In this study, a design process of robotic cell is presented. This paper focuses only on the automation of workpiece handling with robot. The presented design process enables us to analyze effectiv ely the original production system and to redesign it as an optimum production system with robots. An original production system is analyzed with respect to its economical and technological requirements for automation. If automation of the given production system is feasible, the conceptual design for automation is firstly derived. Next, the detail design is derived for the optimum conceptual design. Finally, an optimum system solution is determined after the economical and technical evaluation of all the derived detail designs. The all specifications of each element of the redesigned production system and its layout are determined at the detail design phase. This paper shows a low cost supporting tool for layout design of robotic cell with SCARA type robots.
Robot의 Off-Line 프로그래밍을 위한 Simulator 개발

On-line programming method has many weak points which are the risk of safety affairs, the complexibility of task, the reduction of production during robot programming and etc. Although off-line programming method using computer has weak points too, it is certainly at present the best alternative to on-line programming. The purpose of this study is to develop a pratical simulator for off-line programming of robot using PC. In this study a simulator, which can be used for simulation of robot work program and verification of program errors, is developed.

In the existing robot programming methods, off-line method because important role of programming because of improvement of hardware and softeare of PC. The purpose of this study is to develop practical robot programming system for polishing task using PC. In the first place, we have investigated the existing robot programming systems, and derived the requirement of this programming system from the existing systems. And we have decied the structure of this system. After that, we have developed this system. Using Windows software, this programming system has man/machine interface function. Therefore users can use easily and quickly.

The demand for robot is gradually increasing because of labour cost and bad working environment. In order to reduce economic risk of automation using robot, a software tool for design of robotic workcell is required. The object of this study is to develop a software tool for design of workcell layout. By this software a workcell layout can be created on a monitor interactively. The user of this software can compare quickly several layouts by cycle time and select an optimal one. The working sequence for the selected layout is simulated graphically.
