Recently, soft tissue expansion technique using tissue expanders has become a popular method for reconstruction of soft tissue defect because it provides high quality tissue with similar color, texture and hair bearing characteristics without significant donor site problems. During the period September, 1983 to December, 1988, we used tissue expanders to treat 36 patients with soft tissue defect, 3 scalp, 10 face, 6 neck, 4 trunk, 10 upper extremity, 3 lower extremity and evaluated the operative techniques, results and complications as follows. 1. We achieved favorable results in 31 cases(86.1%), especially in scalp, face and upper extremity, but poor results in lower extremity, especially below knee in location. 2. We experienced major complications in 2 cases(5.6%) such as implant exposure and minor complications in 7 cases(19.4%) such as hematoma, partial necrosis, infection, underlying bony depression etc. 3. Capsular excision is not desirable, but capsular release may permitted to acquire maximal length of the advancing flap. 4. In case of microtia, expanded tissue which was obtained from expanders is defficient for elevation of framework without skin graft. 5. Accurate and meticulous preoperative evaluation is the most important factor in achieving good and results.

There is increasing demand by cleft patients for improvement in their esthetic appearance and occlusion. Cleft lip and palate deformoty is a multifaceted problem. It is important to consider the underlying skeleton of the face as well as the covering soft tissue. With proper presurgical planing such as photographic, cephalmetric and dental cast analysis, the two jaw osteotomy and other procedures were performed simultaneously in 6 post-cleft deformity cases. We improved their facial appearance and occlusion. Their acceptance and satisfaction are exceptionally high.

This work demonstrates a method for modeling of electrical conductivity in high-temperature proton-conduction oxides. Total conductivity was calculated assuming that it comprises partial conductivities contributed by proton. oxygen ion and electron hole. From the plot σ_tot vs po_2^1/4 in wet atmosphere, thermodynamic and kinetic parameters were obtained representing transport properties such as concentration and mobility of the charge-carrying defects. The formulae for the calculation of partial conductivities were derived based on the defect structure of HTPCs. Illustrative calculations were made for SrCe_0.95Yb_0.05O_2.976.

Electrical conduction in BaZr_0.95Y_0.05O_2.975. was invesigated. Aging effect was observed in total conductivity. Partial conductivities, contributed, by protons, oxygen ions and electron holes, were determined from the relationship of total conductivity vs. partial pressures of water vapor and oxygen. Protons were minority defects, which had been observed in other zirconate HTPCs. As a result, proton conductivity and total conductivity increased with P_w^1/2

The colorectal carcinoma shows the highest incidence of cancer death in Korea. The colorectal carcinomas are diverse in their carcinogenesis, as some progress from polypoid adenoma to carcinoma while others occur de novo, or combined de novo and adenoma to carcinoma sequence. The searchs for the early biomarker of the colorectal carcinoma are important not only for the early detection of the cancer but also for the effective treatment. Brain type glycogen phosphorylase (BGP) is a kind of fetal isoenzyme frequently expressed in the various carcinoma, such as gastric carcinoma, renal cell carcinoma and colorectal carcinoma. In this study, the expression of BGP was evaluated in the colorectal carcinoma, normal appearing mucosa adjacent to the carcinoma and aberrant crypts foci (ACF) by immunohistochemistry using 70 cases of colorectal carcinoma. The results were as follows. 1. The BGP was expressed in 91.4% of 70 cases of colorectal carcinoma. 2. The expression rate of BGP accoarding to the location of the carcinoma was not different. 3. Seventeen percent of the colorectal carcinoma occurred by the polypoid adenoma-carcinoma sequence, while 60% of the cases occurred from de nove and 22.9% from combined polypoid adenoma-carcinoma sequence and de nove. 4. The BGP was expressed in 91.4% of normal mucosa adjacent to the carcinoma, while in 17.1% of normal mucosa for apart from the carcinoma. The BGP expressed in the above results suggest that the colorectal carcinoma arsie more frequently in de novo than polypoid adenoma-carcinoma sequence, which suggest that the pathogenesis of coloretal carcinoma in Korean might be different from that of western people. And the expression pattern of BGP in the colorectal mucosa could be early biomarker of carcinoma and the immunohistochemical stain for the expression of the BGP might be used for the early detection of the colorectal carcinoma.

Generally, the accuracy of the prediction of flood elevation is difficult to identify due to the sedimentation on a river bed, earth and sand being moved by flow, and localized torrential downpours caused by climate change. It is also because of natural and artificial influences on rivers. To predict river floodings successfully, more precise and reliable flood elevation prediction system is needed, in which the concentration time of downstream is numerically interpreted through analyzing and utilizing the watermark of the upper region. Therefore, this research analyzed the prediction methods of the changes in water levels, which use the watermarks of the upper region. The watermarks which impacts the spot being predicted of flood was selected through floodgate analysis and correlation analysis. With the selected watermarks, a statistically reliable regression equation was yielded.

When hydrogen is dissolved in an oxide, protons and electrons make diffusion pair and thus lead to the transport of H_(2) under its chemical potential gradient. The present manuscript develops relationships between the chemical diffusion coefficient of H_(2) and the diffusion coefficient of protons and electrons by determining thermodynamic factor of H_(2), W_(H)_(2). When thermodynamic ideal behavior is assumed for protons and electrons, W_(H)_(2) turns out to be 4. If hydrogen solubility in the oxide follows Henrian ideal behavior, W_(H)_(2)= 1. In case hydrogen solubility obeys Sivert's law, we obtain W_(H)_(2)= 2.

The blast vibrations were measured from 10 places through Seoul subway area to study their effects on the structures and to establish the safe blasting limits. For purpose of the present study, particle velocity only was recorded and analyzed, because it correlated most directly with damage. The results are as follows: (1) The proagation equation, V=K(D/W1/3)-n was obtained. Typical values could be found for n range from 1.7 to 1.5 and for k range from 48 to 138. (2) From the relationship between schmidt hammer rebound hardness and uniaxial compressive strength, Sc=0.514×(S.H)0.23, the compressive strength at any area can be assumed. (3) The use of AN-FO and other explosives with low detonation pressure may reduce vibration levels generated.

Schwartz-christofel transformation has been widely used to solve engineering problems. In this paper, this transformation is used to calculate topographic problems. Any two points of z-plane are transformed into ε-plane by Schwartz-Christofel transformation using calculator.
