A Synthetic Naringenin Derivative, 5-Hydroxy-7,4′-diacetyloxyflavanone-<i>N</i>-phenyl Hydrazone (N101-43), Induces Apoptosis through Up-regulation of Fas/FasL Expression and Inhibition of PI3K/Akt Signaling Pathways in Non-Small-Cell Lung Cancer Cells

<P>Naringenin, a well-known naturally occurring flavonone, demonstrates cytotoxicity in a variety of human cancer cell lines; its inhibitory effects on tumor growth have spurred interest in its therapeutic application. In this study, naringenin was derivatized to produce more effective small-molecule inhibitors of cancer cell proliferation, and the anticancer effects of its derivative, 5-hydroxy-7,4′-diacetyloxyflavanone-<I>N</I>-phenyl hydrazone (N101-43), in non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cell lines NCI-H460, A549, and NCI-H1299 were investigated. Naringenin itself possesses no cytotoxicity against lung cancer cells. In contrast, N101-43 inhibits proliferation of both NCI-H460 and A549 cell lines; this capacity is lost in p53-lacking NCI-H1299 cells. N101-43 induces apoptosis via sub-G<SUB>1</SUB> cell-cycle arrest in NCI-H460 and via G<SUB>0</SUB>/G<SUB>1</SUB> arrest in A549 cells. Expression of apoptosis and cell-cycle regulatory factors is altered: Cyclins A and D1 and phospho-pRb are down-regulated, but expression of CDK inhibitors such as p21, p27, and p53 is enhanced by N101-43 treatment; N101-43 also increases expression levels of the extrinsic death receptor Fas and its binding partner FasL. Furthermore, N101-43 treatment diminishes levels of cell survival factors such as PI3K and p-Akt dose-dependently, and N101-43 additionally induces cleavage of the pro-apoptotic factors caspase-3, caspase-8, and poly ADP-ribose polymerase (PARP). Cumulatively, these investigations show that the naringenin derivative N101-43 induces apoptosis via up-regulation of Fas/FasL expression, activation of caspase cascades, and inhibition of PI3K/Akt survival signaling pathways in NCI-H460 and A549 cells. In conclusion, these data indicate that N101-43 may have potential as an anticancer agent in NSCLC.</P>

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of physical self-concept and school life satisfaction of middle School students participating in sports clubs. To achieve this purpose, male and female middle school students participating in sports clubs in the C area in 2015 using a convenience sampling method were aimed to collect data. The data was subjected to factor analysis, reliability analysis and correlation and regression analysis using the SPSS 19.0 program, The results are as follows. First, the fitness had significant influence among physical self-concepts of the sub-factors on satisfaction school life satisfaction, teacher relationships, and physical behavior. Secondly, the flexibility, of the sub-factors among physical self-concepts of sub-factors had significant influence on the subordinate relationship between teachers which is the sub-factors of school life satisfaction. Third, the health, and appearance, among physical self-concepts of sub-factors had significant influence on the physical environment of sub-factors of the school life satisfaction.

The Establishment of the International Financial Center (IFC) in Jeju Free International City

Purpose: Jeju Free International City is growing around the tourism industry. However, for Jeju Free International City to grow in line with the concept of free international city, it is necessary to move away from the current industrial structure that is focused on the tourism industry. It is necessary to reorganize the industrial structure centered on the financial industry in the long term, and for this, it is necessary to develop interest and fostering the financial industry within Jeju Special Self-Governing Province. This study intends to reconsider the necessity through the academic approach to fostering the financial industry in Jeju Free International City, which has been planned from the policy perspective. To this end, this study empirically analyzed the factors necessary to build the foundation for fostering the financial industry in Jeju Free International City. The purpose of this study is to examine the necessity for the establishment of an international financial center in Jeju and to derive the necessity for each factor through analysis of sub-factors necessary for the establishment of an international financial center in Jeju. Research design, data and methodology: This study carried out IPMA for analysis of components for fostering the financial industry. Through IPMA, this study identified priorities for the need for configuration factors and sub-factors. In addition, the thesis further performed a cross-group comparison. Result: The analysis confirmed that the factors in the living environment are the highest priority. It also confirmed that the priority of institutional policy factors and infra-facility factors is high. This study found that financial and non-financial employees differed in the priorities of factors in the comparison analysis between groups. This study also confirmed that Jeju residents and non-Jeju residents have distinct differences in the priorities of factors. Conclusion: Through this study, factors necessary for Jeju Free International City were identified. In addition, it was confirmed that there was a clear difference between the factors necessary for Jeju residents and non-Jeju residents. In the future, it is necessary to seriously consider these differences in the decision on whether to introduce, how to introduce, and priorities in the introduction of international financial center.

<P>Nanoelectromechanical (NEM) switches have received widespread attention as promising candidates in the drive to surmount the physical limitations currently faced by complementary metal oxide semiconductor technology. The NEM switch has demonstrated superior characteristics including quasi-zero leakage behaviour, excellent density capability and operation in harsh environments. However, an unacceptably high operating voltage (4-20 V) has posed a major obstacle in the practical use of the NEM switch in low-power integrated circuits. To utilize the NEM switch widely as a core device component in ultralow power applications, the operation voltage needs to be reduced to 1 V or below. However, sub-1 V actuation has not yet been demonstrated because of fabrication difficulties and irreversible switching failure caused by surface adhesion. Here, we report the sub-1 V operation of a NEM switch through the introduction of a novel pipe clip device structure and an effective air gap fabrication technique. This achievement is primarily attributed to the incorporation of a 4-nm-thick air gap, which is the smallest reported so far for a NEM switch generated using a 'top-down' approach. Our structure and process can potentially be utilized in various nanogap-related applications, including NEM switch-based ultralow-power integrated circuits, NEM resonators, nanogap electrodes for scientific research and sensors.</P>

Inkjet‐Printable Nanoporous Ag Disk Arrays Enabling Coffee‐Ring Effect‐Driven Analyte Enrichment Towards Practical SERS Applications

To make surface enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) sensors more practical, we propose nanoporous Ag disks as SERSactive plasmonic structures that can be readily inkjet-printed just before use to avoid degradation of SERS enhancement. Together with the aid of the enhanced plasmonic fi elds from the nanoporous Ag (confirmed by electromagnetic simulation), we utilize a coffee-ring effect to concentrate target analytes, which is demonstrated by confocal Raman measurements. By using the proposed SERS sensor, Raman signals of TiO 2 nanoparticles with a concentration of ppm to sub-ppb have been successfully measured. TiO 2 in commercial consumables has been also detected by distinguishing its crystalline phase.

This article focuses on two aspects. First, it introduces and examines Bohme``s Aisthetik theory. Second, it defines an application plan for its integration into the aesthetics of the performing arts. The first point is examinedin relation to four sub-topics. First, the study considers the appearance of Aisthetik as a new form of aesthetics in the 20th century. The driving forces behind the appearance of Aisthetik were environmental problems, the aestheticization of daily life, and a new definition of the arts. Second, the study explains the perception of Aisthetik asa sense of bodily existence. Third, it evokes a general perception method that is not based on individual senses but on special perceptual functions. Fourth, it presents atmospheric perception as one of the basic ideas of the Aisthetik theory. The atmosphereis experienced through two kinds of affective senses. One is the presence of objects, and the other the unique presence of oneself. The second part of the study focuses on the co-presence, materiality, and generation of meanings within the Aisthetik framework. Those areimportant terms in performative aesthetics studies and in Aisthetik. In particular, the study states that the perceptional process of spectators does not receive delivered meanings but generates its own. The study of the Theatre Aisthetik in this article is based on the vision of performative aesthetics as animportant aesthetic discourse in the contemporary performing arts. This study shows that Theatre Aisthetik should be part of the development of the contemporary performing arts aesthetics. The paper hopes to encourage active discussions and a keen interest in the Theatre Aisthetik.

급성 충수돌기염 의증 환자의 진단에서 컴퓨터 단층촬영과 초음파검사의 비교 분석

Background: This study was conducted to compare the accuracy of computered tomography(CT) and sonography(US) in diagnosing acute appendicitis and to analyze the radiologic factors which influence the result. Methods: We retrospectively studied the cases of 53 patients who were suspected of having appendicitis and who were examined by CT and US covered a three-year period. The final diagnosis was determined from the surgico-pathologic diagnosis and clinical follow-up for two months, as well as from the discharge diagnosis. Results: Thirty-eight(38) patients had acute appendicitis; 15 patients did not. In the analysis, CT and US, respectively, revealed sensitivities of 89.5% and 73.7%, specificities of 93.3% and 60.0%, positive predictive values of 97.1% and 82.4%, negative predictive values of 77.8% and 47.4%. Among patients diagnosed with acute appendicitis, 10 patients were discordant in the US and the CT examinations; CT findings were correct in 8 and US findings in 2. Among non-appendicitis patients, 5 patients were discordant in the US and the CT examinations; CT was correct in 5 and US in 0. Nighteen(19) patients had complications such as an abscess or a perforation. Among these patients, the degree and the extent of the complication were accurately evaluated by CT in 15 patients and by US in 5 patients. Conclusion: CT is more accurate than US in diagnosing and excluding acute appendicitis. The use of CT will substantially decrease unnecessary laparotomies and post-operation complications.

Clybourne Park에 나타난 이웃과 사유재산권 문제

로레인 한즈베리의 『태양 아래 건포도』를 다시 상상한 브루스 노리스의 『클라이본 파크』에 나타난 신자유주의적인 입장, 즉 백인들은 자신들이 원하는 이웃을 가질 권리와 자신들의 주택 가격을 지킬 권리를 가지며 이 권리는 존중받아야 한다는 입장에 대해서 고찰해보고자 한다. 흑인인 영거 가족이 백인 동네인 교외주택가 클라이본 파크로 이사하려 할 때 백인 주민들의 입장을 대표한 칼 린드너의 주장을 역사적인 맥락에서 다른 인물들의 주장과 비교분석함으로써 사적 재산권과 이웃 그리고 도시재생과 인종이라는 문제에 녹아있는 사회적이고 경제적인 측면을 구체적으로 살펴본다. 우선 연극의 1막과 2막이 거울처럼 서로를 비추는 가운데 이렇게 비추지 못하는 것에 대해서 살펴보고 이어서 사적 재산권과 원하는 이웃을 가질 권리라는 문제를 영토보호 정당방위법에 대한 논의와 연결하여 논한다. 이어지는 장에서 사적 재산권과 부동산 가격 하락을 막을 권리에 대해 논의하면서 흑인이 이주하면 동네가 몰락한다는 편견과 흑인에게 새로운 주택공급이 정상적으로 이루어지지 않은 역사적인 맥락에 대해 살펴본다. 이러한 바탕 위에서 브루스노리스가 클라이본 파크를 교외 주택가가 아니라 도심인근 주택가처럼 다루는 오류를 저질렀다고 주장하고 이어서 백인 부부가 흑인 동네의 집을 재건축하려는 시도를 흑인 부부가 반대하는 것을 역 인종차별주의라고 판단하기 어렵다고 주장한다. This paper examines a neoliberal standpoint in Bruce Norris’s Clybourne Park, a re-imagination of Lorraine Hansberry’s A Raisin in the Sun, from which he argues that white residents have the right to keep their own neighbors and their home prices as they want, and their rights should be respected. The arguments of Karl Lindner, who represents the white residents in Clybourne Park, a white suburban neighborhood, are compared with the claims of other characters in order to analyze the issues of private ownership, neighborhood, urban gentrification, and race in a historical and economic context. First, this paper investigates what is not clearly reflected on the mirror as the first and second acts of the play mirror each other, and then discuss the issue of private property rights in connection with discussions on the Stand Your Ground law. Second, this paper discusses the racial prejudice against African Americans’ move-in as the cause of the economic downfall of a suburban neighborhood. In addition, the historical context in which state-sponsored mortgage loans were scarcely provided to black citizens is examined. On this basis, it can be argued that Bruce Norris made an intentional mistake of treating Clybourne Park as an inner suburb near the city center rather than a suburban residential area. Finally, it can be concluded that to consider a black couple’s opposition to an attempt by a white couple to gentrify a black neighborhood as an example of reverse racism will result in obscuring the structural inequalities.

2,4-bis (p-hydroxyphenyl)-2-butenal (HPB242) induces apoptosis via modulating E7 expression and inhibition of PI3K/Akt pathway in SiHa human cervical cancer cells.

<P>The Maillard reaction is a chemical reaction occurring between an amino acid and a reducing sugar, usually requiring thermal processing. Maillard reaction products (MRPs) have antioxidant, antimutagenic, and antibacterial effects, and although 2,4-bis (p-hydroxyphenyl)-2-butenal (HPB242), a fructose-tyrosine MRP, appears to inhibit proliferation of cancer cells, its mechanism of action has not been studied in detail. We found that HPB242 treatment modulated expression of cyclins and tumor suppressor genes in SiHa human cervical cancer cell lines: cyclins and phospho-pRB were downregulated, whereas the expression of CDK inhibitors and p53 was enhanced. HPB242 induced apoptosis dose-dependently by suppressing E7 expression and leading to sub-G1 cell-cycle arrest in SiHa cell lines; treatment also led to the proteolytic cleavage of caspase-3, -9, and poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase. Moreover, HPB242 upregulated Fas expression, altered expressions of pro- and antiapoptotic factors, and also inhibited nuclear translocation of nuclear factor κB and phosphorylation of IκB. HPB242 treatment decreased phosphatidyl inositol-3 kinase and p-Akt expression levels, demonstrating that this survival pathway may also be inhibited by HPB242. Cumulatively, HPB242 promotes apoptosis by influencing E7 expression, inducing cell-cycle arrest at sub-G1 phase, and promoting both intrinsic (mitochondrial) and extrinsic (Fas-dependent) apoptosis in SiHa human cervical cancer cells.</P>

중학생 진로성숙 검사 개발 및 타당화 연구

본 연구는 연령별 진로성숙 수준에 적합한 도구를 개발하기 위해 중학생들을 대상으로 청소년들이 각 단계에서 주어지는 진로문제들에 대해 대처할 수 있는 준비도인 진로성숙을 측정하는 도구를 개발하고 타당화하는데 그 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 먼저, 진로성숙에 대한 이론적 고찰과 관련 도구 분석을 통해 진로성숙 구인을 개념화하고 이에 근거하여 중학생의 진로성숙을 측정하는 도구를 개발하였다. 둘째, crites의 CMI에 근거하여 본 연구의 진로성숙 연구모형을 개발하고 관련연구들을 토대로 형성된 경쟁모형을 제시하여 최적의 모형을 경험적으로 검증하여 진로성숙 구조모형을 타당화하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 공변량구조분석(AMOS)을 통해 적합도 지수를 확인하였다. 그 결과, 상대적합도 지수인 TLI ,CFI가 .90 이상으로, 절대적합도 지수 RMSEA는 .052로 본 연구모형(모형 Ⅰ)의 적합도 지수가 다른 경쟁모형의 적합도 지수보다 더 양호한 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는, 기존의 검사들의 단점을 보완하여 진로성숙 구인을 개념화하고 이에 근거한 연구모형을 개발 경험적으로 타당화 하였다는데 의의가 있다고 본다. 영재교육의 측면에서도 진로선택 및 결정은 중요한 과업으로 일반학생 뿐만 아니라 영재아들도 진로결정에 어려움을 겪고 있다고 보고된다. 그러므로 적용적 측면에서 일반학생들뿐만 아니라 영재아들의 정밀한 진로성숙도 측정을 통해 진로발달과 관련하여 그들이 가져야할 정의적, 인지적 발달에 대한 자료를 제시하여 진로문제와 생활지도면에서 합리적으로 적용될 수 있을 것으로 여겨진다. The purpose of this study is to 1)develop an Career Maturity scale for Korean middle-school students and 2)test construct validation through covariance structure analysis. In order to answer these purposes, we first reviewed related documents and inventories, as to research the constructed factors which to develop an Career Maturity scale, then defined the concept of Career Maturity and the theological constructive model. They were included in 2 components of attitude and cognitive abilities for career maturity accordingly in 6 sub-components. 172 middle school students were analysed at pilot test and 749 students were conducted final test. Based on factor analysis and item analysis, 94 items were selected to final test items. Second, to examine the best fit construct model for career maturity, we assumed conceptual model for career maturity, model Ⅰ, base on CMI model (Crites, 1978) and proposed competing models base on the related studies that included the other components(behavioral) for career maturity. As a result of covariance structure analysis(AMOS), we confirmed 3rd order construct model include 2 components was the best adequate through the indices of best fit(TLI,CFI>.90, RMSEA=.052). Career Maturity scale of this study developed andexamined can be applied future study for the gifted students who haven"t decidedtheir career decision because of their multi potentials and talents.
