        Two-phase flow pattern online monitoring system based on convolutional neural network and transfer learning

        Two-phase flow may almost exist in every branch of the energy industry. For the corresponding engineering design, it is very essential and crucial to monitor flow patterns and their transitions accurately. With the high-speed development and success of deep learning based on convolutional neural network (CNN), the study of flow pattern identification recently almost focused on this methodology. Additionally, the photographing technique has attractive implementation features as well, since it is normally considerably less expensive than other techniques. The development of such a two-phase flow pattern online monitoring system is the objective of this work, which seldom studied before. The ongoing preliminary engineering design (including hardware and software) of the system are introduced. The flow pattern identification method based on CNNs and transfer learning was discussed in detail. Several potential CNN candidates such as ALexNet, VggNet16 and ResNets were introduced and compared with each other based on a flow pattern dataset. According to the results, ResNet50 is the most promising CNN network for the system owing to its high precision, fast classification and strong robustness. This work can be a reference for the online monitoring system design in the energy system.

        The optimization for the straight-channel PCHE size for supercritical CO<sub>2</sub> Brayton cycle

        Printed Circuit Heat Exchanger (PCHE) is a widely used heat exchanger in the supercritical carbon dioxide (sCO<sub>2</sub>) Brayton cycle because it can work under high temperature and pressure, and has been a hot topic in Next Generation Nuclear Plant (NGNP) projects for use as recuperators and condensers. Most previous studies focused on channel structures or shapes. However, no clear advancement has so far been seen in the allover size of the PCHE. In this paper, we proposed an optimal size of the PCHE with a fixed volume. Two boundary conditions of PCHE were simulated, respectively. When the volume of PCHE was fixed, the heat transfer rate and pressure loss were picked as the optimization objectives. The Pareto front was obtained by the Multi-objective optimization procedure. We got the optimized number of PCHE channels under two different boundary conditions from the Pareto front. The comprehensive performance can be increased by 5.3% while holding in the same volume. The numerical results from this study can be used to improve the design of PCHE with straight channels.

      • Internet based Marketing Innovation in China’s Real Estate Market

        With the in-depth implementation of the "Internet +" strategy in China, the further integration of internet within traditional industries creates new opportunities for industrial development. The overall market turnover in Chinese real estate industry turned into a low level, and the inventories continue rise. The traditional marketing models have got into trouble. More and more real estate companies begin to replace the original marketing models with utilizing the internet thinking in marketing promotion. Many enterprises are trying to combine various aspects of real estate marketing with internet to create new marketing models. This article introduces the new situation faced by the real estate marketing in the internet era, which includes real estate crowd funding (Zhong Chou), national marketing, the online to offline model of the real estate and classified information websites, and it also indicates the dilemmas in the application of the internet, such as lack of credibility of internet marketing, barriers on holding experience-focused promotion on internet, and no precise entry point to combine with the internet, etc. After all, this paper suggests reasonable recommendations on the development of the real estate marketing in the internet era.

      • Typhoon wind hazard analysis using the decoupling approach

        Analyzing the typhoon wind hazards is crucial to determine the extreme wind load on engineering structures in the typhoon prone region. In essence, the typhoon hazard analysis is a high-dimensional problem with randomness arising from the typhoon genesis, environmental variables and the boundary layer wind field. This study suggests a dimension reduction approach by decoupling the original typhoon hazard analysis into two stages. At the first stage, the randomness of the typhoon genesis and environmental variables are propagated through the typhoon track model and intensity model into the randomness of the key typhoon parameters. At the second stage, the probability distribution information of the key typhoon parameters, combined with the randomness of the boundary layer wind field, could be used to estimate the extreme wind hazard. The Chinese southeast coastline is taken as an example to demonstrate the adequacy and efficiency of the suggested decoupling approach.

      • Liver Cancer Mortality Trends during the Last 30 Years in Hebei province: Comparison Results from Provincial Death Surveys Conducted in the 1970's, 1980's, 1990's and 2004-2005

        Background and Aims: Liver cancer is a major health problem in low-resource countries. Approximately 55% of all liver cancer occurs in China. Hebei Province is one of the important covering nearly 6% of the population of China. The aim of this paper was to explore liver cancer mortality trends during past 30 years, and provide basic information on prevention strategies. Methods: Hebei was covered covered all the three national surveys during 1973-1975, 1990-1992, and 2004-2005 and one provincial survey during 1984-1986. Subjects included all cases dying from liver cancer in Hebei Province. Liver cancer mortality trend and geographic differences across cities and counties were analyzed. Results: There were 82,878 deaths in Hebei Province during 2004-2005 with an average mortality rate was 600.9/10,000, and an age-adjusted rate of 552.3/10,000. Those dying of cancer were 18,424 cases, accounting for 22.2% of all deaths, second only to cerebrovascular disease as a cause of death. Cancer mortality was 133.6/100,000 (age-adjusted rate was 119.2/100,000). Liver cancer ranked fourth in this survey with a mortality rate of 21.0/100,000, 28.4/100,000 in males and 13.35/10,000 in females, accounting for 15.7%, 17.1% and 13.4% of the total number of cancer deaths and in males and females, respectively. The sex ratio was 2.13. Since the 1970s, liver cancer deaths of Hebei province have been increasing slightly. The crude mortality rates in the four surveys were 11.3, 16.0, 17.4, 21.0 per 100,000, respectively, with age-adjusted rates fluctuating during the past 30 years, but the trend also being upwards. There is a tendency for the mortality rates to be higher in coastal than mountain areas, and is relative lower in the plain area, with crude mortality rates of 25.3, 22.1, and 19.1 per 100,000, respectively. There were no notable differences in cride data between urban and rural, but the age-adjusted mortality rate in rural was much higher. Conclusion: Our study indicated that the mortality of liver cancer in Hebei Province is lower than the national average level. There is a slightly increase trend, especially in some counties. Liver cancer is a major health problem and it is necessary to further promote prevention strategies in Hebei province.

        Comparison of Lisianthus (Eustoma grandiflorum) Cultivars Based on the Selected Regeneration Media Using Anther Culture

        Double haploids in lisianthus cultivars were produced using anther culture. The anther of ‘Art Peach’ wascultured on the Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium with 3% sucrose with auxin and cytokinin. The highest frequencyof calli developed from anthers (100%) and green plantlets per 100 calli (60 regenerants) was observed on the mediumcontaining 8 mg・L-1 N6-benzyladenine (BA) and 0.1 mg・L-1 naphthaleneacetic acids (NAA). When anthers were culturedon the medium supplemented with 2 mg・L-1 BA and 0.5 mg・L-1 NAA, 33.3% of calli formed plantlets. Using theanther culture, callus induction and plantlets regeneration in five cultivars were developed differently, suggesting thatthe genotype might predetermined anther culture response. These results indicate that a highly efficient new microprogationtechnique can be provided by anther culture in vitro for lisianthus. Anther culture in vitro can provide a highly efficientnew microprogation technique for lisianthus.

        Growth Performance and Post-Weaning Diarrhea in Piglets Fed a Diet Supplemented with Probiotic Complexes

        Weaning stress can affect the growth performance and intestinal health of piglets. Dietary alternatives to antibiotics, such as dietary probiotics, especially those containing multiple microbial species, are a preventive strategy for effectively controlling post-weaning diarrhea. In this study, we investigated forty-eight crossbred piglets in three treatment groups for 21 days: the control and experimental groups were supplemented with Enterococcus faecium DSM 7134, Bacillus subtilis AS1.836 plus Saccharomyces cerevisiae ATCC 28338 (EBS) or Lactobacillus paracasei L9 CGMCC No. 9800 (EBL). On day 21, weaned piglets supplemented with two kinds of probiotic complexes showed increased growth performance and significantly reduced postweaning diarrhea (p < 0.05). The EBS treatment increased acetic acid and propionic acid in the feces (p < 0.05), and the EBL treatment increased fecal acetic acid, propionic acid, butyrate and valerate (p < 0.05). Moreover, the fecal microbiota of the piglets changed markedly in EBL treatment. The addition of EBS and EBL may have similar effects on the prevention of diarrhea by improving the intestinal morphology and regulating the microbiota during the weaning period.

        A New Dual-Active Soft-Switching Converter for an MTEM Electromagnetic Transmitter

        In this study, a new dual-active soft-switching converter is proposed to improve conversion efficiency and extend the load range for an MTEM electromagnetic transmitter in geological exploration. Unlike a conventional DC/DC converter, the proposed converter can operate in passive soft-switching, single-active soft-switching, or dual-active soft-switching modes depending on the change in load power. The main switches and lagging auxiliary switches of the converter can attain soft-switching over the entire load range. The conduction and switching losses are greatly reduced compared with those of ordinary converters under the action of the cut-off diodes and auxiliary windings coupled to the main transformer in the auxiliary circuits. The conversion efficiency of the proposed converter is significantly improved, especially under light-load conditions. First, the working principle of the proposed converter is analyzed in detail. Second, the relationship between the different operating modes and the load power is given and the design principle of the auxiliary circuit is presented. Finally, the Saber simulation and experimental results verify the feasibility and validity of the converter and a 50 kW prototype is implemented.

        Experimental and Theoretical Study on High Strength Steel Extended Endplate Connections After Fire

        In order to reveal more information and better understanding on the behavior and failure mechanisms of high strength steel (HSS) extended endplate connections at ambient temperature and after fi re, an experimental and theoretical study has been conducted and presented in this paper. The provisions of Eurocode 3 are verifi ed with the test results. Because strength of bolts decreases more rapidly than that of structural steels, failure modes of endplate connections may change after fi re. Hence, a series of equations are proposed to predict failure modes of endplate connections after fi re. Furthermore, FE simulations which can predicate the performance of HSS extended endplate connections with reasonable accuracy are adopted to study the behaviors of the connections after cooling down from various fi re temperatures and to validate the accuracy of the proposed equations. Moreover, a parametric study is carried out to explore an optimization design method. It is found that the current provisions of EC3 can justifi ably predict failure modes and plastic fl exural resistances of HSS extended endplate connections both at ambient temperature and cooling down from 550 °C, but it is not the case for their initial rotational stiff - ness and rotation capacity. In order to avoid brittle failure mode of endplate connections after fi re, appropriately increasing the diameter or grade of bolts in the design is suggested. What is more, the match of steel grade and thickness of column fl ange and endplate as well as beam should be considered in the optimization design of beam-column endplate connections.
