카페인은 널리 사용되고 있는 각성제로 수면에 미치는 효과가 많은 연구에서 보고되고 있다. 본 연구는 카페인 섭취로 인한 수면장애 실험동물에서 수면 촉진물질중의 하나인 GABA 함량의 변화를 시간적 경과와 용량에 따라 HPLC 분석 방법을 이용하여 측정하였다. 카페인 투여 후 뇌 부위별 GABA 함량은 시간적 경과에 따라 대뇌 피질과 시상하부에서 대조군에 비해 유의하게 감소하였다. 솔기핵에서는 시간에 따른 경향성을 나타냈고, 복측피개영역에서는 카페인 투여 1시간 후 GABA 함량이 대조군에 비하여 오히려 증가하였다. 카페인 투여 용량에 따른 뇌 부위별 GABA 함량의 변화는 대조군에 비해 저용량에서 고용량으로 갈수록 감소하는 경향을 보였다. 이러한 결과는 카페인 투여는 시간적 경과와 용량에 따라 GABA 함량에 영향을 미치며, 시상하부와 대뇌 피질에서의GABA 함량의 감소는 수면장애와 관련이 있음을 시사한다. Caffeine administration has been used to model sleep disruption. The purpose of this study was to examine the relation of caffeine with GABA (gamma amino butyric acid) levels in a translational caffeine-induced model of insomnia in rats. The change of GABA levels in caffeine-treated rat brain such as the cerebral cortex, hypothalamus, raphe nuclei (RN) andventral tegmental area (VTA) was investigated. GABA levels were significantly decreased with a time course by the administration of caffeine in the cerebral cortex and hypothalamus. There was a tendency that the GABA level in the RN, but not in the VTA was decreased. At high dose caffeine-treated rat, GABA levels were decreased in all the brain area. Especially, GABA levels were significantly decreased in the cerebral cortex and hypothalamus. These results suggest that the changes of GABA contents in caffeine-treated rat brain may be associated with many of the signs of insomnia or sleep disorders.

Objectives: Aim of study is to review efficacies of two human papillomavirus vaccines in different study populations and examine importance of HPV vaccine as a routine vaccine. Methods: Four phase-3 efficacy studies of two HPV vaccines were reviewed. Magnitude of efficacies were compared among different study populations. Results: Recently, two kinds of papillomavirus (HPV) vaccines were developed. "Cervarix" is a bivalent vaccine which contained L1 protein of HPV 16 and HPV 18, and "Gardasil" is a quadrivalent vaccine which contained L1 protein of HPV 6 and HPV 11 in addition. Efficacy study showed that both vaccine are highly effective to prevent cervical, vaginal and vulvar precancerous lesion in the population who are naive to HPV infection. Quadrivalent vaccine also showed high efficacy to prevent genital warts. Efficacy of the vaccine decreased in the general population who included both HPV-naive and HPV-infected peoples. Both vaccines showed high immune responses for 5 years after vaccination. Conclusions: From the point of public health, HPV vaccine is an important vaccine for young adolescents who have not begun sexual activity. However, development of guidelines for HPV vaccination for each country will be dependent on cost effectiveness of HPV vaccines of each population.

반도체 집적 소자를 제작하기 위하여 감광제에 빛을 쪼여주게 되는데 이 때 감광제의 굴절률이 변하게 된다. 기존 시뮬레이션 방법에서는 굴절률중 허수에 해당하는 흡수 계수의 변화만 고려되었으나 우리는 실수 굴절률 변화도 고려된 시뮬레이션 방법을 개발하였다. 개발된 방법에 의해 실수 굴절률 변화가 노광 공정에 어떠한 영향을 끼치는지 swing curve와 측면각 등에 대해 탈 초점 및 에너지에 따른 선폭 변화에 대해 조사하였다. I-line과 193 ㎚용 감광제에 적용시켰으며 그 결과 실수 굴절률이 증가하면 선폭을 더 작게 조절할 수 있고 공정여유도도 크게 하지만 측면각은 작아지고 실수 굴절률이 감소하면 선폭은 커지고 공정여유도는 작아지지만 측면각이 증가하는 경향을 보인다. The refractive index of photoresist is changed during exposure of the lithography process. Conventional simulation considers the change of the imaginary refractive index only. We developed a new simulation tool that includes the change of the real refractive index. We investigated the effect of this change to the lithography process. The line width, defocus, energy, swing curve, and side wall angle are studied. We applied the tool to the I-line resist and 193 ㎚ resist. As the real refractive index increases the line width decreases and the process latitude increases, but the side wall angle decreases. As the real refractive index decreases the line width increases and the process latitude decreases, but the side wall angle increases.

The linewidth variation with different process variables, such as exposure dose, thickness of PR, thickness of thin film, and the optical property of thin film, was studied for deep UV light and resist developed 0.25 μm isolated line pattern. We found that the PR thickness which gave minimum linewidth showed larger exposure latitude and smaller linewidth variation compared to the PR thickness which gave maximum linewidth. Thus it will provide better process latitude and smaller linewidth variation if we use this PR thickness.

Acupuncture as a therapeutic intervention has been widely used for treatment for many functional disorders, such as substances abuse and mental dysfunction. In general, acupuncture is known to be simple, economic, painless, non-traumatic, and without untoward reaction, being able to inhibit the abstinence syndrome. Although a number of studies on acupuncture have been reported, a few studies described acupuncture effect an drug addiction. Evidences suggest that substances abuses including nicotine, cocaine and alcohol are in part related to its effects an dopamine neurons in the reward pathways of the brain. The effects of acupuncture an drug addiction may be mediated through the neuronal cells within the limbic structures, which are known to be involved in rewarding properties of drug abuse. This essay reviews clinical and experimental evidences for its effectiveness an the drug addiction, and discusses a plausible explanation for the mechanism of acupuncture on substances abuse.
