본고는 Dylan Tsai(2015)의 전반부를 번역한 것이다. Tsai의 연구성과는 중국어 기능성분의 지형도를 통해 중국어 문법 구축에 새로운 시야를 제공해준다는 점에서 큰 영향력을 발휘하고 있다. Tsai(2015)에서는 중국어의 기능성분은 경동사구 외연과 좌측 외연이라는 두 특정 영역에 집중되어 있으며, 이는 다시 통사-의미 접합면에서 각각 동반성과인과성에 결부되어 있음을 밝히고 있다. 의문/재귀 부사어, 경동사, 부가논항, 목적어 전치 등 중국어 및 언어 교차적인 다양한 사례들은 내부-외부 이분법의 존재에 강력한 입증자료를 제공해 준다. 이러한 연구결과는 지형학적인 접근법에 기초하여 통사-의미의 사상관계를 폭넓게 이해하는데 크게 기여하고 있다. This paper is a translation of the first half part of Tsai(2015)’s influential work, which provides new insights into the architecture of Chinese grammar, particularly in mapping out the topography of Chinese functional elements. Tsai shows that the distribution of Chinese functional elements is concentrated in two specific areas (i.e., the vP periphery and the left periphery), which in turn are associated with comitativity and causality respectively through the syntax-semantics interface. Both language-internal and cross-linguistic evidence from wh-/reflexive adverbials, light verbs, applicatives, and object fronting lend strong support to the existence of the inner-outer dichotomy. These findings make a great contribution to the full understanding of the nature of syntax-semantics mapping under the cartographic approach.

An Implementation of the Enhanced-CAN BUS Network Connection in CAR Real-Time Embedded Software System

Today’s automobile is featuring a large number of Electronic Control Units (ECUs). This will increase the system complexity, which will consequently increase the difficulties of programming design and safety and the software cost. Therefore, it is important to provide a reliable, real-time, effective and eventually a low-cost software development tool in the automotive industrial market. ERIKA Enterprise provides an open source for multi-processor real-time operating system kernel, implementing a collection of application programming interfaces similar to those of OSEK/VDX standard for automotive embedded controllers. In this paper, we research the automotive software framework for ERIKA Enterprise, and through the conducting of ERIKA software, the real time operating system for OSEK can be ported (embedded) into target ECU hardware in easily. Finally, we propose a demonstrative application for enhanced CAN (ECAN) bus network connection to show how real-time transmission of data frames through ECAN bus network connection is guaranteed by ERIKA Enterprise.

Improvement of ulcerative colitis control by searching and restricting of inflammatory trigger factors in daily clinical practice

Background/Aims: Exacerbating factors of ulcerative colitis (UC) are multiple and complex with individual influence. We aimed to evaluate the efficacy of disease control by searching and restricting inflammation trigger factors of UC relapse individually in daily clinical practice. Methods: Both patients with UC history or new diagnosis were asked to avoid dairy products at first doctor visit. Individual-reported potential trigger factors were restricted when UC flared up (Mayo endoscopy score ≥1) from remission status. The remission rate, duration to remission and medication were analyzed between the groups of factor restriction complete, incomplete and unknown. Results: The total remission rate was 91.7% of 108 patients with complete restriction of dairy product. The duration to remission of UC history group was significantly longer than that of new diagnosis group (88.5 days vs. 43.4 days, P=0.006) in patients with initial endoscopic score 2–3, but no difference in patients with score 1. After first remission, the inflammation trigger factors in 161 relapse episodes of 72 patients were multiple and personal. Milk/dairy products, herb medicine/Chinese tonic food and dietary supplement were the common factors, followed by psychological issues, non-dietary factors (smoking cessation, cosmetic products) and discontinuation of medication by patients themselves. Factor unknown accounted for 14.1% of patients. The benefits of factor complete restriction included shorter duration to remission (P<0.001), less steroid and biological agent use (P=0.022) when compared to incomplete restriction or factor unknown group. Conclusions: Restriction of dairy diet first then searching and restricting trigger factors personally if UC relapse can improve the disease control and downgrade the medication usage of UC patients in daily clinical practice.

Sociable Kitchen: Interactive Recipe System in Kitchen Island

Kitchen as a space for social interaction and communication has been neglected in current HCI design. Most researches on kitchen mainly focus on cooking activities, so to correct human’s frailties become main development in HCI research. Here instead of creating some artifact to improve working activities in the kitchen, we direct our study to design a system that aims to increase social interactions and communications among people. A tangible interactive recipe system embedded in kitchen island was introduced and evaluated. The results indicate that visual representation of dishes could facilitate people’s share of experiences and positive responses toward each other. A record of people’s favorite foods could also make food preparation easier and understand others’ preferences. Moreover, people enjoyed the intuitive way of the system’s interaction. Nevertheless, although people made some flavor changes in their final decision, people commented on lacking of personal creativity in current system. Further implications on sociable design are discussed in this study.

Special Report: A 21-Year Publication Analysis of Congenital Heart CT and MRI Articles

A previous 1999 to 2010 analysis showed that Asia is the only continent publishing more congenital heart CT articles than those concerning MR imaging. A 1999 to 2020 follow-up, 21-year analysis shows the same trend. Among the 16 countries that published more than 21 congenital heart CT and 21 congenital heart MR articles in this period, South Korea, Taiwan, Japan, and China were the only four countries with CT/MR ratios of at least 1. As compared with 12 countries with CT/MR publication ratios of less than 1, these four countries have significantly lower health expenditures per capita (2395 USD vs. 5225 USD; p=0.029). On the citation map of congenital heart CT, South Korea, Taiwan, and Japan pioneered this field, but recent growth in the prominence of this imaging modality has been observed in China. Several researchers are at the center of the citation map, indicating the key roles they play in the accumulation and growth of the literature.

Carbon induced phase transformation in electrospun TiO₂/multiwall carbon nanotube nanofibers

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Nanofibers of titania and composite nanofibers of titania and multiwall carbon nanotubes were synthesized by electrospinning using a sol-gel process combined with activated carbon nanotubes. The relationships of treatment temperature, carbon nanotube content on the crystal phase, fiber morphology, and electric properties are reported. It is found that the rutile phase becomes more prominent at low heat treatment temperatures with an increase of carbon content in nanofibers, be it for higher amount of carbon due to reducing atmosphere or due to an increase in MWCNT. Atmospheric control and lower heat treatment temperatures enable crystalline nanocomposite fibers of anatase where the level of rutile is below the detection limit of XRD or Raman spectroscopy. This work provides a new path to fabricate electrospun TiO<SUB>2</SUB>/MWCNT nanocomposite nanofibers with limited C-induced rutile phase.</P>

The genus Arocatus in Taiwan (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Lygaeidae)

<P>Species of the genus Arocatus Spinola, 1837 (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Lygaeidae: Lygaeinae) occurring in Taiwan are reviewed, illustrated and keyed. Arocatus elegantulus sp. nov. is described; earlier records of Caenocoris dimidiatus Breddin, 1907 from Taiwan and the Ryukyu Archipelago of Japan pertain to this new species. Arocatus pseudosericans Gao, Kondorosy & Bu, 2013 and A. nanus (Breddin, 1900) are recorded for the first time from Taiwan; earlier records of A. sericans (Stål, 1859) pertain to A. pseudosericans. The distribution of A. sericans and A. pseudosericans in Japan and Korea and the intraspecific variability of A. pseudosericans are discussed. The identification problems of the genera Arocatus, Caenocoris Fieber, 1860 and Thunbergia Horváth, 1914 are highlighted, the external male genitalia of T. cf. marginata (Thunberg, 1822) are described and illustrated, and diagnostic characters potentially suitable for distinguishing Thunbergia from Arocatus are provided. </P>
