed the main travel routes of shared autonomous vehicles by using DTG(Digital Tachograph) data of Daegu Metropolitan City under the premise that the driving mode of the shared autonomous vehicle is similar to that of a taxi. Based on the taxi DTG data that recorded the driving route from the taxi user’s entry point to the exit point, the ride rate analysis result was visualized as a heat map. The main travel routes of taxi users were found through the driving route. As a result of the loading rate analysis, it was confirmed that the loading rate was high in Dongseong-ro, the downtown area of Daegu Metropolitan City, and the nearby area of Dongdaegu Station. The following high passenger rate region was analyzed as the region with a high proportion of commercial facilities. In the case of movement routes, it was confirmed that they appear mainly along the same axis as subway lines and major arterial roads in the city. And through this, it was possible to obtain the implication that the infrastructure for shared autonomous vehicles could be built along arterial roads, auxiliary arterial roads, and subway lines in the future. In addition, this study established a regression model using machine learning techniques such as Random forest and LightGBM to confirm the variables that affect the user’s choice to use a taxi. The distance to the subway station, the arterial road, the number of floating population, the card sales performance, and the distance to the bus stop were derived as the primary variables that affect the decision of the taxi route. As a result of model estimation, it was found that both regression models secured the fit. It is expected that the results of this study can be utilized to strategically arrange essential infrastructure related to the driving of shared autonomous vehicles in consideration of changes in these influencing variables.

Myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) is a heterogeneous group of stem cell disorders characterized by morphological abnormalities of the erythroid, granulocytic, and megakaryocytic cells. Cutaneous lesions associated with MDS are classified as either specific or non-specific. Specific leukemic infiltrates are often referred to as leukemia cutis, and non-specific inflammatory lesions, historically called leukemids, include cutaneous infections, vasculitis, and neutrophilic dermatoses. We report the case of a 53-year-old man who had been diagnosed with MDS 8 months ago when he developed multiple erythematous tender nodules on the trunk and upper extremities for 8 days. Histopathologic findings from an erythematous nodule on his chest showed lymphohistiocytic and neutrophilic infiltration in the septa and periphery of the fat lobules consistent with neutrophilic panniculitis. Most neutrophils observed in our case had the pseudo-Pelger-Huet anomaly. Herein we present a rare case of neutrophilic panniculitis associated with MDS showing specific groups and the pseudo-Pelger-Huet anomaly. (Korean J Dermatol 2015;53(9):722∼725)

Megalencephaly-capillary malformation syndrome is a disorder characterized by megalencephaly or hemimegalencephaly, focal or generalized somatic overgrowth, and vascular malformations. Other characteristic features are neonatal hypotonia, hydrocephalus, developmental delay, syndactyly/polydactyly, frontal bossing, and connective tissue dysplasia. Previously reported patients exhibit wide phenotypic variability in clinical and neuroradiological findings. Differential diagnosis may be challenging for clinicians due to other similar neurocutaneous syndromes. Herein, we report an 11-month-old male infant that presented with extensive, diffuse, reticulated, erythematous patches on his face, trunk, and extremities. Physical examination revealed an increased head circumference (>97 percentile), frontal bossing, hypertrophy of the right arm and leg, and syndactyly on both feet. Borderline developmental delay was identified, and magnetic resonance imaging of the brain revealed an enlarged right cerebral hemisphere and non-obstructive ventriculomegaly. To our knowledge, this is the first report of megalencephalycapillary malformation syndrome in Korean literature. (Korean J Dermatol 2015;53(7):546∼551)

Background: Periocular dermatitis (PD) is a common condition and can be classified as either allergic or non-allergic. Because the periocular region is one of the most sensitive areas of the skin, contact with any environmental or therapeutic allergen may give rise to dermatitis. Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the clinical usefulness of patch testing to determine sensitivity to contact allergens in PD patients. Methods: Patch testing was conducted in 29 PD patients using the T.R.U.E. testⓡ at Pusan National University Hospital. We examined the results of patch testing, the probable cause of PD, and the history of use of ophthalmic medication. Results: Contact hypersensitivity was detected using the T.R.U.E. testⓡ in 62.1% (18/29) of the patients, and contact hypersensitivity to specific ophthalmic medications was observed in 33.3% (3/9) of the patients with a history of using ophthalmic medication. Conclusion: We suggest that patch testing can be utilized to elucidate the relevant contact allergen in patients with PD. Patch testing with specific ophthalmic medications is valuable to determine allergic reactions in patients who have used ophthalmic medications. (Korean J Dermatol 2014;52(8):548∼553)

Background: An awareness of the prevalence and morphologic patterns of acral melanocytic nevi (AMN) is crucialin the diagnosis of AMN and for its differentiation from acral melanoma. Although studies regarding prevalence and dermoscopic patterns of AMN in other ethnic groups have been reported, studies in Korean populations are scarce. Objective: To investigate the prevalence, number and dermoscopic patterns of AMN cases in a Korean population. Methods: We investigated the prevalence and dermoscopic patterns of AMN in a Korean population. Results: Six hundred Korean patients were enrolled in this study. AMNs were observed on the hands in 53.2% of patients and on the feet in 30.5% of patients. The prevalence of AMN according to anatomical location was as follows: dorsum of hands (43.8%), palms (15.7%), both palms and dorsum of hands (6.3%), dorsum of feet (24.8%), soles (9.2%), and dorsa of feet and soles (3.5%). On volar skin, the common dermoscopic patterns were as follows: parallel-furrow (51.7%), lattice-like (12.1%), globular (9.2%), fibrillar (8.6%), reticular (7.5%), and homogeneous (5.7%). On dorsal skin, reticular (41.0%), homogeneous (27.0%), globular (21.6%), and reticular-homogeneous (7.7%) patterns were commonly observed. The prevalence of AMN increased with patient age until patients reached their forties and decreased according to age once patients reached their sixties. Conclusion: The results of our study show that AMN on hands and feet are common in Korean patients and that characteristic dermoscopic patterns of AMN exist. This study provides information regarding the prevalence and dermoscopic patterns of AMN in a Korean population. (Korean J Dermatol 2015;53(8):612∼616)
