This study investigated changes in cognitive task performance and blood oxygen saturation (SpO2) of old people when the concentration and supply rate of oxygen administration were varied (21% (1L/min), 93% (1L/min), and 93% (5L/min)). It recruited totally 20 elderly subjects including 9 males (75.1±4.2 years) and 11 females (73.1±4.3 years). The experiment consisted of 1-back task performed under three conditions (21% (1L/min), 93% (1L/min), and 93% (5L/min)). Each run consisted of three phases: Adaptation of oxygen administration (3 min), Control (2 min), and 1-bak task (2 min). SpO2 [%] was measured during each phase. Higher concentration and supply rate of oxygen administration were associated with more pronounced increase in SpO2 and decrease in response time of 1-back task.

Using driving simulator, we analyzed the driving behavior of an older driver on intersection and measured the pychological load to HRV. As a results, older drivers started to enter the more complex intersection on a great distance and on low velocity for safety driving. On the other hand, the value of HRV would be lower on more complex intersections. It suggested that an older driver allowed for his own losses of physiological and cognitive function and recognized low level of driving confidence relatively.

본 연구에서는 단순노무직, 판매직, 전문직에 종사하는 피험자를 대상으로 100%의 basil oil, lavender oil, lemon oil, jasmine oil, ylang-ylang oil (KIMEX co. Ltd, Korea), skatole (TAKASAGO co. Ltd, Japan)등 총 6가지 종류의 천연향에 대한 두뇌의 정보량 흐름을 파악하기 위해 상호 정보량을 검토하였다. 그 결과, 전문직에서는 상호 정보량의 유의한 변화가 전두엽 사이(F3F4)에서 나타난 반면, 단순노무직과 판매직에서는 전두엽(F3F4), 두정엽(P3P4), 측두엽(T5T6) 사이에서 모두 나타났다 두 직종과 비교하여 전문직이 주로 외부 자극에 대한 고차원적 기능을 담당하는 전두엽영역의 정보량에서 유의한 변화를 보인 것은 향을 전문적으로 구분하고, 확인하는 그들의 직업적 특성을 반영한 결과라 추측된다. 또한, 단순노무직과 달리, 전문직과 판매직은 선호도가 낮은 향에서 상호 정보량이 증가하는 경향을 보여, 향 관련 종사자들의 선호도와 상호 정보량간의 관련성을 시사하였다.
향 자극 시 연령에 따른 뇌파의 비대칭성 변화에 관한 연구

본 연구에서는 쾌한 향과 불쾌한 향에 대한 좌우 반구의 차이를 보여 주는 비대칭 지수를 사용하여, 두 반구 사이의 변화를 살펴보았다. 중년층과 장년층 여성을 대상으로, 100%의 Basil oil, Lavender oil, Lemon oil, Jasmin oil, Ylangylang oil(KIMEX co. Ltd), Sketol의 총 6가지 종류의 천연향을 제시한 후, 주관적 평가를 통해 쾌한 향과 불쾌한 향을 구분한 후, 이 두 향에 대한 뇌파의 비대칭도를 비교 분석하였다. 그 결과, 중년층의 경우, 주관적 평가에서 쾌한 향으로 나타난 lemon향을 제시했을 때, 불쾌한 향을 제시한 경우에 비해 세타파와 알파파에서 우반구 부분이 우세한 경향을 보여 주었고, 장년층에 비해 중년층은 마찬가지로 세타파와 알파파에서 쾌한 향 자극 시 우반구가 우세함을 보여 주었다.

In this study, reactions of central nervous systems working against different conditions of forced frequency and acceleration were measured and analyzed. The experiment are conducted with health men. The steady vibration conditions of forced frequency (0.315㎧2-1.0㎐, 0.315㎧2-10㎐ and 10㎐-1.0㎧2) are used and the waves of EEG (Electroencephalogram) are measured. As a result, this paper shows that the α-wave of frontal lobe transfers from low to high frequency band under the vibration environment. Additionally, the average frequency of α-wave is higher under the vibration than under non-vibration environment. In the case of forced frequency of 1.0㎐-0.315㎧2, the feeling with the vibration are nearly same compared with the non-vibration condition. But in the case of 10㎐-1.0㎧2, uncomfortable feeling increased compared with the non-vibration condition. This study also shows the relationship between fluctuation slop and feeling. From this study, it is found that the effect of vibration on human depends on acceleration characteristics. Highly accelerating vibration is more harmful to human.

The aim of this study was to investigate effects of odor intensity on the olfactory sensibility and sensibility structure. Three odor samples(B, C, and D) of T&T olfactometer were selected by the preference rank:the lowest preference(C); the moderate one(B);and the highest one(D). Three levels(-1, +1, and +3) of odor intensity at each sample were presented to 50 subjects(25 female, 25 male), and the olfactory sensibility was rated by using semantic differential scale composed 25 sensibility characteristics. At each sample, the olfactory sensibility was significantly affected by the odor intensity. Moreover, the structure of olfactory sensibility was influenced by the odor intensity. However, two sensibility factors such as "aesthetics" and "intensity" were common factors, whereas ‘mildness’, ‘complexity’, and ‘activity’ were unique factors with odor intensity. In conclusion, the olfactory sensibility was significantly affected by the odor intensity and the odor preference.
