The development of advanced 3D printing technologies has opened up new opportunities for customized digital designs in the construction industry. Using nano- and micro-scale additives is expected to improve the performance of cement-based materials in 3D printing. TiO2 particles have been widely used as reinforcing additives in cement-based materials. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the application of cement-based materials containing multi-size TiO2 particles in binder jet 3D printing and the effect of different-size TiO2 particles on the performance of printed samples. TiO2 particles exhibit an excellent filling effect, which increases the density of the printed samples and promotes hydration, thereby improving the compressive strength of the samples. In addition, larger TiO2 particles exert more pronounced filling and photocatalytic effects on the resulting samples.

With the development of nano-reinforcement technology, TiO2 nanomaterials have received widespread attention as one of the additives without pozzolanic reaction, which can be used to improve the mechanical properties of cement-based materials. Meanwhile, with the development of additive manufacturing technology or known as 3D printing technology, its application in the construction field has also got noticed. Therefore, in this work, the effect of three sizes of TiO2 on the compressive strength of hardened cement-based materials fabricated by binder jetting 3d printing was evaluated. According to the results, the TiO2 particles with larger sizes can provide better reinforcement to the hardened cement due to its more significant filling effect.

With the increasing importance of environmental issues, the cementitious materials with self-cleaning or photocatalytic properties by introducing TiO2 materials have been gaining a lot of attention. In this work, the influence of TiO2 particle size and structure on its photocatalytic effect in cement paste was investigated. The degradation of methylene blue solution was used as the parameter for evaluating the photocatalytic effect of micro-TiO2 (m-TiO2), nano-TiO2 (n-TiO2), and TiO2 nanotube (TNT). Moreover, the effect of these three TiO2 materials on the cement hydration products was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and thermgravimetric analysis (TG). According to the results, it can be found that all of the TiO2 materials promoted the formation of hydration products, especially TNT. On the other hand, the m-TiO2 exhibited a better photocatalytic effect compared to other materials.

With the development of nano-reinforcement technology and the increasing concern for environmental issues, TiO2 nanomaterials have received wide attention as an additive besides carbon nanomaterials that can be used to enhance the mechanical properties of cement-based materials. Also, TiO2-based materials can allow cement-baned materials with photocatalytic capability, providing a potentially effective approach to reduce environmental problems. In this work, compressive strength, splitting tensile strength, and degradation of methylene blue solution were used as target to assess the effect of TiO2 nanotubes on the mechanical strength and photocatalytic effect of hardened cement paste at different curing time. According to the strength results, the optimum amount of TiO2 was identified as 0.5% of the weight of cement. Meanwhile, the TiO2 nanotubes-reinforced specimen exhibited better photocatalytic effect in the early stage of curing.

Objective: To investigate the safety and efficacy of transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE), combined with portal vein embolization (PVE), and high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) sequential therapy in treating patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Methods: Patients with inoperative HCC were treated by two methods: in the study group with TACE first, then PVE a week later, and then TACE+PVE every two months as a cycle, after 2~3 cycles finally HIFU was given; in the control group only TACE+PVE was given. Response (CR+PR), and disease control rate (CR+PR+SD), side effects, overall survival and time to progress were calculated. Results: Main side effects of both groups were nausea and vomiting. No treatment related death occurred. In the study group, 32 patients received TACE for overall 67 times, PVE 64 times, and HIFU 99 times; on average 2.1, 2 and 3.1 times for each patient, respectively. In the control group, 36 patients were given TACE 78 times and PVE 74 times, averaging 2.2 and 2.1 times per patient. Effective rate: 25.0% in study group and 8.3% in control group (p>0.05). Disease control rates were 71.9% and 44.4%, respectively (p<0.05). In patients with portal vein tumor thrombus, the rate reduced over 1/2 after treatment was 69.2%(9/13) in the study and 21.4%(3/14) in the control group (p<0.05). Rate of AFP reversion or decrease over 1/2 was 66.7%(16/24) in study and 37%(10/27) (p<0.05) in control group. Median survival time: 16 months in study and 10 months in control group. PFS was 7months in study and 3 months in control group. Log-rank test suggested that statistically significant difference exists between two groups (p=0.024). 1-, 2- and 3-year survival rates were 56.3%, 18.8% and 9.3% in study, while 30.6%, 5.6% and 0 in control group, respectively, with statistically significant difference between two groups (by Log-rank, p = 0.014). Conclusions: The treatment of TACE+PVE+HIFU sequential therapy for HCC increases response rate, prolong survival, and could thus be a safe and effective treatment for advanced cases.

Lin Zhang,Changyi Li,Min Yu,Jiayin Deng,Xing Lv,Jun Liu,Yu Xiao,Wenjie Yang,Yuru Zhang 연세대학교의과대학 2015 Yonsei medical journal Vol.56 No.4
Purpose: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an inflammatory joint disorder, the progressionof which leads to the destruction of cartilage and bone. Chemokines are involvedin RA pathogenesis. In this study, we investigated the chemokine signaling pathway associated with CCL2 in peripheral blood (PB) and synovial tissues (ST) of RA patients based on our previous work about chemokine signaling pathway involvedin the activation of CCL2 production in collagen-induced arthritis rat ST. Materials and Methods: Total RNA was isolated from PB leukocytes and synoviumof the knee joint in both RA patients and control populations. Real-time polymerasechain reaction was used to determine CCL4, CCR5, c-Jun, c-Fos, and CCL2 expressions. Serum level of CCL2 was assessed by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, and the production of CCL2 in ST was analyzed immunohistochemically. Results: The expressions of CCL4, CCR5, c-Jun, c-Fos, and CCL2 messenger RNA in RA patients were significantly higher than those in healthy controls, both in ST and on PB leukocyte. Serum CCL2 levels were elevated in RA patients. Histological examination of rheumatoid joints revealed extensive CCL2 expression in RA ST. Conclusion: CCL2, CCL4, c-Jun, c-Fos, and CCR5 may play an important role in the recruitment of PB leukocytes into the RA joints. These data provide evidence that the chemokine signaling pathway is involved in CCL2 expression in RA patient tissues, which may contribute to chronic inflammation associated with RA. Targetingthis signaling pathway may provide a novel therapeutic avenue in RA.
