On The Security of RFID-based Monitoring Mechanism for Retail Inventory Management
( Yu Yi Chen ),( Jinn Ke Jan ),( Meng Lin Tsai ),( Chun Ching Ku ),( Der Chen Huang ) 한국인터넷정보학회 2012 KSII Transactions on Internet and Information Syst Vol.6 No.2
The aim of this article is to provide a study on the issue of inventory inaccuracy and to show the manner in which RFID technology can improve the inventory management performance. The objective of inventory control is to monitor the stock flow of merchandises in order to understand the operating profit and loss. A proper mechanism of inventory control could be made to help the profitability. As RFID is applied to inventory control, it can improve efficiency, enhance accuracy and achieve security. In this paper, we introduce the evolution of different mechanisms of inventory control with RFID system - counting method, collect-all method, and continuous monitoring method. As for improving the accuracy of inventory check during business hours, continuous monitoring is the solution. We introduce the infrastructure of the RFID inventory management system based on M2M architecture can make the inventory be efficiently monitored with instant warnings.

Xylophagous leafhoppers are vectors of xylem-limited plant pathogens such as citrus variegated chlorosis (CVC) and Pierce's disease, which cause Xylella diseases. Currently, no cure for Xylella diseases exists. The objective of endosymbiont control using Wolbachia pipientis is to reduce the populations of insect vectors, potentially preventing the expansion of Xylella diseases. The purpose of this study was to establish primary cell cultures from adult xylem-feeding leafhoppers to study Wolbachia biology. Cells from adult male and female Kolla paulula (Walker) (Hemiptera: Membracoidea: Cicadellinae) were successfully cultured in Dulbecco's Modified Eagle Medium containing 20% fetal bovine serum and were maintained for more than 6 months. Cells of both male and female adults are round and semi-attached. The doubling times for male and female K. paulula cells are approximately 8 and 10 days, respectively. The presence of Wolbachia in K. paulula cell cultures was detected by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) amplification of Wolbachia surface protein (wsp) gene. The cell cultures developed in this study may be useful in studying interactions between Wolbachia and its hosts of different genders.
Development of Composite Load Models of Power Systems using On-line Measurement Data

Load representation has a significant impact on power system analysis and control results. In this paper, composite load models are developed based on on-line measurement data from a practical power system. Three types of static-dynamic load models are derived: general ZIP-induction motor model, Exponential-induction motor model and Z-induction motor model. For the dynamic induction motor model, two different third-order induction motor models are studied. The performances in modeling real and reactive power behaviors by composite load models are compared with other dynamic load models in terms of relative mismatch error. In addition, numerical consideration of ill-conditioned parameters is addressed based on trajectory sensitivity. Numerical studies indicate that the developed composite load models can accurately capture the dynamic behaviors of loads during disturbance.
