3D-PTV measurement has been carried out for the inner flows of a refrigerator. To visualize the air flows three-dimensionally, a helium bubble generator has been used for the 3D-PTV measurements. Three-dimensional flow field of the refrigerator's compartments have been reconstructed by the results obtained by the 3D-PTV. Measurements on the electric power-consumption was also carried out in order to evaluate the improvements of the flow characteristics. It was verified that 3% of power consumption was saved by improving the flow passages and characteristics.

A Multi-Sectional 3D-PTV algorithm was developed to reduce the calculation time of the conventional GA-3D-PTV. The hardware system of the constructed 3D-PTVsystem consists of two high-speed cameras(1,024×1,018pixels, 60fps), a metal halogen lamp (400W) and a host computer. The sphere(30mm) is suspended in a circulating water channel(300mm×300mm×1,200mm) and Reynolds number is 1,130. About 5,000 instantaneous three-dimensional velocity vectors have been obtained by the constructed 3D-PTV system. Turbulent properties such as turbulent intensity, Reynolds stress and turbulent kinetic energy were obtained. An eigenvalue analysis was carried out using the obtained instantaneous 3D velocity vectors to get the topological relations of the asymptotically stable critical point. Two structured shells, inner shell and outer shell, were found in the sphere wake and their motions were clarified by the measured data.

Four perylene-based dyes containing methoxy groups were synthesized for be used as colorants of liquid crystal display (LCD) color filters. The synthesized dyes each have 0, 2, or 4 methoxy groups at bay- and terminal- positions. The fluorescence of synthesized dyes decreased as the number of methoxy groups increased. Dye-based color filters were fabricated using the synthesized dyes in low color content concentration to minimize the effect of the aggregation. The minimum brightness of the fabricated color filters also decreased with the increasing number of methoxy groups. In conclusion, the minimum brightness can be increased by the fluorescence of the dye, however, the dyes showing strong fluorescence are not acceptable for use as colorants in high-contrast LCD color filters.
부산지역 국민학교 학생들의 신체 발육과 비만 실태와 관한 조사

부산 지역 국민학교와 사립국민학교 학생들의 신체 발육 상태와 비만아의 실태를 비교 파악하기 위하여 부산 지역 국민학교 학생 1,875명을 조사 대상으로 하여 국민학교 1학년부터 6학년까지의 신체 발육 상태를 정년적으로 조사하여 얻은 결과를 요약하였다. The author studied the status of physical development and obesity in 1,875 primary school children in Busan area, and followed up it's changes from their first grade to sixth grade in order to compare the differences between private school and general school children. The summarized results were as follows: 1.The value of physical development showed increasing tendency with school age and private school children had higher value than standard children group. 2.Ro¨hrer index shewed decreasing tendency with school age. 3.The rate of obese children based on Ro¨hrer index was 1.50% in male and 1.56% in female of standard children group, and 2.86% in male and 2.72% in female of primate school children.

A panoramic-PIV system has been constructed for the analysis of the airflows in a room. Smoke is used as seeding particles and are visualized by a pulsed laser(Nd-Yag, 120mJ). Panoramic images have been obtained by an image composition process using the two images obtained by the two cameras(1k×1k) that are viewing the wide measurement areas. Velocity vector fields have been obtained by the grey-level cross-correlation PIV method. Three room models(L×W×H[mm3], 500×500×250, 350×350×175, 250×250×125) have been tested. The experimental results have proven that the constructed panoramic-PIV system can be used as a useful tool for analyzing the airflow characteristics in the room models.
