Self-Organized Process for Patterning of a Thin-Film Transistor
Byoung-Kwon Choo,Jin Jang,Gun Jeong Kim,Jung-Su Choi,Kyu-Chang Park 한국물리학회 2006 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.48 No.6
We studied the self-organized patterning of an insulator by using micro-contact printing (μ-CP) with an OTS (octadecyltrichlorosilane)-treated PDMS (polydimethylsiloxane) soft mold. An OTS monolayer on the patterned PDMS was formed by dipping it into an OTS solution. We transferred the OTS monolayer from the PDMS mold to a Cr layer on glass. The OTS monolayer changed the surface from hydrophilic to hydrophobic. We made self-organized PVP (cross-linked poly-4- vinylphenol) patterns by spin-coating of PVP. The PVP can be coated on the hydrophilic surface of Cr, but not on the OTS-treated Cr. Thus, we could get organic patterns without photolithography rapidly, and we could use organic patterns as etch barriers at a low cost. Using the surface energy difference and a self-organized process, we could make a 12-μm-wide organic line pattern easily. Our self-organized process can be used as a patterning method for organic insulators and semiconductors in organic TFTs (thin-film transistors) and as an etch barrier for sub-layer etching in non-organic device fabrication.no=8A
Differential Signaling and Virus Production in Calu-3 Cells and Vero Cells upon SARS-CoV-2 Infection

Severe acute respiratory syndrome CoV-2 (SARS-CoV-2) is responsible for the current coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. Signaling pathways that are essential for virus production have potential as therapeutic targets against COVID-19. In this study, we investigated cellular responses in two cell lines, Vero and Calu-3, upon SARS-CoV-2 infection and evaluated the effects of pathway-specific inhibitors on virus production. SARS-CoV-2 infection induced dephosphorylation of STAT1 and STAT3, high virus production, and apoptosis in Vero cells. However, in Calu-3 cells, SARS-CoV-2 infection induced long-lasting phosphorylation of STAT1 and STAT3, low virus production, and no prominent apoptosis. Inhibitors that target STAT3 phosphorylation and dimerization reduced SARS-CoV-2 production in Calu-3 cells, but not in Vero cells. These results suggest a necessity to evaluate cellular consequences upon SARS-CoV-2 infection using various model cell lines to find out more appropriate cells recapitulating relevant responses to SARS-CoV-2 infection in vitro.

A Method for Selecting Recreation Reservoirs
Byoung-Kwan Jang, Byoung-E Yang, Sung-Kwon Hong 서울시립대학교 도시과학연구원 2002 International journal of urban sciences (IJUS) Vol. No.
This research was conducted to present the methods for identifying indicators to assess development potential for recreational reservoir watersheds in Korea. Data were collected from environmental planners including landscape architects and urban planners. By analyzing the collected data with importance analysis of indicators and factor analysis, ten measurable recreational development potential indicators(RDPI) were presented. The recreational development potential of each reservoir was calculated by multiplying the score of the ten indicators of each reservoir, transformed to Z-Score, by a weight score of each indicator, thereafter adding up all the values generated. The reliability of the RDPI developed in this research was demonstrated by its high correlation with the development potential of each reservoir assessed by experts in environmental planning(Spearman’s ρ= 0.73, p< .01). In order to develop the RDPI generally applicable to reservoirs and their watersheds in this research, qualitative indicators were converted into measurable ones, the authors’subjective judgment was prevented by reflecting the view of planning specialists as most as possible in determining indicators and AHP was used for calculating the score of weight of each indicator.
Synthesis and In Vitro Cytotoxicity of Cinnamaldehydes to Human Solid Tumor Cells
Kwon, Byoung-Mog,Lee, Seung-Ho,Choi, Sang Un,Park, Sung Hee,Lee, Chong Ock,Cho, Young-Kwon,Sung, Nack-Do,Bok, Song-Hae 충남대학교 생물공학연구소 1999 생물공학연구지 Vol.7 No.-
Cinnamaldehydes and related compounds were synthesized from various cinnamic acids based on the 2'-hydroxycinnamaldehyde isolated from the bark of Cinnamomum cassia Blume. The cytotoxicity to human solid tumor cells such as A549, SK-OV-3, SK-MEL-2, XF498 and HCT15 were measured Cinnamic acid, cinnamates and cinnamyl alcohols did not show any cytotoxicity against the human tumor cells. Cinnamaldehydes and realted compounds were resistant to A549 cell line up to 15 ㎍/ml. In contrast, HCT15 and SK-MEL-2 cells were much sensitive to these cinnamaldehyde analogues which showed ED_50 values 0.63∼8.1 ㎍/ml. Cytotoxicity of the saturated aldehydes was much weak compared to their unsaturated aldehydes. From these studies, it was found that the key functional group of the cinnamaldehyde-related compounds in the antitumor activity is the propenal group.
RHOMBENONE : FARNESYL PROTEIN TRANSFERASE INHIBITOR FROM THE LEAVES OF HEDERA RHOMBEA BEAN
Kwon, Byoung-Mog,Lee, Seung-Ho,Kim, Kyung-Sook,Lee, Ihn-Rhan,Lee, Un Chul,Hong, Su-Hyung,Bok, Song-Hae 梨花女子大學校 藥學硏究所 1998 藥學硏究論文集 Vol.- No.7
Rhombenone, a new dammarane analogue containing an 25-oxo, which inhibits farnesyl protein transferase (FPTase), was isolated from the leaves of Hedera rhombea Bean. Additional related dammaranes were also evaluated for FPTase inhibition.
