Objectives : The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of acupuncture treatment on the lunbar extensor muscle flexibility of normal people by comparing ICT(interferential current therapy) group. Methods : This study was carried out on 30 subjects employed using 15 qestionaires and radiography. Subjects were divided into two groups including acupuncture treatment group and ICT treatment group. In the control group, subjects were taken ICT treatment for 15 minutes and in the test group were needled at BL23, BL24, BL25, BL40, BL52 and BL60 for 15 minutes. Then subjects did the sit and reach test and the standing and reach test, right after treatment and after 10minutes. Results : 1. Compared to the before -treatment result of the sit and reach test and standing and reach test, the after-treatment result showed the improved flexibility. 2. The result gained from the test group is slightly larger than that of the control group. Conclusion : We brought to the conclusion that acupuncture treatment has possibility to increase flexibility of lumbar extensor muscle.

소자약침(蘇子藥鍼)의 천식억제(喘息抑制) 및 면역조절효과(免疫調節效果)에 대(對) 실험적(實驗的) 연구(硏究)

Objectives : The purpose of this study was to confirm the suppressive effect against asthma and immune regulatory effect of Perillae Fractusher Herbal-acupuncture at Chok-samni(ST36) on ovalbumin-induced asthma in mice. Methods : C57BL/6 mice were sensitized and challenged with OVA(ovalbumin) for 12 weeks. The mice in the PF-HA group were treated with PF-HA at ST36 for the later 8 weeks(3 times a weeks). The mice in the OVA-Needle-Prink(NP) group were treated with single prick with an injection needle at ST36 for the later 8 weeks(3 times a weeks). Results : 1. The lung weight of the mice treated with PF-HA at St36 were decreased significantly compared with that of the control group. 2. The total leukocytes and eosinophils in BALF of the group treated with PF-HA were decreased significantly compared with those of the control group. 3. Eosinophils in BALF and the collagen accumulation in lung of the mice treated with PF-HA were decreased significantly compared with those of the control group. 4. The Concentrations of IgE, IL-4 and IL-5 in BALF, and IL-4, IL-5 and IL-13 in serum of the PF-HA group were decreased significantly compared with those of the control group. 5. The numbers of CD3-/CCR3+, Gr-1+/CD11b+,CD4+, and CD3e+/CD69+cells in lung of the mice group treated with PF-HA at St36 were decreased significantly compared with those of the control group. 6. The mRNA expressions of TNF-${\alpha}$, IL-4, IL-5, IL-13 in lung of the mice group treated with PF-HA at St36 were decreased significantly compared with those of the control group.

특발성 구안와사로 입원한 환자에 대한 사상체질별 유형분석

Objectives : This study was conducted in order to analyze the admission patients of facial nerve paralysis by Sasang constitution. Methods : A clinical study was done on 61 admission patients who were diagnosed and treated as facial nerve paralysis (Bell's palsy) from September, 2005 to May 2006 at the Dept. of Acupuncture and Moxibution, Chung-ju Hospital, college of Daejeon Oriental Medicine. We classified 61 patients according to Sasang constitution by QSCCⅡ, attack side, sex, cause factor, concomitant symptom and Yanagihara's score at the admission and discharge, and analyzed the improvement of Yanagihara's score between Sasang constitution groups. Results : 1. By sex, the ratio of Taeumin was higher than that of Soyangin in female. 2. By attack side, there is no significant difference between constitution groups in concomitant symptoms and cause factors. 3. By improvement of Yanagihara's scores between admission and discharge, the improvement score in Soyangin was a little bit higher than that in Soeumin, but there is no significant difference. Conclusion : The results suggest that there is no significant difference in all aspects except sex in Sasang constitution. But it is considered that we need to keep on studying afterwards because we had limits in getting enough patients.

Objectives : This study is desinged in order to evaluate oriental medical treatment of deveation of the eye and mouth caused trauma. Methods : The authors observed patient by Yanagihara’s unweighted grading system for operated acupuncture treatment, herbal medicine treatment and physiotherapy. Conclusion : 1. Deveation of the eye and mouth is caused by trauma ; intra cranial traume, intra temporal bone trauma, extra temporal bone trauma, etc. Cardinal symptom is palsy of Facial muscle, slobbering, articulation disorder, epiphora, ear pain, hyperacusis, laterality hypogeusia. 2. Deveation of the eye and mouth patient by Lt. temporal bone Fx. is seen evaluate of Yanagihara`s total score ; from 5 to 35. 3. Deveation of the eye and mouth patient by facial nerve inhury is seen evaluate of Yanagihara`s total score ; from 10 to 30. 4. Traumatic Deveation of the eye and mouth patient evaluate by oriental medical treatmend ; acupuncture treatment, herbal medicine treatment and physiotherapy. This is based on sil(實) of stomach channel of foot yangming & larhe intestine channel of hand yangming.

Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis(ALS) is Motor Neuron Disease(MND) that reveals muscle relaxation, bulbar palsy, extremities weakness, Pneumonia, in severe case, leads to death. Objectives : Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis is one of the incurable disease. In Oriental medicine, Wei symptom is similar as Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, so we diagnosed it as Wei symptom and treated in Oriental medical system. Methods : The patient was treated by acupunture, moxibustion, herb medication, physical treatment. The improvement of the patient was judged by Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Functional Rating Scale (ALSFRS), Grasping power on right arm, circumference of thigh and calf. Result : The patient had better condition for a while but the sputum irritated breathing and the day before he discharged vital sign was not stable and could not breath well. Conclusion : It is necessary to have more examination about the incurable syndromes such as Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, and keep the patient's life better and expand their lives.
