<P>We sought to identify a new serum biomarker for breast cancer screening and diagnosis using stepwise proteomic analysis of sera from breast cancer patients to detect the presence of autoantibodies that react with urinary protein. Two-dimensional immunoblotting was done for screening autoimmunogenic tumor antigens in the urine of breast cancer patients. Reactive spots were identified by matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry. Among urinary proteins separated by two-dimensional electrophoresis, 13 spots showed strong reactivity with pooled sera from breast cancer patients or control sera. By mass spectrometry, we identified alpha 2-HS glycoprotein (AHSG) as a tumor antigen. Peripheral blood was obtained from 81 women diagnosed with breast cancer before surgery and 73 female donors without evidence of any malignancy for the individual analysis. In one-dimensional Western blot analysis, AHSG autoantibody was detected in 64 of 81 breast cancer patients (79.1%) and in 7 of 73 controls (9.6%). The sensitivity of this test in breast cancer patients was 79.0%. Our results suggest that AHSG and anti-AHSG autoantibody may be useful serum biomarkers for breast cancer screening and diagnosis.</P>
농촌지역의 산업특성과 인구노령화의 상관성 분석을 통한 지역 산업개발 방향 제시에 관한 연구

This study tried to construct a direction in regional planning concerning the structural relationship between the ratio of aged population and the industrial characteristics. We investigated this structural relationship incorporating the aged population index and the number of classified companies. We applied diverse statistical analyses to understand the relationship. We classified the number of companies to reflect regional industrial characteristics using the principal component analysis. We applied a multiple regression model to understand the relationship between these two indices. The aged population index represents the degree of being old divided by the ratio of juvenile population and aged population. We found that such industries as manufacturing, service, and conveyance increase the ratio of juvenile population. However, industries such as tourism, waterworks, forestry, agriculture and etc. have a positive effect on the aged population index. In addition to these findings, we believe that the efficacy of this study is the possibility that can be used as the basic data when central or local autonomous entities need to adopt rural development planning.

Transportation and logistics of agricultural products have been one of the major interests of many researches. Most of researches have been limited to presuming these as a first dimensional process or considering only economic value of agricultural products at each stage of logistics. However, the particular characteristics of agricultural products, such as quality change during transportation or extensively scattered origins, require examining these problems as a whole system. Network model has been adopted to represent nodes, which stand for spatial location of demand and supply of agricultural products, and communication between these nodes. Based on network theory and advanced marketing potential function, an optimal routes selection model is developed. The model employed network simplex method for routes optimization. The application of the model focused on transportation network organization to reflect different market prices for different locations and resulted in optimum routes and profit improvement of the applied agricultural product.

Changes in accumulated pulsed photostimulated luminescene (PPSL) signals were observed after storage, which affected the ability to detect irradiation in black and white peppers. The PPSL curves were accumulated linearly during the 120 s measurement times, and PPSL signals increased according to irradiation doses. Threshold levels of black and white peppers were below 557±220 and 503±92 photon counts in 60 s, and below 679±351 and 812±648 photon counts in 120 s, respectively. The PPSL signals of black and white peppers linearly increased with irradiation dose up to 5 kGy, but very little from 5~10 kGy. The accumulated PPSL signals of irradiated black and white peppers had higher decay rates when stored in normal room conditions than in a darkroom. Detection of irradiation was possible for up to 12 months after irradiation, if the samples were stored in a darkroom.

The purpose of this study is to develop indices and a scoring method for effectively evaluating the project of rural well-longevity villages which makes up for insufficient parts of existing projects on improving settlement foundation and production environment. Evaluating indices include qualitative factors originated from the characteristics of the project so a scoring method based on an information measure technique is used for evaluating the results from each village. Evaluating indices are provided differently depending on each purpose for evaluation. Result indices can be used for ranking project villages and fundamental indices can be used to analyze villages elaborately to improve project plans.
