Exploring the Mediating Effect of Conspicuous Consumption by Utilizing Mobile Phone Brands

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate the mediating effect of conspicuous brand usage between brand experience and brand loyalty in relational perspective, and to probe the difference between the positively experienced consumers and the negatives. Research design, data and methodology: Apple iPhone, Samsung Galaxy, and other brands were suggested as consideration set to be selected from 223 Amazon Mechanical Turk respondents, and they answered the structured survey of 33 questions made by Qualtrics with 5-point Likert scale. Structural Equations Model (SEM) was employed to test the hypothesized model, and RStudio and SPSS 18 were used to analyze the dataset. Results: It was confirmed that the more consumers have positive brand experience, the more they are loyal to brand. Conspicuous brand usage can be positively mediated, and consumers who experienced high conspicuous brand usage are more likely to be loyal to the brand. Conclusions: It is noteworthy to find the mediating effect of conspicuous brand usage, and the hidden mechanism between brand experience and brand loyalty. Managers can promote positive conspicuous brand usage when consumers get in touch with product and service channels. By providing impressive conspicuous brand experience, the brand loyalty of the band can be enhanced.
The Moderating Effects of Cobranding Promotions between Brand Experience and Loyalty

Purpose - This study was aimed to investigate the moderating effects of cobranding promotions that are rare in brand experience and brand loyalty studies, and to find out cobranding promotions can play a moderating role to enhance positive effects on the relationship between brand experience and brand loyalty, and to figure out the cobranding types which can lead to positive brand loyalty. Research design, data, and methodology - The conceptual research model was developed to explain the effects, and 2018 Interbrand’s global top 15 brands such as Apple, Google, Amazon, Samsung were suggested to be selected from 377 Amazon Mechanical Turk respondents to answer the 22 survey questions made by Qualtrics with 5-point Likert scale. Results - In this research, the moderating effects of cobranding have been confirmed on the relationships between brand experience and loyalty, and the positive cobranding promotions can have significant effects on the relationships, but only for the least experienced brand was significant. Regarding to cobranding types, there were no significant ones to enhance brand loyalty. Conclusions - The findings confirmed that cobranding promotion experience can play a positive moderating role to brand loyalty, and the loyalty can be maximized if companies can provide positive cobranding experiences to their own consumers.
손씻기 교육과 홍보 경험에 따른 대학생의 손씻기 태도와 수행도 비교연구

This study was attempted to compare and analyze college students' handwashing performance and attitude according to their handwashing education and promotion experience. The subjects of the study were 205 university students, and data were collected using a self-reported structured questionnaire. For data analysis, descriptive statistics and independent t-test were conducted using SPSS 22.0 program, and the results of the study are as follows. Both the handwashing performance and attitude according to the handwashing education of college students were statistically significantly higher in the subjects who received the education. As a result of analyzing the handwashing performance and attitude according to the handwashing promotion of college students, there was a statistically significant difference in the handwashing attitude, but the handwashing performance was not significant. Based on the results of this study, it is necessary to strengthen university students' handwashing education and promotion, and efforts to improve handwashing performance and attitude will be needed.
소비자-브랜드 관계와 브랜드 충성도에 관한 정성적 연구

Studies on brand loyalty have been classified into two approaches; the behavioral approach and the attitudinal approach. The main topics of both approaches have been customers' loyal or nonloyal attitude toward brands and the rate of repurchase generating process. However, previous research has overlooked dynamic and in-depth aspects of brand loyalty. With a qualitative research perspective, the present study adds insight to the current research on brand loyalty, concerning the disregarded aspects of brand, based on phenomenological interviews. On the foundation of consumer-brand relationship types suggested by Fournier(1998), this study examines various kinds of relationship types between Korean consumers and their preferred beer brands. Findings show different aspects and dynamic essence of brand loyalty through the analysis of these relationships. Moreover, a variety of sources of brand loyalty were identified. It was concluded that “actual” brand loyalty and “apparent” brand loyalty may not coincide at all times. In addition, consumers' life events and life themes were identified as important determinants of brand loyalty. 브랜드 충성도와 관련된 지금까지의 연구들은 크게 행동론적 접근법과 태도론적 접근법으로 양분되어, 브랜드에 대한 충성/비충성 여부와 재구매 발생가능성 등을 중심으로 이루어졌다. 그러나 이러한 연구들은 대부분 브랜드 충성도의 특정한 측면에만 초점을 맞추었기 때문에, 브랜드 충성도 현상의 다양하고 동태적인 특성을 심층적으로 분석하는 데에는 한계가 있었다. 본 연구에서는 정성적 연구 방법의 시각에서, 이들 연구에서 간과된 브랜드 충성도의 다양한 측면을 현상학적 면담(phenomenological interviewing)에 의해 수집된 자료를 통하여 검토하고자 하였다. 실증 연구에서는 Fournier(1998)가 제시한 소비자-브랜드 관계 유형을 기반으로 한국의 소비자들이 맥주 브랜드와 맺고 있는 다양한 관계의 유형들을 검토하였고, 이러한 소비자-브랜드 관계를 통해서 브랜드 충성도의 다양한 양상과 동태적인 본질들을 확인하였다. 연구 결과에 따르면, 소비자들의 브랜드 충성도의 원천이 서로 다른 다양한 요인들에 기반하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 외면적 브랜드 충성도는 실질적 브랜드 충성도와 일치하지 않을 수 있으며, 소비자의 라이프 이벤트와 라이프 테마가 브랜드 충성도와 깊이 관련되어 있다는 것을 확인하였다.
