      • Computer vision-based displacement measurement with m-sequence target

        Yi-Ding Hu,Qi Xia,Rong-rong Hou,Yong Xia,Jian-yi Yan 국제구조공학회 2021 Smart Structures and Systems, An International Jou Vol.27 No.3

The development of image sensors enables the application of vision-based techniques to the non-contact displacement measurement of large-scale structures. The features of the physical targets are critical to the accuracy, stability and anti-interference of the displacement measurement results. In this study, a novel m-sequence target and the associated circular correlation processing technique are developed for real-time displacement measurement. The properties of the m-sequence as a pseudo-random sequence are introduced. The vision-based displacement calculation method is then derived from the correlation property of the m-sequence. The algorithms and measurement systems are integrated in the LabVIEW environment. To verify the anti-interference performance of the developed system, static and dynamic experimental tests are carried out with various forms of interference, such as partial occlusion, uneven illumination, out of focus and smoke effect. Experimental results indicate that the developed system cannot only accurately measure structural displacement, but also has outstanding antiinterference performance, even if 30% of the target is masked.

      • Room Temperature Dry and Lubricant Wear Behavior of Al₂O₃f/SiCp Hybrid Metal Matrix Composites

        Yi Qi Wang,Yu Shi,Ali Md. Afsar,Jung-Il Song 대한기계학회 2008 대한기계학회 춘추학술대회 Vol.2008 No.5

Wear behavior of Al₂O₃f and SiCp hybrid MMCs are investigated with a view to analyzing the effects of fiber orientations and hybrid ratios under room temperature. The MMCs were fabricated with different hybrid ratios by squeeze casting method. The tests were carried out for both the dry and lubricant conditions using a pin-on-disk friction and wear tester. The dry test results showed that the F20P0 MMCs with N-orientation of fibers had better wear behavior than those with PR-orientation. However, for hybrid MMCS, the wear behavior was better for PR-orientation. The lubricant wear behavior showed that the F20P0 MMCs were better with PR-orientation and hybrid MMCs were better with N-orientation of fibers.

Study on the Influence of the Language Symbols on Side-Scrolling Puzzle Games - Focused on the Players' Empathy

Qi Yi,Xinyi Shan,Jeanhun Chung 한국인터넷방송통신학회 2023 International Journal of Internet, Broadcasting an Vol.15 No.1

According to whether language symbols are used to solve puzzles, puzzle games can be roughly divided into puzzle games with language symbols and puzzle games without language symbols. Puzzles games with language symbols can be subdivided into dialogue puzzles games and word puzzles games. These different puzzle-solving methods have different characteristics and have different effects on the empathy in the game. In horizontal scrolling games, due to the characteristics of the third-person perspective of horizontal scrolling games, there is always a ‘fourth wall’ between the player and the controlled character, making it difficult for players to gain a empathy when playing such games .Especially when there is a dialogue between a player-controlled character and an NPC, the sense of distance between the player and the character will be further amplified. As one of the most common game types in side-scrolling games, side-scrolling puzzle games can be divided into language symbols-based puzzle game and non-language symbols-based puzzle game according to whether language symbols are used to solve puzzles, and then promote the development of the game plot. We combine the characteristics of horizontal scrolling games, and analyze the influence of language symbols on empathy in puzzle-solving games by summarizing the game characteristics of two different puzzle-solving methods. The results show that in horizontal scrolling puzzle games, solving puzzles without using language symbols can better expand the player's sense of plot substitution.

A Comparative Study on the Game Experience of VR Horror Games and Side Scrolling Horror Games

Qi Yi,정진헌 국제문화기술진흥원 2023 International Journal of Advanced Culture Technolo Vol.11 No.2

Since 2017, the application of VR technology in the game field has become more and more extensive, and more and more scholars have conducted research on VR games, especially VR horror games. This article will conduct research on VR horror games and scrolling scroll games through comparative analysis, and believes that VR horror games are much stronger than side scrolling scrolling games in terms of immersion. However, due to its unique flat third-person perspective, completely different operation methods and the existence of ‘the fourth wall in side-scrolling horror games, Players can clearly realize that they are in an absolutely safe environment, and that they are just manipulators of game characters, not experiencers of terrorist events, so players will not receive excessive fright. Therefore, this article believes that the number of players who like side-scrolling horror games with certain horror elements is greater than the number of players who like pure VR horror games. Many traditional games in this paper have their own advantages in many aspects. For example, many traditional games such as horizontal games also have good development prospects in the future. We should promote the research on games in the academic community from multiple angles, not limited to popular VR games.

Research of Character Design in Side-scrolling Horror Puzzle Games

Yi, Qi,Chung, Jeanhun The Institute of Internet 2022 International journal of advanced smart convergenc Vol.11 No.2

The third-person side view game perspective of side-scrolling games makes playing such games a completely different gaming experience from other traditional games. Nowadays, many game elements are combined with each other, and horror and puzzle elements are often combined to appear in side-scrolling games, bringing players a unique gaming experience. In such games, players seem to be watching their own manipulation of characters. The performance is the same as a stage play, so how to let players better experience such a horror and puzzle-solving stage play through the design of the characters is a key point. However, it is often difficult to accurately classify only from game elements, so first of all, the author will explain the game division of the side scrolling horror puzzle game. After that, this article will analyze the character designs in the three works with high sales and good reputation on Steam, and then draw conclusions.

      • Characterization of three serotonin receptors from the small white butterfly, <i>Pieris rapae</i>

        Qi, Yi-xiang,Jin, Miao,Ni, Xu-yang,Ye, Gong-yin,Lee, Youngseok,Huang, Jia Elsevier 2017 Insect biochemistry and molecular biology Vol.87 No.-

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine, 5-HT) plays a key role in modulating diverse physiological processes and behaviors in both protostomes and deuterostomes. These functions are mediated through the binding of serotonin to its receptors, which are recognized as potential insecticide targets. We investigated the sequence, pharmacology and tissue distribution of three 5-HT receptors (Piera5-HT1A, Piera5-HT1B, Piera5-HT7) from the small white butterfly <I>Pieris rapae</I>, an important pest of cultivated cabbages and other mustard family crops. Activation of Piera5-HT1A or Piera5-HT1B by 5-HT inhibited the production of cAMP in a dose-dependent manner. Stimulation of Piera5-HT7 with 5-HT increased cAMP level significantly. Surprisingly, with the exception of 5-methoxytryptamine, agonists including α-methylserotonin, 8-Hydroxy-DPAT and 5-carboxamidotryptamine activated these receptors poorly. The results are consistent with previous findings in <I>Manduca sexta</I>. All three receptors were blocked by methiothepin, but ketanserin and yohimbine were not effective. The selective mammalian 5-HT receptor antagonists SB 216641 and SB 269970 displayed potent inhibition effects on Piera5-HT1B and Piera5-HT7 respectively. The results we achieved here indicate that the pharmacological properties of Lepidoptera 5-HT receptors are quite different from those in other insects and vertebrates and may contribute to development of new selective pesticides. This study offers important information on three 5-HT receptors from <I>P. rapae</I> that will facilitate further analysis of the functions of 5-HT receptors in insects.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Serotonin receptors Piera5-HT1A, Piera5-HT1B, and Piera5-HT7 from <I>Pieris rapae</I> were cloned and examined. </LI> <LI> Upon serotonin activation, Piera5-HT1A and Piera5-HT1B inhibited cAMP production whereas Piera5-HT7 induced it. </LI> <LI> All three receptors were poorly activated by serotoninergic agonists, indicating their distinct pharmacological properties. </LI> <LI> All three receptors were blocked by methiothepin; SB 216641 and SB 269970 inhibited Pr5-HT1B and Pr5-HT7, respectively. </LI> <LI> All three receptors were highly expressed in neuronal tissues while Pr5-HT7 mRNA predominated in the gut. </LI> </UL> </P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>

Optimization of Brazing Conditions for OFHC Cu and ASTM A501 Low Carbon Steel by Taguchi Method

Yi Qi Wang,Ali Md. Afsar,송정일 한국정밀공학회 2009 International Journal of Precision Engineering and Vol. No.

This paper concerns the optimization of brazing conditions for joining the two dissimilar materials Oxygen-free high conductivity (OFHC) copper and ASTM A501 low carbon steel usually used for an Oil-Separator of an airconditioner using Ag-based (BAg) alloy as a brazing filler metal (BFM). A mixture of 70% N2 and 30% H2 gases was used to prevent oxidation of the joints during furnace brazing process. Brazing joint clearance, length, temperature, and time were selected as design parameters that have significant effect on the bonding strength of a brazed joint. Taguchi method was used as a statistical technique for design of experiment (DOE) in an attempt to optimize brazing conditions in terms of shear strength. L9 (34) orthogonal array was designed for conducting the experiments. The relative influence of design parameters and their interaction on the response were also discussed. The experimental results verified that the brazing conditions predicted in this study by Taguchi method could produce the brazed joint between OFHC copper and ASTM A501 low carbon steel with maximum shear strength.

      • Wear Mechanisms of Al₂O3f/SiCp Reinforced Al Metal Matrix Composites under Dry and Lubricant Wear Conditions at Room Temperature

        Yi Qi Wang,Yu Shi,Foisal Ahmand Mirza,Ali Md. Afsar,Jung Il Song(송정일) 대한기계학회 2008 대한기계학회 춘추학술대회 Vol.2008 No.10

This study investigates the room temperature sliding wear mechanisms of Al₂O₃f and SiCp reinforced Al metal matrix composites (MMCs). The effects of fiber orientation and fiber to particle hybrid ratio on the wear behaviors at both the dry and lubricant conditions are discussed in details. The MMC specimens were fabricated by squeeze casting method with different hybrid ratios and fiber orientations. The tests were carried out by a pin-on-disk friction and wear tester at a constant sliding speed of 0.36 ㎧ (570 rpm) against a steel counter disk. The results of dry sliding tests showed that the F20P0 (unhybrid) MMCs with normal (N) orientation of fibers had better wear behaviors than those with planer-random (PR) orientation of fibers. However, for hybrid MMCs, the wear behavior was better for PR-orientation of fibers. On the contrary, the lubricant wear behaviors of F20P0 MMCs with PR-orientation of fibers were superior to those with N-orientation of fibers and the reverse lubricant wear behaviors were observed for hybrid MMCs. Finally, the scanning electron microscope (SEM) images of the wear surface and debris were used for investigating the modes of wear.

Enhanced Photocatalytic Performance of Heterojunction BiOI/BiOIO3 Nanocomposites Under Simulated Solar Light

        Yi Ling Qi,Xu Chun Song,Yi Fan Zheng 성균관대학교(자연과학캠퍼스) 성균나노과학기술원 2017 NANO Vol.12 No.3

Novel heterostructure BiOI/BiOIO3 nanocomposites were successfully prepared through a facile deposition method at room temperature. BiOIO3 is a noncentrosymmetric compound that has an internal self-built electric field. BiOI was applied as a visible light absorber to sensitize semiconductors owing to its smallest bandgap. The coupling between BiOIO3 and BiOI can combine their advantages and improve photocatalytic properties. Compared with the single BiOI and BiOIO3, the heterostructure BiOI/BiOIO3 nanocomposites displayed a significantly enhanced photocatalytic activity for the Rhodamine B (RhB) degradation. The enhanced photocatalytic performance is deduced closely related to the formation of BiOI/BiOIO3 heterojunction interface whose presence is regarded to be a favorable factor for the transfer and separation of the photogenerated electrons and holes.
