The research on surface modification technology has been advanced to improve the properties of engineering materials. Ion implantation is a novel surface modification technology to enhance the mechanical, chemical and electrical properties of substrate’s surface using accelerated ions. In this research, nitrogen ions were implanted into aluminum substrates which would be used for mold of rubber materials. The composition of nitrogen ion implanted aluminum alloy and nitrogen ion distribution profile were analyzed by Auger Electron Spectroscopy (AES). To analyze the modified surface, properties such as hardness, friction coefficient, wear resistance, contact angle, and surface roughness were measured. Hardness of ion implanted specimens was higher than that of untreated specimens. Friction coefficient was reduced, and wear resistance was improved. From the experimental results, it can be expected that ion implantation of nitrogen enhances the surface properties of aluminum mold.
한국 철도역사 건축디자인 개선을 위한 해외 지침 사례연구

본 연구는 한국 철도역사 건축디자인 개선을 위한 해외 철도역사 건축디자인 지침의 사례연구로 미국과 영국의 디자인지침을 중심으로 한국의 설계기준과 비교 분석하는 것을 목표로 한다. 미국 암트랙의 철도역 프로그램과 계획 가이드라인(2013)과 영국 네트워크 레일의 철도역 설계 원칙(2015)을 사례분석의 대상으로 삼고 한국철도시설공단의 철도설계지침 및 편람과 비교하여 그 차이와 시사점을 도출하였다. 해외 디자인 지침은 현대 철도건축의 지닌 도시 건축적 중요성과 기술의 발전에 맞추어 디자인의 질적 향상을 위한 가이드라인을 제시하고 있으며 그 내용을 한국 설계기준과 비교하였다. 그 결과, 한국 철도건축설계기준 개선을 위하여 통합적 디자인 원칙 마련이 요구되고, 이용수요 중심의 철도건축유형 재정립, 그리고 철도건축설계 프로세스의 지침화가 필요하다. This is a case study of overseas railway station design guidelines for the improvement of Korean railway design and focused on the US (Amtrak’s Station Program and Planning Guideline, 2013) and UK (Network Rail’s Station Design Principles, 2015) railway design guidelines. This study is aim to compare these two guideline with Korean design guideline and to find the differences and potential values. Both of two guidelines have indicated design principles for the design improvement which is adapted to the current urban architectural importance of railway station and the advanced technologies. As a result, for the improvement of design quality of Korean railway station, the Korean design guidelines need to set up integrated design principles, to re-categorize the building types based on the user-demand and to designate the design process in the design guideline.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the architectural planning for Korean railway station as a tourist destination. To begin with defining the concept of the station as a tourist destination, the study has developed the perspectives for establishing the framework for analyzing Jeonju station which was used as a typical station with a famous tourist spot. The concept of the station as a tourist destination could be defined that the station which has a strong spatial characteristics of ’Stay’ for tourists. Through analyzing the literature and case studies, the research could find the perspectives, which are architectural form, programme, inter modality and connection with the city, for the architectural planning for railway station as a tourist destination. With these studies, the research could make a conclusion that it is worthy of establishing the typology of railway station as a tourist destination. It could be the way of enhance the architectural characteristics of railway station and relationship between the station and the city.

The fuel cell is one of the promising environment-friendly energy sources for the next generation. The fuel cell provides good energy efficiency above 40% without pollution or noise. Different fuel cell types are usually distinguished by the kind of electrolyte. Among these, the proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) has advantages of high power density. low operating temperature, relatively quick start-up, and rapid response to varying loads. The bipolar plate is a major component of the PEM fuel cell stack, and it takes a large portion of stack volume, weight and cost. In this study, as alternative materials for bipolar plate of PEM fuel cells, graphite composites were fabricated by compression molding and by machining. Graphite particles mixed with epoxy resin were used as the main substance to provide electric conductivity. Flow channels were fabricated by compression molding with design of experiments (DOE) to evaluate moldability. The cost for compression molding of graphite-composite bipolar plate was compared with machining cost to make the same bipolar plate.

This study focused on the characteristic analysis on the driving landscape of Pakdaljaegil. Especially, the study has a concern about the relation between the visual preference and dynamic vision amount change rate. As a type of sequence landscape, the driving landscape can be defined as a continuous and accumulated memory by car driving. By reviewing former related researches, the study had established the frame work for analyzing the driving landscape of Pakdaljaegil. The basic methods the study suggested are using animation and the concept of dynamic vision amount change rate. Then, by using the real movie animation the study could collect the preference rate for every 10 second time frame. And by using Mesh analysis, the vision amount and its change rate were calculated for each time frame. With the SPSS analysis tool, the study had a result of the relation only between the preference and vision amount of distance views. However, the study could get a result of the characteristics of driving landscape of Pakdaljaegil. It could be characterized as a surrounded landscape type by trees near by the road. and also, the study could carefully suggest the possibilities the relationship between the preference and other elements of dynamic vision amount change rate.
