Nurses' management of older patients with post-anesthesia delirium: A Q methodology approach

        Kang,Minyeong(Minyeong Kang),Kim,Eun Young(Eun Young Kim),Chang,Sung Ok(Sung Ok Chang) 한국노인간호학회 2022 노인간호학회지 Vol.24 No.4

Purpose: This is an analysis of the experiences of nurses in Post Anesthesia Care Units (PACUs) in caring for older patients with emergence delirium using the Q-methodology. Methods: The Q-methodology, which is used to explore and understand human subjectivity, was applied. Thirty nurses who had experiences in providing nursing for delirium in older patients after surgery in a PACU participated in this study. Results: This study revealed three factors regarding the frame of reference of PACU nurses in detecting and managing older patients' emergence delirium: “detect the deviant changes leading to instability”, “focus on the patient’s degree of cognitive recovery within the framework of recovery time”, and “awareness of possible clues based on the patient’s underlying disease(s)”. Conclusion: These findings are expected to be utilized as a basis for more practical and accessible PACU nurse delirium education that reflects nurses’ subjective viewpoints explained by the three identified factors.

        노예제 담론과 여성의 글쓰기

        강옥선,김봉광,이상우,홍옥숙 새한영어영문학회 2006 새한영어영문학 Vol.48 No.4

This study aims at examining the anti-slavery discourse written by the early 19th-century women writers. Based on their own moral sensibility and Christian belief of non-Anglican Church, these early romantic women writers strongly advocated abolitionism and were involved in anti- slavery activities, such as writing pamphlets and joining anti-slavery groups. However, their writings have been ignored for a long time, overpowered by 'major' male writers of Romanticism. Thus this study tries to shed light on these women writers and discuss their importance in the literary history. The study will discuss why the anti-slavery discourse was an important issue among the women writers. In the late 18th century, women were beginning to recognize their inferior social status and naturally identified themselves with the slaves. The French Revolution which emphasized equality of humankind had strong impact on them. Mary Wollstonecraft and Helen Maria Williams experienced the Revolution in France and put their experiences into the writing advocating the rights of women and the socially weak people. Based on their religious belief, Hannah More and Ann Yearsley wrote poems attacking the slave trade. Their naive attitude toward Christianity, which tacitly approved slavery in spite of its belief in the equality of human beings, may be problematic. Their poems are significant, however, as an official beginning of antislavery discourse by women. Women poets' attack upon the slavery and advocation of the oppressed is further developed by poets such as Anna Barbauld, Helen Maria Williams and Amelia Opie. On the other hand, Harriet Martineau wrote an anti-slavery novel "Demerara." As a popular pamphlet writer of the time, Martineau was influential in the antislavery movement of the United States. "Demerara," written as a part of John Stuart Mill's Illustrations of Political Economy contains a scientific and systematic criticism of slavery. "Demerara"puts the colonized West Indies into the foreground of the novel and enlists the reasons the slavery should be abolished. In addition to the touching story of the hardships of a slave family, she analyzes the disadvantages of slavery in terms of political economy. Romantic women writers' anti-slavery writing ranging from poems to novel contains a distinctive voice different from that of male writers. Recognizing their social status inferior to men's, these women writers sought to correct the discrimination against them. Their concern about the socially oppressed people can be understood in this context. Though silenced as a radical voice and ignored as minor writers for a long time, women writers of the 19th century should be reilluminated from the postcolonial viewpoint. They provide valuable assets to Romanticism as a newly found voice resisting the social ills and upholding the silent others in society.

        강승훈,채옥삼 경희대학교 산학협력기술연구원 1999 산학협력기술연구논문집 Vol.5 No.-

In this paper, we propose a segmentation method to extract Korean characters from the image taken by a video camera under the uncontrolled industrial environment. Unlike the input data obtained through the image scanner, the camera image contains various background features including shades caused by background objects and background picture. Thus, it is almost impossible to extract the characters from the camera image by using the global threshold algorithm typically used in most of the Korean character recognition algorithms developed so far. To solve this problem, we propose a method consisting of the gradient direction based stroke candidate detection and the stroke expansion. The test results show that the proposed algorithm can reliably extract the Korean characters under the various input conditions. It also shows that the development of a Korean character recognition system for industrial environment is possible.

      • 블레이크의 초기시의 나타난 어린아이의 공격의 이미지

        강옥선 東西大學校 1997 동서논문집 Vol.3 No.1

In Blake's earlier poetry, Songs of Innocence and Experience, a prevalent image is that of children who are suffering at the hands of their parents. Children are usually represented as being lost, treated with cruelty, or being suppressed sexually in the Songs of Innocence and Experience. Blake's poetry is vivid in probing into the image of children which influences every aspect of human relationships. Blake's earlier poetry reveals the childhood aggression by exploring the essences of human nature vividly. There are two interwined topics in Blake" the spiritual disintegration of humanity, and the forces within the family relationships that produce aggression and cruelty. Whether as parent, child, or consort, the conflict of males and females is the dominant interest. In the Songs of Innocence and Experience and, indeed, throughout his work, the remotifs are the psychological tensions of the parent and child relationship. The children's aggression is toward their mothers more than toward their fathers. It can not be forgiven for the children to be rejected by their mother in providing nourishment. Fundamental biological ties with the mother are closer than those with the father, and their loss is therefore a source of more profound bitterness. The notable thing in Blake's earlier poetry is the converted image of children who send their destructive fury back to the parent to punish the parent in the Songs of Innocence and Experience. Therefore, both parents are regarded as a source of pain and are the object of the children's aggression. It is, however the mother who remains as the most prominant tormentor. I believe this is why Blake has his negative view of women in his epics.

      • 낭만주의 여성 시인의 사회의식 : 에밀리어 오피의 시를 중심으로 Focusing on The Poems of Amelia Opie

        강옥선 새한영어영문학회 2002 새한영어영문학 Vol.44 No.2

The works of women poets in English Romantic criticism have been dismissed as unimportant because they failed to conform to the paradigms defined by those of canonical male poets. However, recent interest in women writers has seen an increase in critical essays or the achievements of female poets. Women's poems are considered to have different poetic values compared with the canonized texts written by male poets. Several women poets of the Romantic Period (1780 1830) were engaged in contemporary social and moral issues alongside with the French Revolution. They tried to represent their social awareness through, for example, anti-slavery poems that attempted to show the similarities between the oppression of slaves and that of women. Amelia Opie (1769-1853) was aware of the plight of African slaves in the British colonies at the beginning of the 19th century. Opie, a Quaker, vehemently opposed the slaved trade, campaigning actively for its abolition. Her first influential abolitionist poem was "The Negro Boy's Tale", in 1802, which, five years later, helped reinforce the final Abolition Bill in British Parliament; and her second "The Black Man's Lament", in 1826, which anticipated The Great Emancipation Act of 1833 and followed the creation the of the Anti-Slavery Society in 1823. Opie's effective poetic strategy, of the active first person voice of a slave, successfully reminds readers of the true nature of slavery in "The Negro Boy's Tale". Opie portrays the complex nature of the slavery question through the characters' dialogue. In "The Black Man's Lament", Opie, again, skillfully positions the reader to witness the tragedy of becoming a slave, through the juxtapostion of 3rd and 1st person narratives, aptly allowing readers to enter into the slavery debate as an active participant. Opie's poems legitimize her conscious involvement concerning the abolition of slavery. If we are to comprehend the full range of English Romanticism, then, it is necessary for us to recognize the poetic value of women poets like Amelia Opie.

      • DMPT(dimethy1-β-propiothetin)첨가 급이가 참돔 근육의 화학성분에 미치는 영향

A eight weeks feeding experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of different dietary dimethyl-β-propiothetin(DMPT) levels on growth and body composition in red sea bream(Pagrus major). Body weight gain, feel efficiency and feed intake were significantly increased with dietary DMPT level. After eight weeks of feeding trial, moisture content decreased with supplemented DMPT level, while crude protein and lipid contents increased with dietary DMPT level. Amino acid composition of muscle in fish fed the diets supplemented DMPT was not different to that of control group. Fatty acid contents of muscle in fish increased with dietary DMPT level.

      • 윌리엄 블레이크의 시에 나타난 아버지와 아들의 갈등 연구 : 「언덕을 가로지르는 행복감」을 중심으로 Focusing on "With Happiness Stretch'd across The Hills"

강옥선 東西大學校 1998 동서논문집 Vol.4 No.-

The purpose of this paper is to study the father-son condlict in William Blake's poetry. "With Happiness STretch'd across The Hills" is his rare biographical poem contained in his letters dated November 22, 1802. This poem and his letters are valuable in exploring Blake's family relationships. Blake's deep involvement with the struggle with his father originates in his personal crisis. Since the death of Blake's father in 1784, Blake suffered his crisis both psychologically and financially for 20 years. The domination of his father over his emotional life iss revealed in his poems, especially "With Happiness Stretch'd acorss The Hills." My focus is to examine psychologically the Hayley-Blake conflict through analysing "With Happiness Stretch'd across The Hills." Blake's letters from 1800 through 1804 concerning Felpham lucidly reveals his personal emotional sturggle with Hayley in detail. Hayley is Blake's financial supporter during the Felpham period in 1800-1803. Hayley is depicted with a fatherly image who oppresses Blake's imaginative power as an independent poet. It is believed that Blake's return to London from Felpham is significant in symbolizing Blake's expression of escape from Hayley. At the end of this poem, Blake tries to escape from Hayley's influence and finally succeeds to achieve his poetic inspiration. Blake fights his way through an opperssive anguish to a new level of self-confidence and peace of mind. The father-son conflict theme in Blade's poems is an key to understanding the process of his poetic carreer toward aesthetic independence in the example of father-son reconciliation theme of his poem Milton.
