        In this paper, the Alternating Current(AC) driving method of Vertical Hall Device(VHD) which is sensitive to the magnetic field parallel to the surface of the chip is presented. This system consists of the phase inverting circuit and Low Pass Filter(LPF) ect. for the amplification of Hall voltage and reduction of offset voltage and noise. When this system was operated, the offset voltage and noise could be reduced effetively. Also, the output voltage of VHD was ±74.0〔mV〕 in the low magnetic field ranges of ±100〔Gauss〕, the linearity of output voltage were good, and the magnetic field resolucation was 0.74〔mv/Gauss〕.

      • 肺 組織에서 胡桃 抽出液이 酸化性 細胞 損傷의 防禦棋戰에 미치는 影響

        胡桃는 補陽藥으로써 下焦를 溫補하고 元氣를 攝納하며 潤肺腎하는 效能이 있어 오래된 虛寒咳嗽, 喘息의 治療에 사용되어 왔는데 肺 組織內에서 酸索遊離基들에 依한 細胞 損傷의 防止 여부를 알아보기 爲하여 酸化劑인 t-butylhydroperoxide(t-BHP)와 H₂O₂로써 細胞 損傷을 유발한 후 胡桃 抽出液의 抗酸化 效果 및 抗酸化 酵素의 活性에 미치는 影響과 酸素遊離基에 對한 직접 消去效果를 調査하였다. 이 결과 胡桃는 肺 組織에서 脂質의 過酸化를 抑制함으로 oxidant에 依한 肺浮腫 誘發을 防止할 수 있음을 보여주었고 細胞內 glutathione의 濃度 및 抗酸化 酵素 中 catalase 와 superoxide dismutase 活性에는 變化를 유발하지 못하였으나 glutathione peroxidase의 活性을 有意하게 增加시켰으며, superoxide radical과 hydroxyl의 生成을 減少시켰다. 따라서, 肺 組織에서 酸化性 細胞 損傷에 對한 胡桃의 保護 效果는 부분적으로 細胞內 抗酸化 酵素의 活性 增加와 酸素遊離基들을 직접 消去시키는 作用에 起因하는 것으로 사료된다. This study was undertaken to determine whether Juglandis Semen extraction(JS) has a protective effect against the lung cell injury caused by oxidants, t-butylhydroperoxide(t-BHP) and H₂O₂in rabbit lung slices. JS significantly prevented an increase in water content indured by t-BHP. Similarly, JS slgnificantly prevented the lipid peroxidation induced by t-BHP. Cellular concentration of glutathione, and the activities of catalbase and superoxide dismutase were significantly not altered by 5% JS. However, JS at 5% concentration significantly increased the glutathione peroxidase activity in oxidant-treated and control tissues. JS decreased directly the production of superxide or hydroxyl radical. These results indicate that JS prevents the cell injury and lipid peroxidation induced by oxidants in the lung. Such an antioxidant effort is attributed to enhancement of major endogenous antioxidant defence systems such as glutathione peroxidase and direct inhibition of oxygen free radical production.

        The wide spread of multimedia sysrem deands a large viewing display device which can inform a message to many peoples in open area. This paper is about the design and simulating of a large viewing digital multi-wision control ASIC(Application Specific Integrated Circuit). In this paper. the digital multi-vision ASIC has one channel of imput cideo signal wihich is compliance with CCIR-656 specification and four channels of output video signal which are compliance with CCIR-601 specificarion. It has 2 operating mode. The one is the pass-thro;ugh mode. input vido signal goes to output video signal without any change, and the another one is the expension mode, input video signal is expended by from 2 to 16 times into output video signal. In expension mode. awindow could be programmed and only the input video signal in the window is expended. The 0.6 micron CMOS sEA OF Gate is used to design the ASIC in amount of about 23,000 gates, and it is simulated at 48MHz.

        In this paper, the vertical Hall device which is sensitive to the magnetic fields parallel to the surface of the chip, is fabricated and characterized. The Hall voltage was ±0.2[mV] in the range of ±100[Gauss]. The current-related Magnetic sensitivity(S_(H)) was about 55[V/AT]. With an increased I_(sup), the offset voltage was also increased. Alternating Current(AC) driving system was used to process the amplification of Hall voltage and the reduction of offset and noise by the AC driving of the vertical Hall device. When the AC driving system was operated, the output of the Hall voltage was ±74.0 [mV] in the low magnetic field ranges of ±100 [Gauss], The magnetic fields resolution was 0.74[mV/Gauss].

        Dieulafoy’s lesion is very rare cause of gastrointestinal bleeding, Deiulafoy’s lesion is exposure of non ulcerative, abnormally large tortuous, thick- walled artery in the muscularis mucosa through a small submucosal defect. It is usullay found on stomach antrum and lesser curvature side of the proximal body, and possibly found on any sites throughout whole gastrointestinal tract, but rarely on rectum. The principal of treating Dieulafoy’s lesion was the surgical resection of lesion, but recently remarkable advances in endoscopic technique make endoscopic approach more popular. We report a case of rectal Dieulafoy’s lesion successfully treated with endoscopic hemoclipping in an elderly female patient.

        Body temperature is controlled by thermoregulatory center of the hypothalamus. We report a case of 24 years old man with central fever. He was subjected to a partial excision of pituitary tumor compressing optic chiasm four years ago. He has received hormonal therapy for panhypothyroidism after removal of pituitary tumor. And He received gamma knife operation for partially contrast-enhancing masses in suprasellar and both hypothalamic areas that is probably postoperatively remnant or recurrent tumor of pituitary adenoma. One year after gamma knife operation, he presented with a febrile syndrome of unknown origin including rhabdomyolysis. All usual investigations proved negative. We diagnosed him as central fever with rhabdomyolysis. He received medical ICU care with cooling bed, ice pack. And his symptom improved. Postoperative hyperthermia may result following resection of the pituitary tumor. When central fever is suspected taking note of past history, a quick recognition of course of fever can help reduce the using of unnecessary antibiotics and hospital stay.

        Bovine botulism outbreak associated with incidental consumption of presumably contaminated leftover food

        Nine cattle among 18 in a native Korean herd died or were euthanized within 3 days. The affected cattle showed cowshed. The pigs and dogs had been fed leftover food originating from nearby restaurants, and the cattle could presumably reach the contaminated food in the pig troughs. Necropsy revealed a few chicken bones and red pepper pieces as well as large amounts of grain and rice straw hay mixed in the rumen. Botulism type D was isolated in the ruminal contents of one of the cattle. We speculated that the outbreak was associated with the cattle incidentally eating presumably contaminated leftover food from the pig trough.

        11β-수산화효소 결핍에 의한 선천성 부신증식증 1예

        저자들은 국내에서 처음으로 음핵 비대와 지속적인 질출혈을 주소로 내원한 19세 여성에서 고혈압이 동반되지 않으면서 11 -수산화효소 결핍으로 인한 선천성부신증식증을 경험하였기에 문헌 고찰과 함께 이를 보고하는 바이다. Congenital adrenal hyperplasia refers to a group of autosomal recessive disorders that is defective in the synthesis of cortisol. The enzymes most often affected are 21-hydroxylase and 11 - hydroxylase. The low levels of cortisol stimulate the pituitary gland to release ACTH. Chronic elevation of the ACTH level causes bilateral adrenal hyperplasia and a secondary increase in androgen formation. We examined a 19 year-old woman presented with clitoral hypertrophy and vaginal spotting. The subjects basal level of serum cortisol was low, but the serum levels of ACTH, 17a-hydroxyprogesterone, deoxy-corticosterone were elevated. The urinary excretions of 17-ketosteroids and 17-hydroxycorticosteroids were also increased. The karyotyping study and transrectal ultrasonography showed normal findings. The patient underwent clitoris reduction surgery and received hydrocortisone. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first case of 11 -hydroxylase deficiency in Korea (J Kor Soc Endocrinol 19:58∼63, 2004).

        Molecular and Antimicrobial Characteristics of Shigella flexneri and Shigella sonnei isolated from Patients in Seoul

        환자에서 분리한 Shigella species 40주의 항균제 감수성 및 병원인자 분포를 조사한 결과, S. flexneri 및 S.sonnei가 각각 20주씩 분리되었다. S. flexneri는 2a형이 16주(80%)로 가장 많았으며, 5a 2주(10%), 1b 1주(5%) 및 형별불능주 1주(5%)이었으며, S. sonnei는 I형 16주(80%), Ⅱ형 1주(5%) 및 I과 Ⅱ 혼합형 3주(15%)이었다. 모든 Shigella균은 streptomycin에 대하여 내성을 나타내었으며, tetracyclin에 대하여 95% 내성을 나타낸 반면, gentamicin 100%, cepahlothin 92.5% 및 kanamycin 82.5%의 감수성을 나타내었다. 다제 내성 중 SM-NA-TE-SXT 패턴이 16주(40%)로 가장 많았으며, SM-AM-CM-TE-CB 9주(22.5%), SM-AM-CM-TE -SXT-CB 5주(12.5%)순이었다. S. sonnei는 ShET-1B gene을 갖고 있지 않았으며, S. flexneri는 ShET-1A와 ShET-1B gene을 모두 갖고 있었다. S. flexneri 는 모두 ipaH, ial 및 Stx gene을 갖고 있는 반면 S. sonnei는 13주만 ipaH, ial 및 Stx gene을 모두 갖고있고, ipaH gene만 가진 균주 1주, ipaH 및 ial gene 가진 균주는 6주이었다. 모든 Shigella균에서 108∼124 Kb및 20∼24 Kb의 플라스미드가 검출되었으나, S. flexneri에서는 5 kb, 3 kb 및 2.5 kb 크기의 플라스미드가, S. sonnei에서는 78∼84 kb, 7 kb 및 4 kb 크기의 플라스미드가 추가로 검출되었다.

        BIS overexpression does not affect the sensitivity of HEK 293T cells against apoptosis

        BCL-2 interacting cell death suppressor (BIS), also known as BAG3, has been known to function as an anti-stress or anti-apoptotic protein. Due to high levels of BIS expression in most of cancer cell lines, strategies to suppress BIS and any subsequent increased sensitivity to apoptosis are usually employed in conjunction with the pro-survival activity of BIS. To overcome the limitations in verifying a substantial level of expression for BIS, here we established BIS-overexpressing 293T cells following retroviral transfection and subsequent selection under puromycin. In a western assay, BIS expression levels were increased about 2.2-fold in selected cells (BIS-293T) compared with that in control cells (CON-293T). There was no difference in either cell growth rate or in cell cycle progression between the two groups. In addition, the susceptibilities of BIS-293T cells were not noticeably different from those of CON-293T cells following treatment with several apoptotic stimuli: cisplatin, VP-16, hydrogen peroxide, KRIBB11 (HSF1 inhibitor), AT-101 (pan- Bcl-2 inhibitor) or staurosporine (PKC inhibitor). Both cells revealed similar expression profiles of Bcl-2 family proteins, cleaved PARP and lipidation of LC3 upon AT-101 treatment, which indicate that BIS overexpression affect neither apoptosis nor autophagy induction upon AT-101 treatment in 293T cells. We further showed that inhibition of autophagy by chemical inhibitor attenuates AT-101-induced apoptosis, which is inconsistent with previous reports of the cytoprotective effect of autophagy that is induced by AT-101 in several types of cancer cells. Taken together, our results suggest that the cellular phenotypes determined by BIS and AT-101 treatment might be different between cancer cells and non- cancer cells and defining the molecular basis for such differences will require further study.
