      • 漢子語 誤用發音 問題 (Ⅲ-2) : 放送聽取를 바탕으로 BASED ON MONITORING

禹寅燮 서경대학교 1982 論文集 Vol.10 No.-

Even middle school graduates do not hesitate to point out the misuse of accent and intonation by others especially as far as English is concerned. When it comes to our Ianguage, however, they are too indifferent to its pronunciation, to our great regret. The writer presented an article entitled "problems of the pronunciation of Chinese Characters" in Vol. 5 of the journal of korean Language Education" in 1963 and evolved it in Vol. 17 of the same journal in 1971. This paper deals with a total of 4,452 words written in Chinese characters as stated in the accompanying sheet, which shows that the first syllables, ㄱ, ㅅ and ㅈ, account for the great portion of the whole. As for their pronunciation, the pronunciationo f prolonged sounds into single ones is much more frequent than that of single sounds into prolonged ones, showing a ratio of 3:2. It is urgently demanded, therefore, that the mispronunciation of words written in chine secharacters be rectified at the earliest possible data by analyzing and considering it in a systematic manner. This should be preceded by the promotion of respect for our mother tongue and by the education of those engaged in broadcasting, including students, in pronunciation of basic Chinese characters.

      • 現代 韓國語의 誤用表現과 類型別 意識構造에 關한 硏究 : 國語醇化方案의 一環으로 As a series of measures for the purification of national language

禹寅燮 서경대학교 1978 論文集 Vol.6 No.-

Ⅰ It has been a long time since the writer began to make a research on the misused expression of our language with special concern. Although seemingly different according to their titles, all the contributions by the writer in many years(1. "Problems in the Education of Chinese Character-Pronunciation Ⅰ", Education of Korean Language No. 5, July 1, 1963. 2. The same title Ⅱ, the same journal No. 17, October 30, 1971. 3. "Study of Misused Expression Ⅰ," the same journal No. 18-20, December 25, 1972. 4. The same title Ⅱ, the same journal No. 21, June 30, 1973. 5. "An Analytical Study of Misused Expressions in Daily Life," Collection of Papers Vol. 3, Kookjae College press, April 30, 1975. 6. "Assimilation Phenomena of Sound and Harderning Emotion," Korean Language and Literature No. 12, July 30 1976.) are concerned with the misused expressions. The writer mainly collected and sortedout the 'revealed facts' which reflect mistakes in usage, and further slightly added some desirables corrections which should be made. The writer intended to present the unexpectedly many misused expressions which should be improved on and wanted to put those expressions on record. Ⅱ The title of this paper 'A Study on Classificatory Consciousness-formation' is a task to direct the basic 'inner thinking' correctly rather than simply to present the right use of words in terms of techniques of expression. Questions such as 'why those misuses are expressed in those manner?', 'Based on what thought?' 'what makes people to think so?' and so forth could be useful means to draw a conclusion that the misused expressions are due to the mistakes of the way of thinking which underlies them. Ⅲ The subject of this study (misused expressions in question) is comperishing a total of 269 items. Among them 70 are ex-tracted again form the items which handled before in order to the new examples. All those are written in consecutive numbers for conveniences sake. But the pattern of misused expressions in modern Korean language in the light of consciousness-formation structure can be divided into the following 12 patterns. *patterns of Consciousness-Formation 1. Fallacy in language concept : Taegeuk-ki(Korean National Flag), is apt to be used as a meaning of a national flag for example. Australian Teageukki. 2. Language custom (wrong convention) : Sobok(mourning clothes, So (素)means white) is used as a word for funeral or rite regardless of the color itself. 3. Lack of respect to mother tongue : Yeopjon(Koren old coin) is used as a word meaning the Korean people, which reflects self-contempt. 4. The remaining evil of convention in the Japanese rule : An expression of 'in bound' and 'out bound', for example, entering into Japan or coming out of Japan. 5. Habit of excessive modesty : Jeohi(modest form of 'our') Nara (country) instead of Uri Nara (our country). 6. Misconception of the Chinese Character (poor knowledge) : For example, out-going passengers to 入口(entrance) instead of 出口(exit). 7. Misconception and abuses of foreign language : In case of ordering coffee in the morning, morning is usually interpreted as an egg. 8. Mistakes from the repetition of words which have the same meaning (when using Chinese Character together with Korean equivalents) : For example, Yeokjon Ap (station-front, jon means front in Chinese and Ap means front in Korean). 9. Harsh reality and assimilation of sounds : e.g. gasi chulmang (barbed wire) to ggasi chulmang. 10. Extreme situation (exggeration) : For instance, 'absolutely,' 'I'll kill you.' etc. 11. Strange type of modest form : Mianhago sipeoyo. (I should like to be excused.) …confusion of adjective with verb. 12. Queer reduction of pronunciation : guman duo to gan duo (No more of that!) Ⅳ In fact, the patterns can not be limited to 12 items and could be divided into the more detailed parts. But generally speaking, it can be said that all causes are due to the lack of respect to the mother tongue. Especially, patterns 4 and 5 mentioned above can be said to be just the oblivion of national subjectivity. Cosequently, same as it always is, the conclusion is that the elevation of national spirit through the consistent education will be the right way and the short-cut. In addition, as the A-un-gak-bi (by Chung Yak-yong) 160 years ago(1819) is a valuable material to us today, the writer hopes that this rather rough record will form a frame of reference in the future.

      • 日常語 誤用表現의 分析的 硏究

禹寅燮 서경대학교 사회과학연구소 1975 論文集 Vol.3 No.-

It may safely be said that our daily life involves the interchange of 'worlds'. Our daily life is the repetition of patterns of thinking, speaking and behavior. Good behavior can be expected when thought is conveyed properly by the correct usage of language. Therefore, it may be considered that thinking, speaking, and behavior interact coincidentally(not separately but with the same importance). In this regard, speech plays an important role in adjusting both thinking and behavior, and behavior, and acts as a go-between for the two parts. In order to communicate properly, word choice is of utmost importance. Thus, the misuse of words may not only cause difficulties in thought and behavior, but also may result in social confusion. The aim of this study is to make a diagnosis for the preparation of epoch-making corrections through a survey of the degree of misused expressions in daily life. In examining examples of misused expressions, which were collected during of September 13. 1972…… Nowember 10, 1972 an emphasis was put on the following items: 1. Misunderstanding of meaning of words (phrases) 2. Confusion of diction 3. Abuse of foreign language 4. Deficiency in the direct translation of foreign language 5. Ignorance of the standard language 6. Mistakes (carelessness) in pronunciation 7. Misuse (overproduction) of coined words, etc. Conseqently, the followings are demanded again: 1. Speak after thinking a little more. 2. Recognize the characteristics of foreign language but don't mingle them randomly with Korean. 3. Importance of the standard language. In conjunction with formal, domestic, and social education (cooperation with broadcasting networks and the news medias), Standard Korean will be enhanced and more clearly delineated after linguistic purification. When the importance of proper speech has been reestablished as asymbol of gentlemanship, the level of a unique cultural tradition will be heightened.

Phase behaviors of the blends of bisphenol A polycarbonate (PC), copolyesters (TR) of 1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol (CHDM), and 2,2,4,4-tetramethyl-1,3-cyclobutanediol (CBDO) with terephthalic acid were investigated through dynamic mechanical analysis, differential scanning calorimetry, and scanning electron microscopy. When the blends were prepared using an internal mixer at low shear condition, TR-1 with a CBDO content of 27 mol% exhibited miscibility with the PC in the melt-mixed state, whereas TR-2, with a CBDO content of 38 mol% did not. However, a 50/50 PC/TR-2 blend prepared using a twinscrew extruder subjected to high shear rates formed a single phase. Its morphology became a modulated structure and returned to the homogeneous phase during thermal annealing at the melt-mixing temperature. This morphological change is likely owing to shear-induced mixing and ester-carbonate intermolecular exchange during annealing, although no new peaks caused by the exchange reaction were observed in the 1H-NMR spectrum. The effect of CBDO content on the miscibility of PC/TR blends were interpreted in through a binary interaction model. The blends prepared in this study exhibited a transparency close to 90%, a refractive index ranging between 1.550 and 1.586, Tg in the range of 110 to 145 °C and a positive birefringence in its stretched state. The PC/TR blends prepared in this study are expected to be used as matrices for PEN fiber-impregnated reflective polarizing sheets or retardation films.
