Social service purchasing in China: Rationale, features, and risks
Natasha Cortis1,Qian Fang1,Zhenfang Dou2 한국사회복지학회 2018 Asian Social Work and Policy Review Vol.12 No.3
progressing an agenda of purchasing child welfare and other social services from the nongovernment sector, primarily to expand capacity and address vast unmet need. This paper draws on current research evidence to explore the approaches to purchasing emerging in China, examining the rationale for purchasing and models of supply, competition, and regulation. While some approaches are modeled on direct service contracting, direct purchasing of social service “posts” is also used, aimed at achieving goals of professionalization alongside service expansion. Overall, the review shows purchasing is helping to rapidly expand service scale and capacity; however, regulatory strategies for managing and mitigating risks to quality and access appear lacking. This highlights the need for further scholarship aimed at developing the robust risk management strategies which are required to support high quality, sustainable provision of purchased services.
Nanoscale coatings of AuAlx and PtAlx and their mesoporous elemental derivatives

A method to produce nanoscale lms of AuAlx and PtAlx, and their mesoporous elemental derivatives is described, and the morphol-ogy and optical properties of these coatings explored. The color of the AuAlx lm is bright purple, in agreement with ab initio calcula-2, but becomes black after de-alloying with NaOH. The lm of PtAlx issilver-grey and changes to grey after being converted to mesoporous Pt by de-alloying. Both mesoporous coatings exhibit a very roughsurface, with pores of between 2 and 20 nm in diameter, and display a signicantly more absorptive optical characteristic compared totheir ordinary elemental counterparts.

Central venous catheters are the most frequent causes of benign central vein stenosis. We report the case of a 79-yearold woman on hemodialysis through a twin catheter in the right internal jugular vein, presenting with superior vena cava (SVC) syndrome with patent SVC. The clinically driven endovascular therapy was conducted to treat the venous syndrome with a unilateral left brachiocephalic stent-graft without manipulation of the well-functioning catheter. The follow-up was uneventful until death 94 months later.
Design of nanocapacitors and associated materials challenges
S. Ramesh Ekanayake,Michael J. Ford,Michael B. Cortie 한국물리학회 2004 Current Applied Physics Vol.4 No.2-4
The International Technology Roadmap for Semiconductors (ITRS) projects that the spatial resolution of feature sizes inintegrated circuits is rapidly approaching nanoscopic dimensions. Consequently, there is an active interest in the design of nanoscalecircuit elements such as transistors, resistors, andcapacitors. The properties of materials used to fabricate capacitors pose animportant design factor, as with all circuit elements. We analyze the critical materials properties that would inuence engineeringnanocapacitors (nanoscopic capacitors), and show that at nanoscale, dielectric properties (dielectric constant, dielectric strength, and dielectric relaxation) determine the practicality of such capacitors.

The chapter 4 of Working Group I contribution to the IPCC Sixth Assessment Report assesses simulations of future global climate change, spanning time horizons from the near term (2021-2040),mid-term (2041-2060), and long term (2081-2100) out to the year 2300. The chapter assesses physical indicators of global climate change, such as global surface air temperature, global land precipitation, Arctic sea-ice area and global mean sea level. Furthermore, the chapter covers indices and patterns of properties and circulation not only for mean fields but also for modes of variability that have global significance. Changes are assessed relative to both the recent past (1995-2014) and the 1850-1900 approximation to the pre-industrial period. The projections assessed in the chapter are mainly based on a new range of scenarios, the Shared Socio-economic Pathways (SSPs) used in the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project Phase 6 (CMIP6). Additional lines of evidence enter the assessment, especially for change in globally averaged surface air temperature and global mean sea level, while assessment for changes in other quantities is mainly based on CMIP6 results. After section 4.2 on the methodologies used in the assessment, Section 4.3 assesses projected changes inkey global climate indicators throughout the 21st century. Section4.4. covers near-term climate change and Section 4.5 assesses mid-term andlong-term climate change. Section 4.6 addresses the climate implications of climate policies including patterns of climate change expected for various global warming levels, climate goals, overshoot, and path-dependence, as well as the climate response the climate response to mitigation, Carbon Dioxide Removal, and Solar Radiation Modification. Section 4.7 assesses very long-term changes up to 2300 and climate-change commitment and the potential for irreversibility and abrupt climate change. The chapter concludes with Section4.8 on the potential for low-probability-high-impact changes.

Invasive fungal diseases (IFDs) are a leading cause of infection-related-mortality after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT). In this prospective pilot study, we investigated the use of bedside lung ultrasound (US) in IFD management. Ten consecutive hematological patients, who developed pulmonary IFD after HSCT, were included in the study. Standard computed tomography scan and lung US were performed at IFD diagnosis and 10 days after antifungal treatment. The lung US demonstrated a high sensitivity in the detection of lung lesions at IFD diagnosis and in the follow-up examinations. It is of potential clinical relevance for IFD management in hematological patients.
