This research is aimed at investigating torsional properties of two-ply wool yarn after waxing and heat setting. The properties of yarn in weft knitted fabrics influence post-processes such as knitting, dyeing, and finishing. Therefore, pre-treatments of the knitting yarn are required to exclude negative factors in these processes. In this paper two treatments were studied; one was waxing carried out to reduce friction in the knitting process, and the other was heat setting carried out to reduce residual torque. Torque, snarling tendency, and coefficient of friction were analyzed to investigate the effects of waxing, heat setting, or waxing after heat setting. Torque and coefficients of friction decrease and snarling is not significantly changed after waxing. Also, snarling of yarns decreases apparently on heat setting.

The effect of yarn count and twist multiplier on the dimensional stability and handle of weft knit fabric has been studied by comparing data acquired under the dry, wet and fully relaxed state. The sample weft knit fabrics have been prepared at two different levels of yarn feeding length using 10 kinds of cotton yarns with 2 different yarn counts of Ne50, 60 and 5 different levels of twist multiplier. Thus ten different kinds of cotton yarn have been used. The weft knit fabric samples have been made using the same knitting machine under the same driving condition except the yarn feeding length. And the studies were analysed statistically using the multiple regression equations of SAS package and the following regression results were obtained. (1) The relationship between twist multiplier and relaxations was; Ks=8.44+3.54TM in dry relaxed, Ks=4.l1+6.l1TM in wet relaxed, and Ks=4.82+5.9TM in fully relaxed state. (2) The relationship among twist multiplier, yarn number and spirality was; spirality=-65.68+9.63TM+0.97Ne in dry relaxed, spirality=-94.38+12.13TM+1.35Ne in wet relaxed, spirality=-89.6+12.69TM+l.15Ne in fully relaxed state. Where Ks, TM, Ne are abbreviations of relaxation constant, twist multiplier, yarn count.
Sinker-pile 경편성물의 편환장 추정 이론화에 관한 연구

A theoretical formula based on a newly established knit unit model of three dimensional structure has been derived in order to predict the stitch length of a sinker pile warp knit fabric. In this formula. stitch length of the fabric is expressed as the functions of wale and course spacing, yarn diameter and pile height which are usually used in the knitting mills for production and quality control. And the possibility of the modification of the existing formulas, proposed for ordinary warp knit fabrics was also discussed. Comparison of the existing theoretical values with the experimental ones revealed that the most satisfactory results were obtained from the new modified derived theoretical formula.

A fuzzy application method approach is described using the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation matrix and weighted factor vector to predict hand. On this study, we analyzed and reformed the fuzzy relation (R) for objective evaluation of summer polyester fabric hand in Korea, and surveyed the percentage of importance about the mecahnical and physical characteristics by panels (N=30) The conjunction of A and R bring forth multifactorial equations that can be used to calculated polyester fabric hand for summer.

This research carried out the comprehensive evaluation of double weft-knitted fabrics using the mathematical approach which is the product of the selected main mechanical characteristics and weighted factor vector(A). In this study, each mechanical characteristics which are resulted from the expecting 6 deformations of double knitted fabrics transformed into the meaningful value of hand scale by fuzzy transformation matrix(R). And another indispensible element is the weighted factor vector, which was deduced from a survey of panels of judges (N=30). The conclusions of this study give not only a similar tendency with KES-FB system, but also a reliable hand evaluation in industry, research and marketing.

On the basis of Interlock, the application of bit, tuck and welt(interlock, royal interlock, mock royal interlock) was made by varying the density of the double hit fabrics and the mechanical properties of these fully relaxed fabrics were measured using KES-FB System. The analysis was carried out on several major characteristics in connection with density and such structures as loop configurations. The results were given as follows; 1. Interlock and Mock royal interlock stitches showed similar tendencies in bending, shear and tensile properties with the increase of MTF(Machine Tightness Factor). 2. Royal interlock gave relatively high values of bending rigidity and shear stiffless and big geometrical roughness in the direction of course. 3. The total hand value of double bitted fabrics was mainly affected by Stiffness rather than Smoothness, Sofuless and Fullness, and so the increase of MTF made the higher values of THV.
니트셔츠 봉제공정의 생산성 향상을 위한 라인 균형화의 적용에 관한 연구

A new parameter, unbalanced time was introduced to Jackson's enumeration method for line balancing of flow process system and this new method was applied to the line balance of sewing process in determination of working conditions, such as cycle time, number of work station and efficiency of formation. It has been found that the line balancing of the sewing process of knit shirts, based on this new method results not only in the improvement of productivity and efficiency of formation but also the reduction of man power requirement, revealing that this new method provides a powerful tool for line balancing of flow process, particularly, for sewing process, comprised of relatively simple elemental works.
