Modeling and reliability analysis technique of telecommunications power system is proposed. The telecommunications power system can be modeled as a serial connection of two parallel redundant systems. One is a rectifier system, and another is AC system composed of both engine alternator and commercial source. The reliability analysis is performed for three distributed power systems. The analysis shows that two engine-alternators with reduced battery reserve can be used instead of the conventional one engine-alternator with three-hour battery reserve. This technique can also be applied to the reliability analyses of other DC uninterruptible power systems.
Elbow Reconstruction Using Island Flap for Burn Patients

Background Deep burns of the elbow lead to soft tissue necrosis and infection, with exposure of deep structures. Adequate wound coverage of this area requires thin, pliable, and durable tissue, while optimal functional recovery requires early coverage and functional rehabilitation. We have found 3 types of island flaps that provide reliable coverage for the elbow. Methods A retrospective study was performed on all patients who underwent flap coverage of an elbow defect at our hospital. The patients' data including age, sex, cause of injury, wound dimensions, timing of flap coverage, postoperative elbow motion, and complications were investigated. Results Between 2001 and 2012, 16 patients were treated at our hospital. The mean age was 53.3 years. Three kinds of flaps were performed: 9 latissimus dorsi flaps, 4 lateral arm flaps, and 4 radial forearm flaps. The average defect size was 183.5 $cm^2$ (range, 28 to 670 cm2). Wound coverage was performed at mean duration of 45.9 days (range, 14 to 91 days). The mean postoperative active elbow flexion was $98^{\circ}$ (range, $85^{\circ}$ to $115^{\circ}$). Partial flap failure occurred in 1 latissimus dorsi flap. Minor complications included partial flap loss (11.8%), hematoma (23.5%), seroma (35.3%), and wound infection (5.9%). Conclusions Flap selection for elbow reconstruction is determined by the defect size and the extent of the adjacent tissue injury. Elbow reconstruction using an island flap is a single-staged, reliable, and relatively simple procedure that permits initiation of early rehabilitation, thereby improving a patient's functional outcome.

본 연구의 목적은 초등학생의 학업성취에 영향을 미치는 자기조절학습 구성요인이 교과와 성별에 따라 차이가 있는지 알아보는 것이었다. 연구대상은 D광역시에 거주하는 초등학교 5학년 재학생 284명(남자151명, 여자 133명)이었다. 학생들에게 자기조절학습 검사를 실시하고 국어, 수학, 과학, 사회 교과의 학업성취도 점수를 확인하였다. 교과와 성별에 따라 학업성취에 영향을 미치는 자기조절학습 구성요인을 알아보기 위해 상관분석, t-검정, 단계적 중다회귀분석을 실시하였다. 연구 결과, 학업성취에 영향을 미치는 자기조절학습 구성요인은 교과에 따라 차이가 있었다. 특히 사회 교과는 다른 교과에서 나타나지 않은 숙달목표지향성, 계획 요인이 학업성취에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 학업성취에 있어서 남학생은 교과에 관계없이 동기조절 요인만이 영향을 미쳤지만, 여학생은 교과에 따라 자기조절학습 구성요인을 다양하게 잘 활용하는 것으로 나타났다. The purpose of this study was to identify the components of self-regulated learning effective for academic achievement of the elementary students in various subjects. Also the study examined the differences of the components between boys and girls. The subjects of the study were 284 (151 boys, 133 girls) 5the grade elementary students residing in D-Metropolitan city in Korea. The students were tested on the self-regulated learning test of Yang, Myong-Hee(2000). The subjects included were Korean language, mathematics, science and social studies. The students` achievement scores were collected from students` school files. The correlational analysis, t-tests and multiple regression analyses were conducted to identify significant components different among school subjects by genders. The results of the analyses showed that there were differences in the effective components of self-regulated learning significantly related to the achievement among school subjects. Especially for social studies, ``mastery goal orientation`` and ``planning`` component were accountable for the achievement scores. The results also indicated that girls utilized more various components effectively for each subject than boys who showed only the ``self-efficacy`` component significantly related to academic achievement regardless of the subjects.

Purpose :Granular cell tumour(GCT) is a rare benign tumour that can arise in anywhere throughout the body. Histopathological diagnosis of malignancy is difficult. We report a case of a granular cell tumor which developed on lower lip. Methods :A 58-year-old male had a palpable mass and whitish plaque in the oral mucosa for three months. Results :Under local anasthesia, the tumor was removed through wide excision including normal skin mar-gin. Immediate reconstruction using local flap was done. Pathologic observation showed nests of polygonal cells with abundant granular, eosinophilic cytoplasm and round nuclei. Immunohistopathologic staining showed posi-tive reaction on S-100 protein Conclusion :The results support the hypothesis that granular cell tumor is derived from Schwann cells. We report here on a case of granular cell tumor of lower lip that was successfully treated with radical resection.

Purpose: This study was performed to develop a lateral flow strip sensor for the detection of pathogenic Escherichia coli O157:H7 in various samples. Also, feasibility of using an image analysis method to improve the interpretation of the strip sensor was evaluated. Methods: The lateral flow strip sensor has been fabricated based on nitrocellulose lateral-flow membrane. Colloidal gold and E. coli O157:H7 antibodies were used as a tag and a receptor, respectively. Manually spotted E. coli O157:H7 antibody and anti-mouse antibody on nitrocellulose membrane were used as test and control dots,respectively. Feasibility of the lateral flow strip sensor to detect E. coli O157:H7 were evaluated with serially diluted E. coli O157:H7 cells in PBS or food samples. Test results of the lateral flow strip sensor were measured with an image analysis method. Results: The intensity of the test dot started to increase with higher concentration of the cells were introduced. The sensitivities of the sensor were both 104 CFU/mL Escherichia coli O157:H7 spiked in PBS and in chicken meat extract,respectively. Conclusions: The lateral flow strip sensor and image analysis method could detect E. coli O157:H7 in 20 min,which is significantly quicker than conventional plate counting method.
