High photonic effect of organic dye degradation by CdSe–graphene–TiO2 particles

Trisha Ghosh,오원춘,조광윤,Kefayat Ullah,Vikram Nikam,박종연,Ze-Da Meng 한국공업화학회 2013 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.19 No.3

Photocatalytic activity of CdSe (cadmium selenide) decorated graphene composites coupled with TiO2(titanium oxide) was investigated with organic dye solutions. The characterizations of composites were studied by X-ray diffraction (XRD), energy dispersive X-ray (EDX), scanning electron microscope (SEM),and with transmission electron microscope (TEM). The degradation of methyl orange (MO) and rhodamine B (RhB) was observed by measuring the decrease in the concentration by UV spectrophotometer. The synergistic effect of graphene on CdSe and TiO2 was demonstrated by comparative study. The composites were tested for recyclability, investigating the stability of CdSe–graphene/TiO2 composites.

      • Visual and Haptic Experience: Pips Journey with Fatherly Figures in Dickenss Great Expectations

Trisha Jannatul Ferdous 새한영어영문학회 2022 새한영어영문학회 학술발표회 논문집 Vol.2022 No.5

Vision has always been a robust means of communication. Not different is haptic touch. In nineteenth-century literature, these senses have been used to convey inner thoughts. By using these senses as a means of communication, Charles Dickenss novels show the importance of non-verbal communication as a powerful source. In Great Expectations, Pip uses his perception to understand others. So this paper aims to focus on the relationship of Pip with Joe, one of his fatherly figures focusing on the visual and haptic encounter they have in the novel, Great Expectations. Moreover, this paper will focus on how Pips sense of self is significantly affected by the sense of touch and sight. Pip observes the touch and the look in Joes eyes and keeps on visualizing the touch and the action. He keeps on imagining. Sometimes Pip tries to understand the meaning of touch and sight of his fatherly figure as if Pip were reading his mind of Joe. To explore more, this study will use various aspects of the sense of vision which includes both physical and mental imagination and sense of touch used throughout the novel.

Effect of Carbohydrate Ingestion on Blood Glucose Concentration and Women’s Gymnastics Performance

( Trisha Rebrovich ),( Gary Babjack ),( Yomee Lee ),( James F. Hokanson ) 한국체육학회 2017 International journal of human movement science Vol.11 No.1

The intent of this study was to report the effect of carbohydrate (CHO) ingestion during a women’s collegiate gymnastics competition on: 1) Blood glucose concentration; 2) Post-competition respiratory exchange ratio; 3) Gymnastics performance score. Thirteen college division three (D III) gymnasts volunteered to participate in a two-trial (placebo and CHO supplement) within-subjects study involving the ingestion of 120 ml of a 6.5% CHO solution and a placebo matched for volume, electrolyte content, color and flavor at 20-minute intervals during pre-season competition. Resting and recovery oxygen consumption (VO2), and respiratory exchange ratio (R-value) were measured using Douglas bag technique. Oxygen consumption was significantly greater during recovery, yet independent of drink. Blood glucose was measured at six time points with fingertip venous blood sample and an Ascensia Contour Monitor. Rate of increase blood glucose was greater with CHO supplementation. Blood glucose was 19% greater in the second and third interval and 21% greater in the fourth interval with CHO. Competition scores were not significantly different between condition, although average floor score was 0.30 better in the carbohydrate (9.17 ± 0.46) than placebo (8.87 ± 0.73) trial. This difference was close to significance (t = 2.035, df = 8, p = .076).

Anti-Hyperglycemia Properties of Tea (Camellia sinensis) Bioactives Using In Vitro Assay Models and Influence of Extraction Time

        Chandrakant Ankolekar,Trisha Terry,Kevin Johnson,David Johnson,Ana Christina Lopez Barbosa,Kalidas Shetty 한국식품영양과학회 2011 Journal of medicinal food Vol.14 No.10

Tea (Camellia sinensis) has well-known health benefits, which are attributed to its polyphenolic metabolites. This research explored the potential of regular tea consumption and influence of extraction time typically used in daily consumption of tea, as a therapeutic dietary support for potential management of early stage type 2 diabetes using in vitro assay models. Extraction times of 2 and 5 minutes were compared. The 5-minute extraction time had significantly higher total phenolic content compared with the 2-minute extraction time. Choice Darjeeling 5-minute extraction yielded the highest amount of total phenolics (299.6±5.9 mg/g), followed by Tazo Black 5-minute extraction (240±9.7 mg/g), whereas Bigelow Green 2-minute extraction had the lowest total phenolic content (53±8.2 mg/g). 1,1-Diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl scavenging-linked antioxidant activity was high (81–91%) for all types evaluated, and for most samples it was influenced by the extraction time. Similarly, high in vitro α-glucosidase inhibition was observed in almost all the samples assayed, and for most samples the 5-minute extraction had significantly higher inhibition compared with the 2-minute extraction time. The most fermented teas showed highest α-amylase inhibition: Choice Darjeeling 5-minute extraction had the highest inhibition (84.1%), followed by Tazo Black 5-minute extraction (71.6%). Angiotensin converting enzyme inhibition was not observed in any sample. Overall, the 5-minute extraction time was found to have more relevance for potential benefits for managing hyperglycemia than the 2-minute procedure. This research suggests that tea offers an attractive potential strategy to regulate postprandial hyperglycemia toward an overall dietary support for type 2 diabetes management.

Preparation of CdS-AC/TiO_2 Composites Designed for a High Photonic Effect and their Photocatalytic Activity Under Visible Light

        박종연,최종근,Trisha Ghosh,,오원춘 한국세라믹학회 2011 한국세라믹학회지 Vol.48 No.5

In this study, CdS combined activated carbon/TiO_2 (CdS-AC/TiO_2) composites were prepared by a sol-gel method to improve the photocatalytic performance of TiO_2. These composites were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDX) and UV-vis analysis. The photocatalytic activities were examined by the degradation of methylene blue (MB) under visible light irradiation. The photodegradation rate of MB under visible light irradiation reached 90.1% in 120 min. The kinetics of MB degradation was plotted alongside the values calculated from the Langmuir-Hinshelwood equation. The 0.2 CAT sample showed the best photocatalytic activity, which might be due to an increase in the photo-absorption effect by activated carbon and the cooperative effect of CdS.

Continuous Glucose Monitoring in the Hospital

        M. Citlalli Perez-Guzman,Trisha Shang,Jennifer Y. Zhang,Donna Jornsay,David C. Klonoff 대한내분비학회 2021 Endocrinology and metabolism Vol.36 No.2

Continuous glucose monitors (CGMs) have suddenly become part of routine care in many hospitals. The coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19) pandemic has necessitated the use of new technologies and new processes to care for hospitalized patients, includingdiabetes patients. The use of CGMs to automatically and remotely supplement or replace assisted monitoring of blood glucose bybedside nurses can decrease: the amount of necessary nursing exposure to COVID-19 patients with diabetes; the amount of time required for obtaining blood glucose measurements, and the amount of personal protective equipment necessary for interacting withpatients during the blood glucose testing. The United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is now exercising enforcementdiscretion and not objecting to certain factory-calibrated CGMs being used in a hospital setting, both to facilitate patient care and toobtain performance data that can be used for future regulatory submissions. CGMs can be used in the hospital to decrease the frequency of fingerstick point of care capillary blood glucose testing, decrease hyperglycemic episodes, and decrease hypoglycemicepisodes. Most of the research on CGMs in the hospital has focused on their accuracy and only recently outcomes data has been reported. A hospital CGM program requires cooperation of physicians, bedside nurses, diabetes educators, and hospital administratorsto appropriately select and manage patients. Processes for collecting, reviewing, storing, and responding to CGM data must be established for such a program to be successful. CGM technology is advancing and we expect that CGMs will be increasingly used in thehospital for patients with diabetes.

Effect of AC and Cu_2O from Cu/Cu_2O-AC/TiO_2 Composite Catalysts on the Photocatalytic Degradation of MO Under Visible Light

        Ze-Da Meng,Trisha Ghosh,Lei Zhu,박종연,최종근,오원춘 한국세라믹학회 2011 한국세라믹학회지 Vol.48 No.6

Activity carbon (AC), Cu and Cu_2O modified TiO_2 composites (Cu/Cu_2O-AC/TiO_2) were prepared using a sol-gel method. The characteristics of the composites were evaluated using Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) surface area measurements, X-ray diffraction (XRD), energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) analysis and scanning electron microscope (SEM) analysis. A methyl orange (MO) solution under visible light irradiation was used to determine the photocatalytic activity. The degradation of MO was determined using UV/Vis spectrophotometry. Cu_2O, Cu and the cooperative effect of the AC increased the photo-bsorption effect, thus increasing in photocatalytic activity.

The Outcome and Safety of Re-challenge Lutetium-177 PSMA (177Lu-PSMA) Therapy with Low-Dose Docetaxel as a Radiosensitizer—a Promising Combination in Metastatic Castrate-Resistant Prostate Cancer (mCRPC): a Case Report

        Masha Maharaj,Lucille Heslop,Trisha Govender,Nisaar Korowlay,Aviral Singh,Partha Choudhary,Mike Sathekge 대한핵의학회 2021 핵의학 분자영상 Vol.55 No.3

Prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA)-directed radioligand therapy (PSMA-RLT) with lutetium-177 (177Lu-PSMA) has been used in metastatic castrate-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC), and retrospective data have shown this therapy to be favourably safe with attractive clinical responses. Re-challenge 177Lu-PSMA therapy in early responders has been shown to be safe and effective. We report the use of low-dose Taxol-based chemotherapy (modified dose 25 mg/m2 weekly × 6 weeks) as a radiosensitizer with re-challenge 177Lu-PSMA therapy (4 cycles). In a period of 3 years, the patient underwent a total of 8 cycles of 177Lu-PSMA with a cumulative dose of 51.8 GBq. All therapies were uneventful and well tolerated. There was a good response to re-challenge 177Lu-PSMA therapy and low-dose docetaxel (Taxol-177Lu-PSMA) with no recorded tumour resistance.
