        Anti-nociceptive and Anti-inflammatory Properties of Ilex latifolia and its Active Component, 3,5-Di-caffeoyl Quinic Acid Methyl Ester

        The present study was conducted to investigate anti-nociceptive and anti-inflammatory effects of the leaves of Ilex latifolia Thunb (I. latifolia) in in vivo and in vitro. Writhing responses induced by acetic acid and formalin- and thermal stimuli (tail flick and hot plate tests)-induced pain responses for nociception were evaluated in mice. I. latifolia (50 - 200 mg/kg, p.o.) and ibuprofen (100 mg/kg, p.o.), a positive non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), inhibited the acetic acid-induced writhing response and the second phase response (peripheral inflammatory response) in the formalin test, but did not protect against thermal nociception and the first phase response (central response) in the formalin test. These results show that I. latifolia has a significant anti-nociceptive effect that appears to be peripheral, but not central. Additionally, I. latifolia (50 and 100 mg/mL) and 3,5-di-caffeoyl quinic acid methyl ester (5 mM) isolated from I. latifolia as an active compound significantly inhibited LPS-induced NO production and mRNA expression of the pro-inflammatory mediators, iNOS and COX-2, and the pro-inflammatory cytokines, IL-6 and IL-1b, in RAW 264.7 macrophages. These results suggest that I. latifolia can produce antinociceptive effects peripherally, but not centrally, via anti-inflammatory activity and supports a possible use of I. latifolia to treat pain and inflammation.

        연부조직가동술, 수동신장운동과 근에너지 기법이 넙다리뒤근육의 근두께와 근 긴장도에 미치는 영향

        This study aimed to identify alterations in the thickness of the hamstring and the muscle tone in response to soft tissue mobilization (STM), passive stretching (PS), and muscle energy technique (MET). Forty-five male subjects with no orthopedic or neurological diseases volunteered to participate in the study, which were allocated either the SEM, PS, or MET groups, 10 in each. Outcome measure included the thickness and muscle tone of the hamstring. Intervention was an isometric contraction and 10-sec stretching for the STM group, a 10 repetitions of 10-sec stretch for the PS group, and an isometric contraction and relaxation for the MET group. Pre- and post-treatment changes in the thickness and muscle tone of hamstring were significantly different for the three groups (p<.05). However, there were not found statistically significant differences in the thickness and muscle tone of hamstring between the groups (p>.05). This study suggests that all tree methods may be helpful to increase the condition of hamstring. Further studies with robust design will be needed for the generality of our results.

        Lactobacillus helveticus HY7801 ameliorates bacterial vaginosis by inhibiting biofilm formation and epithelial cell adhesion of Gardnerella vaginalis

        Bacterial vaginosis (BV) is caused by a microbial imbalance in the vaginal ecosystem, which causes genital discomfort and a variety of potential complications in women. This study validated the potential of Lactobacillus helveticus HY7801 as a probiotic to benefit vaginal health. In vivo, HY7801 reduced the number of Gardnerella vaginalis (GV) and pro-inflammatory cytokines in the vagina of GV-induced BV mice and ameliorated vaginal histological changes. In vitro, HY7801 exhibited positive resistance to simulated gastrointestinal conditions, showed excellent adherence ability to the female genital epithelium, and had high lactic acid and H2O2 production capacity. Furthermore, it was found that HY7801 can alleviate BV because it can suppress the expression of virulence factor genes of GV involved in epithelial cell adhesion and biofilm formation along with antibacterial activity against GV. These results indicate that HY7801 can be used as a promising probiotic strain for the maintenance of a healthy vaginal physiological state.

        전자석 액추에이터를 통한 촉각 디스플레이 구현

        Assistive technologies for people with disabilities are often marginalized in the Fourth Industrial Revolution. In this paper, we intend to present the possibility of acquiring tactile information through the tactile display adapting an electromagnetic actuator. The multi-layered display designed for tactile communication has innovatively narrowed the size and spacing of cells in order to express pictures, maps, and graphics. This display has enabled the visually impaired to touch two-dimensional information combining with other assistive technologies so that. It would also provide a technical source of access to STEM education (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) so that students will perform better and be better prepared for advanced education. Moreover, it can be applied to public infrastructure and transportation in smart-city projects on the globe. Hence, this paper introduces the principle of Electromagnetic-actuator and how it can be utilized in many diverse areas. 4차 산업혁명에 의한 급변하는 기술 발전 과정에서 정보취약계층을 위한 보조공학기술은 종종 간과되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 차세대 보조공학기술로써 전자석 액추에이터를 적용한 촉각 디스플레이를 소개하고자 한다. 다중배열 구조의 촉각 디스플레이는 셀의 크기와 간격을 좁혀 직선과 곡선을 통해 그림, 지도, 그래픽 등을 출력한다. 이는 시각장애인들이 촉각으로 2차원 정보를 확인 할 수 있게 만들고, 기존 정보통신 기술(ICT)와 융합하여 더 많은 정보를 제공한다. STEM교육(과학, 기술, 공학, 수학)에 접근할 수 있는 교육환경을 제공할 뿐만 아니라 대중교통, 공공인프라 등 스마트시티의 다양한 분야에까지도 적용될 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 전자석 액추에이터의 연구 및 제작과정을 설명하고, 그적용 사례를 중심으로 해당 기술이 함의하는 사회, 경제적 가치와 가능성에 대해 살펴보고자 한다.

        첨가제 없이 제작된 나노구조 코발트 산화물 리튬이온 배터리 전극의 전기 화학적 특성

        Transition metal oxide materials have attracted widespread attention as Li-ion battery electrode materials owing to their high theoretical capacity and good Li storage capability, in addition to various nanostructured materials. Here, we fabricated a CoO Li-ion battery in which Co nanoparticles (NPs) are deposited into a current collector through electrophoretic deposition (EPD) without binding and conductive agents, enabling us to focus on the intrinsic electrochemical properties of CoO during the conversion reaction. Through optimized Co NP synthesis and electrophoretic deposition (EPD), CoO Li-ion battery with 630 mAh/g was fabricated with high cycle stability, which can potentially be used as a test platform for a fundamental understanding of conversion reaction.

      • 2P-424 High Capacity Li-ion Battery through Oxidation of Cobalt Nanoparticles

        전기 자동차나 ESS(Energy storage systems)와 같이 대용량의 에너지를 필요로 하는 곳이 늘어나면서 리튬이온 배터리의 용량을 늘리기 위한 많은 연구가 진행되고 있다. 그중 높은 이론 용량(715~890mAh/g)을 가지는 Cobalt Oxide를 Anode로 활용하기 위해 Cobalt nanoparticle(Co NP)를 합성 하여 리튬이온 배터리를 재작하였다. Co NP의 입자크기를 제어하고 200°C에서 Cobalt Oxide의 산화시간을 결정하였다. 이로 인해 CoO, Co<sub>3</sub>O<sub>4</sub>, CoO·Co<sub>3</sub>O<sub>4</sub>상을 형성하여 리튬이온 배터리에 적용 하였다. Cobalt Oxide의 상에 따라 배터리 내부에 어떤 영향이 있을지 조사하기 위하여 바인더나 도전재가 첨가되지 않는 증착방법인 Electrophoretic Deposition(EPD)를 사용하여 anode를 재작하여 배터리 측정을 진행하였다.

        공직사회 유연근무제 활용 만족도의 선행요인과 결과요인에 관한 연구: 조직문화와 조직효과성 관련 요인 및 삶의 질을 중심으로

        The purpose of this study is to demonstrate the antecedent and consequential factors of satisfaction with the flexible working system. Organizational culture was examined as an antecedent factor, while job satisfaction, work performance, organizational commitment, turnover intention, and quality of life were examined as outcome factors. The data of 2,785 public officials who used the flexible work system in the Korea Institute of Public Administration (2022) data set were analyzed using SPSS 28.0. and PROCESS macro's Model 4. The main research findings are as follows. First, organizational cultures that respect individuality and cooperation, supports management, and aims for work autonomy all positively and significantly affect satisfaction with the flexible working system. When ranking the size of influence by the type of organizational culture, work autonomy, respect for individuality, and a cooperative organizational culture had a positive impact in that order, with work autonomy being the most influential factor. In addition, the public officials' age, job preparation period, self-evaluation of workload, and overtime working hours are significant antecedents of satisfaction with the flexible work system. Second, when examining consequential factors, a high level of satisfaction with the flexible working system affects job satisfaction (+), work performance (+), organizational commitment (+), turnover intention (-), and quality of life (+). Job satisfaction was an especially valid mediator between satisfaction with the flexible working system and other consequential factors, including work performance, organizational commitment, turnover intention, and quality of life.
