3-L Model: A Model for Checking the Integrity Constraints of Mobile Databases

Hamidah Ibrahim,Zarina Dzolkhifli,Lilly Suriani Affendey,Praveen Madiraju 한국정보과학회 2009 Journal of Computing Science and Engineering Vol.3 No.4

In this paper we propose a model for checking integrity constraints of mobile databases called Three-Level (3-L) model, wherein the process of constraint checking to maintain the consistent state of mobile databases is realized at three different levels. Sufficient and complete tests proposed in the previous works together with the idea of caching relevant data items for checking the integrity constraints are adopted. This has improved the checking mechanism by preventing delays during the process of checking constraints and performing the update. Also, the 3-L model reduces the amount of data accessed given that much of the tasks are performed at the mobile host, and hence speeds up the checking process.

Analysis of Farmer Behavior Based on Farmer Characteristics, Economic Conditions, and Number of Family Members

HENDRAINI, Hamidah,SOEDARTO, Teguh Korea Distribution Science Association 2021 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.8 No.2

This study aims to analyze the influence of farmer characteristics, Ihsan attitude, economic conditions, and socio-cultural environmental support, and the number of family members on farmer behavior in meeting food needs in realizing household food security, with the role of the government as a moderator. This study is about the relationship between farmer behavior and their household food security. This research uses a quantitative research method involving 337 farmers from three villages located in three different sub-districts, namely Alang-alang village, Tragah sub-district, Mrecah village, Tanah Merah sub-district, and finally Gangsean village, Sepulu sub-district. The quantitative analysis approach consists of formulating problems, compiling models, obtaining data, finding solutions, testing solutions, analyzing results, and interpreting results. From the 7 hypotheses that were built, it was identified that there was 1 hypothesis that was not significant, namely the influence of the support of the socio-cultural environment on farmer behavior to meet the food needs of farmers' households. The attitude that is identified is still very rarely used in the context of agricultural human resources and at the same time is an inherent character of Madurese farmers which is an interesting part for researchers to study more deeply and become new or authentic in this research.

Factors Determining Adoption of Fintech Peer-to-Peer Lending Platform: An Empirical Study in Indonesia

Rudy SUNARDI,Hamidah HAMIDAH,Agung Dharmawan BUCHDADI,Dedi PURWANA 한국유통과학회 2022 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.9 No.1

Platform lending or online lending, sometimes called peer-to-peer (P2P) lending, arose due to the digital revolution to meet people’s requirements for simple fund borrowing. It quickly became an alternative to other traditional lending techniques, for example, loans banks. Along with the growth of P2P lending, several academics have investigated how information technology is used in financial services, emphasizing extended application methods. This study proposes an enhanced technology acceptance model (TAM) that investigates how consumers embrace P2P lending platforms by using quality of service and perceived risk as drivers of trust, relative advantage and compatibility as drivers of perceived usefulness. For the purpose of this study, we created a questionnaire, distributed it to clients of P2P lending platforms and fintech services in general in cities in Java, Indonesia. We received 290 replies to our questionnaire. The data was analyzed to test the hypotheses using structural equation modeling (SEM). The findings show that consumers’ trust, relative advantage, perceived usefulness, and perceived ease of use in P2P lending platforms substantially affect their views toward adoption. The research’s findings are useful for fine-tuning platform marketing strategies and putting strategic goals into action.

      • Influence of Low Growing Vegetation in Reducing Stormwater Runoff on Green Roofs

Krishnan, Raymond,Ahmad, Hamidah Council on Tall Building and Urban Habitat Korea 2014 International journal of high-rise buildings Vol.3 No.4

Green roof's performance in reducing stormwater runoff has been reported by numerous studies. Nonetheless, the roles of low growing vegetation in influencing stormwater runoff reduction on green roofs have been greatly overlooked. This paper describes an experiment investigating the influence of low growing vegetation in the reduction of tropical stormwater runoff on extensive green roofs. Three types of locally occurring native vegetation and one non-native Sedum species were selected (fern, herb, grass and succulent) for the experiment. Stormwater runoff reduction performance from different low growing species was done by measuring excess water runoff from the simulated green roof modules. The results show significant differences in stormwater runoff reduction from different types of vegetation. Fern was the most effective in reducing stormwater runoff, followed by herb, Sedum and grass. Vegetative characters that are found to attribute towards the performance of stormwater runoff are rooting density, structure, density, leaf type, and vegetation biomass.

Ambidextrous Innovation in Mediating Entrepreneurial Creativity on Firm Performance and Competitive Advantage

Eduard Alfian Syamsya SIJABAT,Umar NIMRAN,Hamidah Nayati UTAMI,Arik PRASETYA 한국유통과학회 2020 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.7 No.11

A new business venture faces intense competition in a dynamic environment. To survive, new business ventures and established companies both need to generate creativity and significant new ventures to be highly competitive and have high levels of performance. In this study, we examined new business ventures that determined their competitiveness and performance generated from entrepreneurial creativity and mediated by ambidextrous innovation. This research used survey data collected from 143 Indonesian’s new business shipping agencies, which was collected using an online survey and analyzed through structural equation modeling. The results showed that entrepreneurial creativity in new business ventures is positively associated with competitive advantage but not significant to create a competitive advantage. In contrast, entrepreneurial creativity is positively associated with firm performance. This result indicates that efforts to generate entrepreneurial creativity are not sufficient to create a competitive advantage despite having a significant influence on firm performance. However, entrepreneurial creativity is significantly and positively associated with firm performance and competitive advantage when mediated by ambidextrous innovation. The findings of this study suggest that the competitive advantage of a new business venture in facing intense competition in a dynamic environment condition can be overcome by generating strategic action in the form of entrepreneurial creativity and ambidextrous innovation.

The Impact of Ambidextrous Innovation on the Performance and Competitiveness of Start-up Companies: An Empirical Study from Indonesia

Eduard Alfian Syamsya SIJABAT,Umar NIMRAN,Hamidah Nayati UTAMI,Arik PRASETYA 한국유통과학회 2022 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.9 No.1

Established and new companies face similar business challenges in achieving performance and competitiveness. Furthermore, several empirical studies using competitive advantage resource-based view theory show that established companies achieve performance and competitiveness with breakthrough innovations. Similarly, new business ventures with limited resources must incorporate breakthrough innovations to achieve performance and competitiveness. Therefore, this study aimed to examine the impact of ambidextrous innovation on new venture performance and competitiveness. It used an online survey to collect data from 178 newly established shipping agency companies in 22 provinces in Indonesia. Data was analyzed using multivariate analysis with WarpPLS 7.0, where the analysis unit was an organization represented by a director. The results showed that ambidextrous innovation positively and significantly affects firm performance and new venture competitiveness. This means that ambidextrous innovation that emphasizes adaptation and development improves the firm’s internal business processes, even with limited resources. Moreover, it increases new ventures’ competitiveness in responding to threats and taking advantage of market opportunities. These results contribute to the competitive advantage resource-based view theory, specifically for new venture empirical examination. Also, they contribute to practical implications in the transportation business, demonstrating that exploitative breakthrough innovation can improve new venture competitiveness and performance.

The Potential Hazards of Aspergillus sp. in Foods and Feeds, and the Role of Biological Treatment: A Review

        Sheikh Imranudin Sheikh-Ali,Akil Ahmad,Siti-Hamidah Mohd-Setapar,Zainul Akmal Zakaria,Norfahana Abdul-Talib,Aidee Kamal Khamis,Md Enamul Hoque 한국미생물학회 2014 The journal of microbiology Vol.52 No.10

The contamination of food and feed by Aspergillus has becomea global issue with a significant worldwide economicimpact. The growth of Aspergillus is unfavourable to thedevelopment of food and feed industries, where the problemshappen mostly due to the presence of mycotoxins, which is atoxic metabolite secreted by most Aspergillus groups. Moreover, fungi can produce spores that cause diseases, such asallergies and asthma, especially to human beings. High temperature, high moisture, retarded crops, and poor food storageconditions encourage the growth of mold, as well asthe development of mycotoxins. A variety of chemical, biological, and physical strategies have been developed to controlthe production of mycotoxins. A biological approach, using a mixed culture comprised of Saccharomyces cerevisiaeand Lactobacillus rhamnosus resulted in the inhibition of thegrowth of fungi when inoculated into fermented food. Theresults reveal that the mixed culture has a higher potential(37.08%) to inhibit the growth of Aspergillus flavus (producerof Aflatoxin) compared to either single culture, L. rhamnosusNRRL B-442 and S. cerevisiae, which inhibit the growth by63.07% and 64.24%, respectively.
