BACKGROUND: It is known that impacts of climate change on damage occurrence by insect pests and diseases are increasing. The negative effects of climate change on production will threaten our food security. It is needed that on the basis of analysis of the impacts, proper strategies in response to climate change are developed. METHODS AND RESULTS: The objective of this paper is to estimate impacts of climate change on rice damage occurrence by insect pests and diseases, using the panal model which analyzes both cross-section data and time series data. The result of an analysis on impacts of climate change on rice damage occurrence by pest insect and disease showed that the damage occurrence by Rice leaf roller and Rice water weevil increased if temperature increased, and damage occurrence by Stripe, Sheath blight, and Leaf Blast increased if precipitation(or amount of sunshine) increased(or decreased). CONCLUSION: Adaptation strategies, supplying weather forecasting information by region, developing systematical strategies for prevention of damage occurrence by pest insect and disease, analyzing the factors of damage occurrence by unexpected pest insect and disease, enforcing international cooperation for prevention of damage occurrence are needed to minimize the impacts of damage occurrence on rice production.

The purpose of this paper is to present the policy implications in order to secure stable supply for new cash crops as an option responding to Climate Change. For this study we estimated what variables affect customer`s choice for the domestic mango consumption. We analyzed the factors of consumption intention for domestic mango by using the Ordered Probit Model with the results from survey on consumer`s purchase attitude and intention. The result shows some variables such as income, recognition of temperature increase, recognition of safety and contentment of quality to price are significant. Therefore it is required to develop a new variety of crops for climatic adaptation, a new cultivation technology, a strategy for marketing to higher-income consumers and considerations on safety issue in order to increase its consumption.

The purpose of this study is to analyze consumption of homemade organically processed food (HOPF), and to derive directions for consumption promotion of HOPF. A survey was conducted for quantitative analysis regarding consumption. This study used an Ordinal Logistic Regression Model to derive more significant results in analyzing factors of consumption. The findings was that younger consumers with high income are more likely to purchase HOPF. And those consumers with high price and quality contentment are more likely to purchase HOPF. And contentment with certification institutions and improvement of health have a significant positive relationship with consumption. Consumers were found to pay 51 percent more for HOPF than for non-HOPF products. This level show that the current level of price premium for HOPF is 51 percent higher than their desired level. In order to reduce the price premium for HOPF, effective policy programs should be developed. A targeted market strategy to sell HOPF to younger consumers with high income is needed to boost consumption. A strict certification management system should be established to enhance consumer reliability in HOPF.

The purposes of this study are to analyze the effect of consumption of environment-friendly agricultural products (EFAP) on improvement of family health, and to suggest directions for improvement of family health. A survey was conducted for qualitative analysis regarding relationship between EFAP consumption and family health. The method of his study was employed Cross-tabulation and an Ordinal Logistic Regression Model to derive more significant results in analyzing factors of improvement of family health. The result shows that improvement of health has a significant positive relationship with consumption of EFAP. In addition, those consumers with high reliability and quality contentment are more likely to experience improvement of health. As consumers constantly eat EFAP, they are more likely to experience improvement of health. In order to provide consumer reliability of EFAP, more strict certification management system with sound monitoring and an appropriate penalty for violation should be established.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the effects of abolishing the low-pesticide agricultural product certification on environmentally friendly farming. A survey was conducted to quantitatively analyze farming practices and factors that change farming practice. It was found that only 17.0% of low-pesticide fruit farmers said that they will change their farming practice into organic or pesticide-free farming. With regard to the factors of farming practice change, binomial logistic regression model was applied for the analysis. In the analysis, it was found that farmers who grow the low-pesticide agricultural product are more likely to change their farming practice into organic or pesticide-free farming, as their expected price of organic or pesticide-free products is high, their area size is small, price premium of low-pesticide agricultural product is low, the frequency of their training is high. It is necessary to enhance the direct payment system to enlarge organic and nonpesticide acreage, and pest management techniques for fruits should be developed for low-pesticide fruit farmers to change their practice into organic and nonpesticide practice. Dissemination of cultivation manual, introduction of insurance to farmers, improvement of certificate system, and advertising and marketing of environment-friendly agricultural products are useful to develop environment-friendly agriculture.

The purpose of this study is to systematically analyze the consumer purchasing behaviors and future consumption towards homemade organically processed food(HOPF), and to derive directions for consumption promotion of HOPF. To this end, a survey was conducted for quantitative analyses regarding consumer purchasing behaviors and future consumption. This study used Ordinal Logistic Regression Model to derive more significant results in analyzing factors of future consumption. The analytical results were used to derive policy directions aimed at boosting the HOPF consumption. The consumer survey was conducted for 503 housewives living in Seoul and Gyeonggi Provinces using online. Among the respondents(400 housewives who have purchased HOPF) those in their 30s amounted to 40(10.5 percent), followed by those in their 40s with 182(45.5 percent), and those in their 50s or above with 178(44.5 percent). From the income perspective, 52.0 percent of the respondents were 3million won to 4million won. Among the respondents(103 housewives who have not purchased HOPF) those in their 30s to 40s amounted to 70.9 percent. From the income perspective, 58.3 percent of the respondents were 3million won to 4million won. The consumer survey conducted regarding certification mark and additives sign has found that the majority of domestic consumers confirm those. In detail 72.8 percent of those responded said that “I confirm certification mark while buying HOPF.” And 67.8 percent of those responded said that “I confirm additives sign while buying HOPF.” In relation to the future consumption toward HOPF, the Ordinal Logistic Regression Model was applied for analysis. The findings was that the younger consumers with high income are more likely to purchase HOPF. And those consumers who recognize the price and quality contentment to be high are more likely to purchase HOPF. And the contentment of certification instrument and improvement of health have a significant plus relationship with future consumption. The consumer survey conducted regarding consumption promotion has found that price reduction, reliability improvement, and store expansion are needed to promote consumption. Consumers who have purchased HOPF were found to pay 51 percent more for it. This level show that the current level of price premium for HOPF is 51 percent higher than their desired level. The consumer survey conducted regarding improvement of health has found that 48.8 percent of those responded said that "HOPF is helpful to family health. In order to reduce price premium for the HOPF effective policy programs should be developed. The target market strategy to sell HOPF to the younger consumers with high income is needed to boost consumption. To expand consumption, it is necessary to strengthen promotional efforts. The strict certification management system should be established to enhance consumer reliability in the food.
