Bimal Subedi,Inchul Lee,Min Son,Bongki Shin,Chanwoo Seo,Jaye Koo 한국추진공학회 2013 한국추진공학회 학술대회논문집 Vol.2013 No.12
The atomization characteristics of doublet skewed impinging injectors with a like-on-like arrangement was investigated and compared in this paper for various angle of incident and skewness fraction at various Reynolds conditions using water as a simulant. In this study, the liquid sheet formed along with its variance with skewness factor were analysed using the methods of spray image photography. The graphical relationship between factor of skewness with Reynolds number and angle of spray was derived as the result.

Background : Pachyrhizus erosus (Leguminosae), locally called as “Yam bean” is a traditional medical plant that grows in the tropical and subtropical region. The root of P. erosus is used by the local people to treat insomania, treatment of osteoporosis and extracts of this plant have shown antioxidant activity, immunomodulatory activity, tyrosinase inhibitionby, antitumour properties and cardiovascular benefit. Methods and Results : Free radical scavenging activity was evaluated using α-tocopherol and butylated hydroxy toluene (BHT) as standard antioxidants. The radical scavenging activity was measured using the stable radical 1,1-diphenyl–2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) and ABTS assay. Total phenolic content was determined by following Folin-Ciocalteau colorimetric method and Total flavonoids were determined using aluminium chloride calorimetric methods. Phenolic compound concentration and compositions were determined by HPLC-MS/MS system. Seedlings grown under the flourescent light (Fl) exhibited the highest DPPH radical scavenging activity when compared to the plants treated with light emitting diodes (LEDs) and light emitting plasma (LEP). LED-Blue showed the higher DPPH radical scavenging activity and ABTS concentration of PE compared to other LEDs. The accumulation of phenolic compounds increased under different white-LEDs conditions as compared to LEP and FL light conditions. Conclusion : In this study, antioxidant activity and phenolic compound composition of P. erosus was improved by the application of LED and LEP.
Reliability study on skewness of doublet impinging injectors
Bimal Subedi,손민,장석필,구자예 대한기계학회 2017 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.31 No.5
The atomization characteristics of skewed like-on-like impinging injectors were studied using water as a simulant. The shadowgraph technique and Laser deflection analyzer were used to understand the variances in spray mode, breakup length, and spray angles with the fraction of skewness under different angles of impingement, pressure, and Weber number. The range of reliability of performance from the perspective of the manufacturer was determined through quantitative and qualitative analyses of atomization and spray characteristics. The three different modes of spray breakup were well mixed, reflective, and transmissive. The breakup length decreased with the increase in spray angle up to a certain fraction of skewness. The spray fan angle and SMD in skewed impinging injection were directly proportional to the fraction of skewness. A large fraction of skewness provided the spray sheet with a small droplet size at the center of the spray sheet and large droplet sizes with rising radial distances toward the edge of the sheet. This paper attempts to define the maximum allowable misalignment and basic reliability limit for the design and evaluation of performance of impinging injectors in terms of fraction of skewness. Values at the perfect impingement condition were used as references for the significant reduction in the manufacturing cost of impinging injectors.

Objectives The objective of our research was to establish the gene transformation, expression and characterization system in transgenic Codonopsis lanceolata. Materials and methods Agrobacterium tumefaciens strain LBA 4404/ binary vector pYBI121Regeneration of transgenic shoots: MS medium supplemented with 0.1 mg/ℓ NAA and 1 mg/ℓ BAP, 3% sucrose and 0.8% agar at pH 5.8. Agrobacterium cell density OD 600 between 0.8 and 1.0, Infection: 5 minutes DNA isolation and Polymerase chain reaction: DNA was extracted from young leafs excised from kanamycin resistant shoots. Two primers used for PCR amplification of the 700 bp of the npt II gene were N 1 (5′ GAA GCT ATT CGG CGG CTA TGA CTG 3′) as a sense primer and N 2 (5′ ATC GGG AGC GGC GGC GAT ACC CTA 3′) as a anti sense primer. Result and Discussion Adventitious shoots regenerated 3 weeks after Agrobacterium infection on regeneration medium containing 0.1 mg/ℓ NAA and 1 mg/ℓ BAP, 100 mg/ℓ kanamycin 250 mg/ℓ cefatoxime. Numerous adventitious shoot inductions of putative transformants were observed from the cut surface of explants which initially resembled knob like structure and later developed into new plant. PCR analysis of showed the expected bands of npt II gene. PCR analysis was carried out to confirm the insertion of the npt II gene in the genome of transformed plant. The expected amplified npt II fragments of size 700 bp was found in the T0 transformed plants, indicating the integration of npt II gene.
