제주도지역, 충청남도 서해안지역, 강원도 및 충청북도 자연 동굴지역, 그리고 충청북도 청원군 등지에서 채집한 205점의 토양시료로부터 분리된 총 1,322주의 방선균을 대상으로 Eschericia coli KCTC 1924, Salmonella typhimurium KCTC 1926, Staphylococcus aureus KCTC 1926, Staphylococcus aureus KCTC 1928, Candida albicans KCTC 1940등 5종의 시험균주에 대하여 항균활성을 조사하였다. 액체배양을 위해서는 G.S.S(glucose-soybean meal-starch) 배지와 fish meal 배지등 2종류의 배지를 사용하였으며 그 결과를 균분리원 지역별, 배지별, 시험균주별, 그리고 방선균 종류별로 비교하였다. It is well known that actinomycetes would be useful for screening of biologically active compounds. Not only to isolate diverse actinomycete strains but to ferment those strains effectively would be important. Seven hundred and forty six strains were isolated from Cheju province, 216 strains were from Chungnam province, 158 strains were from the natural caves at Chungbuk and Kangwon provinces and 202 strains were from Chungwon area at Chungbuk province. All of these 1,322 strains were fermented on a small scale using two different media and tested for their antimicrobial activities against four bacterial strains and one yeast strain. As the result, 12.3% of those isolates were active against Staphylococcus aureus KCTC 1916, 7.6% were Staphylococcus aureus KCTC 1928, 3.9% were Eschericia coli KCTC 1924, 3.0% were Canida albicans KCTC 1940, and 2.2% were Salmonella typhimurium KCTC 1926. About 40% of those isolates showed antimicrobial activities at both two media but the others showed at either one. According to the genus of isolated strains, Streptomyces and Micromonospora showed activities with higher frequencies than others.

Long term occupational exposure to solvent mixtures may cause adverse effects to the central nervous system with neurobehavioral symptoms. And some organic slovents have been suggested to cause impairment of tuberoinfundibular dopaminergic activity and neurochemical mechanisms controlling pituitary secretion. For the purpose of assessing neuroendocrine effects in occupational solvents exposure, hormonal study settings (shoes-manufacturing industry & fishing products industry) and compared with nonexposed controls(33 men, 85 women). Male workers exposed to solvent mixtures had significantly lower plasma level of follicle-stimulating hormone(FSH) than nonexposed male controls. While female workers exposed to solvent mixtures had significantly lower plasma levels of growth hormone(GH), and thyroid-stimulating hormone(TSH) than nonexposed female controls. The results of significant decrease in plasma concentrations of pituitary hormones(FSH, GH, and TSH) in workers exposed solvent mixtures indicate that occupational exposure to solvent mixtures may induce neuroendocrine effects through an effect on hypothalamic pituitary axis.
쌍정 경계가 고온 초전도체 Y₁Ba₂Cu₃O단결정의 자기적특성에 미치는 영향

일반적으로 쌍정 경계(twin boundary)는 고온초전도체Y₁Ba₂Cu₃O??? 단결정 내에서 핀 고정점(pinning center)로 작용하여 단결정 시료의 자화에 영향을 미칠 것으로 알려져 왔다. 그러나 이에 대한 체계적인 실험적 연구가 수행되지 않고 있다. 본 실험에서는 Y₁Ba₂Cu₃O??? 단결정 시료를 성장시킨 후, 재 후열처리 과정 중에 단축 가압 방법(uniaxial stress method)을 이용하여 단결정 시료를 detwinning 하였다. 편광효과가 관측된 micro-Raman spectra와 X-ray 회절 패턴으로부터 관측된 (001)면의 주 피크의 2Θ 값을 통해서 단결정이 잘 성장되었음을 확인하였다. 그리고, 반자성 차폐 효과, 마이스너 효과 및 자기이력 측정 결과로부터 detwinning시간이 길어져서 쌍정 경계의 비율이 감소할수록 자화폭이 감소함을 관측하였다. 이로부터 자속 고정(flux pinning)이 줄어듦을 알 수 있었다. 그러므로 쌍정 경계가 고온초전도체 Y₁Ba₂Cu₃O??? 단결정의 핀 고정점으로 작용한다는 것을 알 수 있었다. Generally it is suggested that twin boundaries play the major role of the pinning center in high-Tc superconductor Y₁Ba₂Cu₃???? single crystal and influences the magnetization. However, any systematic experiment related with this expectation has not been performed yet. In this experiment, after growing Y₁Ba₂Cu₃??? single crystals, we detwinned them in oxygen atmosphere using uniaxial stress method while annealing them again. It was verified that single crystals had been grown well from micro-Raman spectra that showed the polarization effect and 2Θ values of (001) plain peaks in X-ray diffraction pattern. We observed that values of magnetization of samples decreased from antimagnetic shield effects, Meissner effect and magnetic hysteresis as detwinning time was increased and this result means that flux pinning decreases. As a result we confirmed that twin boundaries act as a pinning center in high-Tc superconductor Y₁Ba₂Cu₃??? single crystal.

The development of photoacoustic spectroscopy(PAS) was carried out for liquid sample by using piezoelectric transducer(PZT). In order to carry out the work the cell was designed and made, and its characteristics of frequency responses were investigated. The PAS of distilled water was obtained by using the cell and detected by PZT in visible lights wavelength range of 400∼500nm from Halogen lamp light source. According to this study, it shows that the development of PAS for liquid sample by using PZT is more easier and simpler than by using microphone detector.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P><P>Apoptosis-inducing factor (AIF) is a ubiquitous FAD-binding flavoprotein comprised of 613 amino acids and plays an important role in caspase-independent apoptosis. During apoptotic induction, AIF is translocated from the mitochondrial intermembrane space to the nucleus, where it interacts with DNA and activates a nuclear endonuclease. By performing a yeast two-hybrid screen with mature AIF, we have isolated the eukaryotic translation initiation factor 3 subunit p44 (eIF3g). Our deletion mutant analysis revealed that the eIF3g N-terminus interacts with the C-terminal region of AIF. The direct interaction between AIF and eIF3g was confirmed in a GST pull-down assay and also verified by the results of co-immunoprecipitation and confocal microscopy studies. Using an in vitro TNT coupled transcription–translation system, we found that mature AIF could inhibit newly-translated protein synthesis and this inhibition was significantly blocked by eIF3g competitively. These results were also confirmed in cells. In addition, mature AIF overexpression specifically resulted in the activation of caspase-7, thereby amplifying the inhibition of protein synthesis including eIF3g cleavage. Our data suggest that eIF3g is one of the cytosolic targets that interacts with mature AIF, and provide insight into the AIF’s cellular functions of the inhibition of protein synthesis during apoptosis.</P>

<P>Tristetraprolin (TTP) is a AU-rich element (ARE) binding protein and exhibits suppressive effects on cell growth through down-regulation of ARE-containing oncogenes. The <I>let-7</I> microRNA has emerged as a significant factor in tumor suppression. Both TTP and <I>let-7</I> are often repressed in human cancers, thereby promoting oncogenesis by derepressing their target genes. In this work, an unexpected link between TTP and <I>let-7</I> has been found in human cancer cells. TTP promotes an increase in expression of mature <I>let-7</I>, which leads to the inhibition of <I>let-7</I> target gene <I>CDC34</I> expression and suppresses cell growth. This event is associated with TTP-mediated inhibition of Lin28, which has emerged as a negative modulator of <I>let-7</I>. <I>Lin28</I> mRNA contains ARE within its 3′-UTR and TTP enhances the decay of <I>Lin28</I> mRNA through binding to its 3′-UTR. This suggests that the TTP-mediated down-regulation of Lin28 plays a key role in <I>let-7</I> miRNA biogenesis in cancer cells.</P>
학년에 따른 학령기 다문화가정아동과 일반가정아동의 생성이름대기 특성 비교

본 연구의 목적은 생성이름대기를 사용하여 학령기 다문화가정 아동의 언어발달 특성을 조사하고, 일반가정 아동의 언어발달과 비교한 뒤, 학년간의 차이를 살펴보고자 하였다. 연구대상은 서울시에 거주하는 다문화가정의 초등학생 1학년부터 5학년까지 총 29명(여자: 22명, 남자: 7명)으로 하였다. 비교집단의 일반가정 아동은 같은 초등학교에 다니고 있는 아동으로 총 33명(여자: 27명, 남자: 6명)으로 하였다. 동물과 가게물건 의미범주 생성이름대기와 /ㄱ/와 /ㅅ/ 음소범주 생성이름대기를 실시하여, 산출수와 군집수, 전환수를 측정하였다. 결과는 생성이름대기 산출수, 군집수, 전환수에서 다문화가정 아동과 일반가정 아동의 학년간 차이가 유의미하였다. The purpose of this study was to investigate the characteristics in generative naming and to compare the school-aged children of multi-cultural family and Ordinary family, and across the academic years. The participated children were 29(girl:22, boy:7) children multi-cultural family and 33(girl:27,boy:6) children of ordinary family, with the semantic of animal and goods in store, and the phonetic of /ㄱ/ and /ㅅ/. On the generative naming of semantic and phonetic, we take a look at the number of words, number of clusters, and number of switches. The following results were obtained: 1. From generative naming of semantic, and phonetic, the number of words, the number of clusters, and number of switches were noticeably less in children of multicultural family than children of ordinary family 2. From generative naming of semantic, and phonetic, the number of words, the number of clusters, and number of switches significantly different between 5 academic age groups in children of ordinary family, but multi-cultural family.
