This paper purports to discern the main trends of Russian literature studies in Korea during 1990-2000. These ten years can be described as a waters hed in the development of Russian studies in Korea. since ideological and political barriers hindering the direct cultural interaction between South Korea and Russia disappeared at the beginning of the 1990s. The DB prepared for this quantitative analysis of Russian literature studies in Korea comprises 341 articles on Russian literature published in major Korean academic journals during this period. Collected information was processed in to MS Excel program based on specific criteria: periodization of literary hist ory, genre. author. and methodology applied for each academic article. In terms of periodization, 19th century and modernism attracted more attention from Korean specialists. while Russian literature of up to 18th century and contemporary literature proved to be comparatively less represented. Among various genres prose played the leading role taking more than 60% of the corpus. While interest in drama is rising. studies on Russian poetry. as a whole. seems to lose previous vitality. In terms of Russian authors studied by Korean specialists. most major Russian writers of respective period received appropriate attention. However. so me classical writers. especially poets enjoying high recognition in Russia an d abroad as well are less represented in our Russian studies. And due to limited consensus among Korean specialists on the so-called cannons of 20th century Russian literature our spectrum of contemporary Russian writers proved to be extremely dispersive. As far as the methodology is concerned. most articles analyzed in this paper have a tendency focusing on the study of literary texts themselves. rather than concentrating on biographical information or illuminating the relations between literary work and its social surroundings. And the most prevalent subcategories of methodology turned out to be stylistics and thematics followed by comparative study or genetical approach.

During the last few decades, toxic chemicals used in various industries have caused global pollution and the side products such as carbon dioxide and methane gas have contributed to global warming. Thus, it is desirable to develop new alternative solvents. It is well known that ionic liquids display a variety of environmentally friendly physical properties: nonvolatile, nonflammable, wide electrochemical windows, high inherent conductivities, wide thermal operating ranges, chemically inert, and limited miscibilities with organic solvents. Because of these characteristics, ionic liquids are promising candidates as solvents for synthetic chemistries, catalysis, and gas separations. In this study, we synthesized morpholiunium salts as N-ethyl-N-methylmorpholine Bromide, N-butyl-N-methylmorpholine Bromide, Noctyl- N-methylmorpholine Bromide, N-ethyl-N-methylmorpholine Tetrafluoroborate, N-butyl-N-methylmorpholine Tetrafluoroborate, N-octyl-N-methylmorpholine Tetrafluoroborate, N-ethyl-N-methylmorpholine Hexafluorophosphate, Nbutyl- N-methylmorpholine Hexafluorophosphate, and N-octyl-N-methylmorpholine Hexafluorophosphate. The melting points, decomposition temperatures and electrochemical stabilities of the salts were measured by DSC, TGA, and CV, respectively. The salts with halide anion showed high melting points (150~200 oC), low decomposition temperatures (200~230 oC), narrow electrochemical stabilities (3.4~3.6 V). The synthesized salts with inorganic anions, on the otherhand, presented low melting point (50~110 oC), high decomposition temperatures (250~380 oC), wide electrochemical stabilities (6.1~6.3 V). We also found that the properties depend on the length of the carbon chain.
